We took our 2018 buick encore in to get the turbo fixed for the recall. The mechanic told us he can't test the turbo on it because the oil line going into the turbo isn't working and he has multiple other vehicles in for the SAME issue and they have been sitting in his back lot since December because he can't get the part in because everyone is out of stock. The vehicle was parked in a Driveway in Michigan on Sunday [XXX]. It was approximately 64 degrees. The car seat was safely positioned in the rear passenger side. Rear facing. The window was cracked about an inch so the vehicle was not too hot when leaving. ... which resulted in burns to the seat cushion as well. Thankfully there was not a child in the car seat at time of malfunction so the child was not put at imminent risk. On Wednesday February 27, 2024 while driving on the highway suddenly after about 15 minutes the engine light came on stating "Engine Overheating - idle engine." ... ed in which I was able to pull over to the side emergency lane. My safety was at risk due to the car's sudden decrease in speed to a stop on a busy and crowded highway. I have been on the highway at least 5-6 other times in which the car almost stops on a busy expressway. I have brought the car to the GM dealership on several occasions in which I received 2 recall letters: one September 2019 (regarding the evaporative emissions purge valve does not properly close) and another recall letter November 2021 (regarding a condition that could cause the turbo charger to fail due to a sticking wastegate actuator linkage) from GM describing that there were recalls on my 2016 Buick Encore. After bringing the car to the GM dealership where I purchased the car, I explained that the engine will almost come to a stop. I described that it was very frightening to drive the car like this. The service center did complete repairs however the stalling engine continued and I continued to bring the car to the dealer complaining of this concern each time. The vehicle was not inspected by the police or insurance representatives. The Engine light sensor would continue to appear on the dash in which I brought this to the service department's attention at the GM Dealership. The GM dealership tried to correct the engine's problem but never succeeded, therefore the engine was defective and unsafe to be driving.Read more

Steering wheel repeatedly locks while turning followed by loss of power steering. Also accompanied by warning messages such as "Service ESC", "Park Assist Off", "Steering Assist is Reduced Drive with Care", as well as the stability control and stability control off lights. Began in October 2023. Brought in to dealership 4 times in 5 months (waiting on loaner availability to bring in for a 5th t
... ime) and still not repaired. Dealership unable to replicate problem but finds error codes when diagnosing. Below is a summary of each visit to "fix" the problem: Visit 1 (October 17, 2023): problem due to software out of date, reprogrammed the brake control module Visit 2 (October 30, 2023): problem due to battery low voltage, replaced battery Visit 3 (January 12, 2024): problem due to software out of date, reprogrammed power steering control module Visit 4 (February 19, 2024): problem due to short in steering rack, replaced steering rack There is no pattern to when the power steering goes out or when the wheel locks. Must constantly drive on guard to be prepared. We live in a city and drive in a lot of traffic. It is dangerous to have the wheel lock while turning, causing the car to potentially head into traffic, pedestrians, curbs, etc.Read more
