I initially received the recall for this vehicle over 2 years ago. GMC has still failed to fix the problem with the air bags on this vehicle. 2016 Buick Encore VIN [XXX] approximately 60,000 miles. The vehicles turbo had a catastrophic failure pushing oil into the engine, and the catalytic converter causing extensive damage to both. The description from the first mechanic shop, I took it to descripted it as the turbo exploded, spewing oil everywhere. Buick knows the turbo engine is faulty and they issued a 'special' warranty, howeve
... r the warranty doesn't cover the damage caused by their faulty turbo engine. There wasn't anything I could've done to prevent this. In fact, the GM dealership replaced the turbo and that turbo failed and had to be replaced. I've been asked to cover the cost of repairing the engine, catalytic converter and clean the oil that sprayed the engine compartment. In hindsight, Buick should've issued a full recall on the turbo. They made a business decision not to recall the turbo, but they need to accept responsibility. Living in rural Northern Wisconsin, we are fortunate that this didn't happen in the winter. The resolution I seek is GM/Buick accept responsibility and cover the total cost of repair. This isn't directed at any of the GM/Buick employees I've dealt with, they have all been courteous and professional. Despite this recall, upon taking the car to the local Buick dealership, they stated they could not cover the recall due to it being expired before I even owned the car. I do not understand how it is right or fair for this to have to be paid out of pocket, for $183.53 and $818.81 respectively, when it is not my fault, it is a faulty GM parts issue, and GM stated they will not stand behind their product and cover the recall despite the evident risk to my safety if I was to continue driving the car without repair. I understand it is expired, but I fail to see how this is ethical when the part is still faulty to the point of being dangerous.Read more

In June of 2023 I received a safety recall from GM on my 2016 Buick Enclave concerning a defect in the airbag system. I contacted my local GM dealer and they said the hadn't received the replacement parts yet and that I would be notified when they were available. I checked again in January 2024 and still had no parts. I called again today, July 29, 2024 and received the same answer. I then conta
... cted GM Buick Customer Assistance and was told that the parts were being released in waves to different regions of the country and I would be notified when they were available for my vehicle. It seems to me that their supplier is not placing urgency on manufacturing these parts, which in my opinion is very negligent on their part. Hopefully there have not been any injuries or deaths while waiting to receive repair parts for the vehicles affected by this defect.Read more

The air bag warning light in the dash came on intermittently during driving. I took the vehicle to the dealer for service December 27, 2023, since it was a safety issue that the authorized dealer needs to take care of. At first, they said it was a bad battery and the safety system needed reprogramming. Which they did for about $800. When driving home from the dealer the air bag light came back on
... so a few days later I returned the car to the dealer. Then they said it was the passenger seat safety module that needed to be replaced. That was back in January of 2024, over 6 months ago. At that point I learned that the car is not drivable since the air bag could deploy at any time or would not function if requested in an accident. General Motors says they do not have the part that is critical to the operation of the air bag system to replace. That was over 6 months ago, with no prediction when they will have the part. This is a critical part of the safety system that they can't replace which leads me to believe there is more to this than they are telling me!! Federal law requires them to have parts for vehicles less than 7 years old - they don't!! How many other vehicles have this part? Is the part defective since it failed without any other causes that could be identified? Why can't they replace this critical safety part after 7 months of waiting with no end in sight!!!Read more

Timing chain was stretched to the point where it couldn't be tightened and had to have over $4000 worth of repairs done to replace the chain and other damaged components. I pulled my owners manual and even searched online for the OEM recommended inspections for major components of my car and nothing about having timing chain inspected at any specific mileage point, or any other major components that could fail are listed for major components that could be inspected for wear and tear at said mileage milestones. The fact that prior year models had recalls due to failed timing chains, you'd expect to see following year cars, of the same body style, to have a heightened recommended inspection schedule to make sure the solution to the prior recall worked.Read more
