While driving on a highway in California we heard a bang above our heads followed by a cracking sound. I knew immediately that the sunroof exploded based on reading posts about it in a Facebook Odyssey owners group. Fortunately the interior slider/shade was closed and no glass fell on us. There is no discernable reason the glass would just shatter. We used duct tape to attempt to hold the glass together to 1) keep it out of the passenger compartment 2) weatherseal the car as precipitation was forecasted. We proceeded on our trip and stopped in Flagstaff, AZ. It was disturbing to find out that we had to purchase the glass from a Honda dealer and have it installed by a commercial auto glass business as the dealer doesn't do glass installation. It is ridiculous that I lost a day of travel to a problem that has been around for over a decade with NHTSA reports and a class action lawsuit about the poor quality of Honda sunroofs.Read more

I was going about 20mph or less on a bumpy side road in the city and couldn’t stop at a stop light and almost hit the car in front of me. The brakes just did nothing when I mashed down and finally kicked in and I stopped before crashing into the Honda in front of me. Dear NHTSA, I am submitting a formal complaint regarding a 2019 Buick Regal, which I purchased as a used vehicle in 2023 with approximately 19,000 miles. Since owning the car, I have added only 14,000 miles, yet I have experienced multiple significant and ongoing issues that raise serious concerns about the safety, reliability, and warranty service associated with this vehicle. ... Suspension Issues: Shortly after purchase, the car has had persistent suspension problems, which negatively affect stability and ride quality. The dealership has replaced multiple suspension components, but the issue continues and remains unresolved. General Motors (GM) initially agreed to cover these repairs even if my warranty expired and also stated I would qualify for a vehicle buyback. They have now backtracked and are refusing to honor that commitment, despite the ongoing unresolved safety issue Electrical and Transmission Malfunctions: I have reported intermittent electrical and transmission issues to the dealer. These include erratic shifting, hesitation, and occasional system malfunctions. Each time, I have been told they cannot replicate the problems, so no repairs have been made. These issues are intermittent, but they occur while driving and are potentially dangerous. Delays in Repairs and Warranty Coverage: The dealership delayed parts ordering and repairs for my suspension concerns until after my warranty expired. This delay appears to have been intentional, potentially to avoid honoring warranty coverage. Refusal to Service Due to Location (Puerto Rico): I live in Puerto Rico, and both GM and the dealership have stated that they are limited in what they can do for me because of my location. For example, I was told they cannot order a replacement windshield to Puerto Rico, and that what they can do based on a buyback or warranty coverage is limited. Positive battery cable went out which is a $1500 repair. It appears that this is quite a common issue. Ford has previously offered a "battery cable overlay" Program 22B39 which appears to use a smaller gauge wire. Sounds like a mickey mouse fix to an issue that isn't owner related.

Towing my trailer with my 2016 Ram 2500, at 48,000 miles I experienced complete turbo failure in heavy traffic at highway speeds. Power was reduced to minimums causing hazardous conditions. The "check engine" light illuminated. I maintained control and eventually had the codes scanned at both a local auto parts store and Larry Miller Dodge/Ram in Sandy, Utah. ... o actuator/turbo. Larry Miller said they could replace the actuator, but I'd be back in three weeks for the turbo replacement as well. They were three weeks out for labor. I contacted a local diesel repair shop who purchased the turbo and actuator from Larry Miller Dodge Ram and had it installed in a day. Subsequent to these repairs ($5,400.00) I have learned that MOPAR issued Warranty Bulletin D-22-06, dated March 16, 2022, for the same make and model as mine, only for the year 2015. My truck was built in 2015 and the parts and computer codes for failure are identical. This published warranty bulletin issued relief of a new extended warranty of 15 years /150,000 miles for the installed turbo actuator/turbo. Since mine failed at 48,000 miles, this could be a continuation of the aforementioned issue with the stated 2015 year failures. I was lucky I didn't create a traffic accident when this turbo system failed since it was sudden and violent when the loss of power occurred without warning. I'm asking you to probe or look at the facts that the issue with these Garrett turbos are still outstanding whether Doge/Ram/Fiat/Mopar wants to include them in their campaign. The danger is real. The costs to retired people, such as myself, is consequential and devastating. It is unfair there is no way of sending queries to the manufacturers to alert them of this condition. The only way to communicate is to talk to a person in India and the communication barrier is tremendously difficult as is the chance of getting any return on the days and weeks of attempts for resolution.Read more

... in holes inside the doors. This is a serious concern because the trapped water can lead to rust, mold, and electrical damage. I bought a Platinum extended warranty, but the dealership said this issue is not covered. I’m very frustrated because I maintain this car properly and expect better quality from Toyota, especially when the defect is known. Toyota has a Technical Service Bulletin (T-SB-0084-21 Rev1) about this problem, but no recall has been issued. I believe this is a design flaw and could turn into a safety hazard if the water affects electronics or mold forms inside the car.
