THE BRITAX BOULEVARD CLICKTIGHT SEAT (DOM 02/2015) WAS SHIPPED WITH THE HARNESS STRAPS NESTED ON THE YOKE INCORRECTLY. THE MANUAL CLEARLY STATES (AND DISPLAYS) THAT THE LEFT STRAP LOOP SHOULD NEST INSIDE THE RIGHT STRAP LOOP, AND THEN BE HOOKED ONTO THE YOKE. BRITAX HAS FAILED MISERABLY AT PROVIDING A REMEDY FOR THE DEFECTIVE PART WITHIN A REASONABLE TIME. THIS COMPLAINT IS REGARDING THE HUGS PAD ON A BRITAX BOULEVARD 70 G-3 CONVERTIBLE CARSEAT MANUFACTURED IN MAY 2013. I PURCHASED THIS CAR SEAT IN JUNE 2013, BUT DID NOT REMOVE IT FROM THE BOX OR INSTALL IT UNTIL OCTOBER 2013. I INSTALLED IT WITH THE ASSISTANCE OF A CERTIFIED CAR SEAT TECHNICIAN. AFTER 9 DAYS OF USE, I DISCOVERED THAT THE TOP TAB OF THE RIGHT HUGS PAD WAS CRACKED ON THE SIDE T

IT SUBSEQUENTLY DETERIORATED TO THE POINT WHERE I REALIZED MY CHILD MIGHT BE ABLE TO SNAP THE PIECE OFF, AT WHICH POINT IT WOULD PRESENT A CHOKING HAZARD. I HAVE KEPT THESE PIECES AS A REFERENCE. I CONTACTED BRITAX AND THEY IMMEDIATELY SHIPPED ME NEW HUGS PADS AT NO FEE. THEY ALSO SUGGESTED THAT I ONLY USE THE HUGS PADS IN THE FORWARD-FACING POSITION. THEY ARE APPARENTLY OPTIONAL FOR REAR-FACING USE. HOWEVER, I AM VERY CONCERNED FOR THE FOLLOWING REASONS: 1. THIS DEFECT SOUNDS VERY SIMILAR TO THE DEFECT IN THE HUGS PADS THAT CAUSED A RECENT RECALL. HOWEVER, MY SEAT WAS MANUFACTURED AFTER THE RECALL. THIS SUGGESTS THAT THE PROBLEM HAS NOT BEEN FIXED. 2. I WILL NEED TO USE THE HUGS PADS ONCE MY CHILD MOVES TO THE FORWARD POSITION. THEREFORE, I NEED TO BE CONFIDENT THAT THESE PADS WILL NOT BREAK IN THE FUTURE, WHEN THAT WOULD COMPROMISE MY CHILD'S SAFETY. 3. WHEN I ASKED THE BRITAX CUSTOMER SERVICE REPRESENTATIVE WHETHER THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM SHE SAID THAT IT HAD BEEN KNOWN TO HAPPEN IF CHILDREN PLAY WITH OR BITE THE TABS. SHE PUT ME ON A LIST FOR A NEW, STIFFER VERSION (NOT YET AVAILABLE), SUGGESTING THEY KNOW THERE IS A PROBLEM BUT HAVE NOT NOTIFIED THE PUBLIC.
