The truck currently has 48000 miles. The 6.2L L87 engine was replaced at 17000 miles. A few weeks ago, I parked it, went to a ballgame, came back 4 hours later and started the truck. Drove it approximately 500 feet and lights started flashing on the dash. It was running rough, had loos of power, and sounded like a diesel. I immediately shut it off and had it towed to a dealer. The lifter on the nu

Steering can be "sticky" in warm weather, especially above 70 degrees. The issue is intermittent and almost disappears during colder weather, below 60 degrees. I have been noticing this issue for the last couple of years. The issue is particularly noticeable at highway speeds 45mph+. At these speeds the steering wheel becomes somewhat "stuck" and won't turn until you apply enough force to overcom
... e this "stickiness", after which point it starts turning normally, just as expected. The amount of force you need to overcome the "stickiness" is not too much, but it's more than expected, and enough to reduce the control you have over the vehicle's steering. I believe that this "stickiness" is a safety hazard because at highway speeds it makes it harder for you to make small steering adjustments to stay in your lane. This is because you need to apply more steering force to overcome the "stickiness" of the steering wheel, which can result in your car steering more than the desired amount, which can be dangerous. I usually find myself having to immediately make a secondary small steering correction towards the opposite direction, just to bring the vehicle back to the direction I was expecting it to be heading in the first place. But even this secondary adjustment will also suffer from the same "stickiness", so the problem repeats.Read more

3 times in the last 24 hours my vehicle has completely stopped while in motion. Once on the highway and twice in residential areas. There was no precursor problem to let me know this would happen, no strange noises and no check engine light. It just fails and the engine stops while I’m driving. It’s extremely dangerous and quite frankly very scary. When I called kia today to tell them what ha
... ppened all they said to me was that since the check engine light wasn’t on, that it was safe to drive and they couldn’t get my car in for several weeks. Then the other kia dealership in the area said they would get me in next week but again that my car was safe to drive. It is most certainly NOT safe to drive!! This is happening while I’m driving and in motion. Twice at about 10 mph and once going 60 (thank god nobody was behind me)Read more

[XXX] [XXX] [XXX] [XXX] [XXX] Vin # [XXX] 2021 Toyota Highlander 4DR AWD XLE I am writing to report a potentially dangerous transmission defect in my 2021 Toyota Highlander XLE, at approx. 60-70k miles. The vehicle recently developed a high-pitched whining noise while accelerating, which a certified Toyota service technician suspects is internal to the transmission. This exact issue is out
... lined in Toyota Technical Service Bulletin T-SB-0008-21, issued February 9, 2021, for 2021 Highlanders equipped with the UA80E or UA80F 8-speed automatic transmission. According to the TSB, the cause is worn pinion shafts in the front carrier assembly, and the prescribed repair is complete transmission replacement. Unfortunately, my vehicle was just outside the 60,000-mile powertrain warranty window, despite experiencing the failure consistent with a known manufacturer defect. Numerous other owners have reported identical symptoms between 60,000–80,000 miles, often facing repair costs over $8,000 and multi-week delays due to part availability. This is not a typical wear-and-tear issue. A failure of the transmission at highway speeds or during critical maneuvers could lead to loss of power or control, posing a real safety risk to drivers and passengers. I respectfully urge the NHTSA to investigate this issue further. I am happy to provide: Thank you for your commitment to driver safety. In addition, the contact diagnosed the failure and related the failure to the motor mount, alternator bracket, and in need of an intake manifold replacement. The local dealer was not contacted. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired by the local dealer. The vehicle was given back to the local independent dealer and the vehicle was repaired and put up for sale. The symptoms since the beginning of 2024 have been that when braking between 7 and 10 mph, you feel a bump or a skid, and when you stop, the engine shakes for a moment as if it's going to shut off. This happens with the Auto Stop-Start off. A sudden braking moment can affect the vehicle's performance, making it difficult to control and increasing the risk of accidents, especially when it comes to
... a pickup truck that may have a trailer with cargo or objects in the bed that can be thrown. The trailer can even leave the road, losing control of the car. In 2024, I took the truck to the place where I bought it, Bomnin Chevrolet Dadeland, for a checkup. I explained all the symptoms to my advisor, just as I do here. I had to take it to wait for a loaner. A few days later, I took it back, and they had it for almost a week. When I picked it up, my advisor told me everything was fine. When I left the dealership, I found the same symptoms, so I went back and told him the car was still doing the same thing, and he told me it was normal. After much insistence, he got in the car with me to show him the problem, and the car did it several times, but according to him, it was normal. Now, in 2025, a week ago I took it to Miami Lakes Auto Mall to get checked out with the same symptoms and explanation. I started investigating why that couldn't possibly be normal car operation. They found they had to replace the torque converter and valve body because they found an excessive amount of metal in the transmission. The valve body is on back order indefinitely at all dealerships, so I had to take the car in that condition. Before taking it, I spoke with the manager and GM to ask them to give me a car until they fixed mine because it wasn't right for me to drive the car like that. But they didn't offer me anything. I took it back to Bomnin Chevrolet Dadeland and they told me they were going to change the transmission and torque converter and conveniently they didn't have to change the valve.Read more
