While returning home with my wife and cat, we were approaching a train crossing when I attempted to slow down, already under the posted speed limit and I pressed the brakes very lightly to begin slowing to a stop. The brakes locked up and we began sliding toward the train crossing arms and moving train on the tracks, I attempted pumping the brakes at that point realizing something was very wrong.
... With every slight touch of the brakes the vehicle would skid more, left, and right, until we came to a screeching halt mere feet from the train crossing arms. I have been told now by BMW roadside assistance that my vehicle is still safe to use. Then when I disagreed was transferred to "master mechanic " who promptly told me it was unsafe for me and others on the road. He set up a tow and it was towed away that same day. Now I have spoken to two different Certified BMW dealers, one of whom I purchased the vehicle from. They both said there's nothing they can do about it as there's no fix. The dealer that currently has is said it's safe to drive and I need to plan to pick it up. This is an absolute disaster of immense proportions that is going to cost someone their life undoubtedly. I was willing to let the vehicle sit until a fix was made available but only to be told that they have no loaners available for me. I paid for my vehicle in full at purchase, and this is the product and service I am provided by doing so. Reprehensible.Read more

Auto Start feature was active, when I pressed on the gas pedal, engine suddenly turned off. The car would not start. There was no warning or any error message. We were stuck in the middle of the fast lane in heavy traffic and cars were passing on the both sides, making it impossible to be even get out and walk to safety. I tried to restart the car multiple times with success. We felt in danger of being struck by another vehicle. Luckily, the CHP was a few minutes behind us and stopped to help us. We tried to put the vehicle in Neutral so it can be pushed out to the side and not block traffic. I called the East Bay BMW and the Road Assistance for help with putting the vehicle in Neutral but I was told it can’t be done. The CHP (2 officers) and I tried to put the car in neutral but without any success. I with EastBay BMW and was told that noting can be done to put the vehicle in Neutral. The only way to shift the car in Neutral is from under the car and requires a mechanic . There was electrical burning smell coming from the engine compartment. The vehicle was towed to the EastBay Dealership in Pleasanton, CA. Upon inspection, the Dealer stated the issue is due to bad battery and it caused the starter to overload as I attempted to start the car. They drained and refilled the transmission and said the fluid was dirty and contained metal debris. When I asked them why a car with such low mileage would have dirty fluid containing metal debris, I was told it could have had low fluid from the factory or the factory could have used "crappy" fluid. I was also told the reason so many warning lights come on is because those systems become disabled when there is a problem. I got the car back on 8/17/24 and then on 9/7/24 while driving, all the lights came on again including the AT oil temp light which was noted to be yellow and flashing. Subaru of America towed it to Subaru again. They said it was the same code and this time they're replacing the valve body. Today is 10/1/24 and Subaru still has my car. They said if it happens again, then they will finally replace the transmission. When it was towed to Subaru on 9/7/24, it had less than 6,000 miles on it. While driving at highway speeds, the vehicle has spontaneously locked up the front brakes/wheels three separate times. All three times have been at 55- 65mph and have completely locked up the front brakes leaving tire marks on the pavement. No Automated Braking System engaged, just full lock up. Multiple systems failure simultaneously. Lane Keep assist system, adaptive cruise control, braking system failure and automatic emergency braking as well as forward collision warning. This vehicle is using insurmountable amount of engine oil.since I purchased the vehicle in 2024 I've had the oil changed once and twice the engine oil was down 3-4 quarts and when I started it,the engine was rattling because of oil disappearing.i purchased this nice looking car for.$5000.,so it's not junk to me it must be fixed.i think GM should be responsible for this problem.
