I was driving in between 40 and 50 miles per hour and the automatic braking got activated automatically for a few seconds. The road was clear and there were no vehicles or obstacles anywhere. It was about 9.15 am and approx temp was 40 F. This is the second time it occurred. The car is not under factory warranty and the dealer would be charging diagnostic fees and unlikely to find anything wrong.

My check engine light came on, took it to a parts store for an analysis and got code P0303. The vehicle was also running different. When I would first turn it on, it felt like it wasn’t at full power and felt like the engine was shaking slightly. We changed the spark plugs, engine light didn’t go away. Had same code so changed cylinder #3 coil as that was the one misfiring. The engine light bl
... inked and remained on. The car when I would put it in drive had almost no power for the first several seconds I would press the gas in drive then would all of a sudden jump to driving. $140 later in parts I had a bunch of white smoke coming out of the back, about every light and alarm sound started going off as it had a message that was telling me engine overheated (we checked the antifreeze when changing plugs and coils and was still between max and minimum) and told me to safely stop. I was on a busy street and my car stalled while waiting for a tow. While looking at the antifreeze, it was completely gone even though we just checked it. My car that still has a $13,000+ loan is not drivable. It is in a mechanics garage now and is estimated to cost OVER $2000 to fix. I’m very frustrated because after a started researching this issue, I’ve found hundreds of complaints about this SAME issue with others and yet NO recall has been sent to me by ford motor company. When I lookup recalls for my vehicle using my vin number, it stated that there are zero open recalls. I have been without my car for about 6 weeks and not sure what to do about this.Read more

On the highway and interstate highway, during stop in stop-and-go traffic, the vehicle randomly automatically shifts into park and apply the parking brakes when attempting to accelerate from standstill. This only happens when you try to move again after stopping, and the vehicle is shifted into park in the most inopportune times. It requires you not only to shift it back to drive with your r
... ight hand, and reaching under the dash with your left hand to release the parking brake. When task saturated during an emergency it is highly likely to cause an accident, such as turning left onto a divided country highway while the car is temporally stopped between the two highways. No dealership involvement yet. This occurs randomly, and I have not been able to find a way to replicate it at will. This has occurred more than a dozen of times. Warning light on the dash stating shifting the car into park, and audible beep. Dangerous because it occurs randomly on a highway. Upon opening rear hatch, loud banging/knock developed that happened on every opening. Sounded as if it were damaging the body or latch. Did online research of problem and found through Mazda owners forum Mazda TSB #09-009/23. The TSB notes the rear latch has an "internal fault in the liftgate latch and/or loose bolts." Dealers are advised to confirm the issue and replace with new latch and bolts -
... "This repair will be covered under Mazda's New Vehicle Limited Warranty term." My vehicle had 71,500 miles at the time of the issue, just beyond the warranty limits. I took my vehicle to the local dealership (Whitten) along with the TSB where the problem was confirmed and I was requested to approve replacement. I argued that this should be considered a recall and covered by Mazda given the language of the TSB. The dealership advised that I would need to pay for the repair and could take up the issue directly with Mazda. Therefore, I paid $512 for the latch repair because I considered the problem a potential safety issue - either it would stop opening or would not close leaving the hatch open during driving. I contacted Mazda USA requesting reimbursement for the repair given their admission that the latch was "faulty." They refused saying my vehicle was beyond the warranty period and I had approved and paid for the repair. They added that I should contact them in the future if there is a question about coverage of broken parts. Given their admission that the part installed at the factory had a fault and that this fault could result in a safety issue such as a non-closing hatch, I request that this issue become a recall, or that the warranty period be extended for this specific issue. (I would also like to be reimbursed for the cost of repairing this manufacturer's problem.)Read more
