This vehicle has been repaired by the dealership where it was purchased, for this exact issue. The first sign of sensors malfunctioning was in January 2022 (I purchased the vehicle in June 2021). I have taken the vehicle to the dealership for repairs 3 times in relation to sensor malfunction and for replacement of rear actuators, which is stated in the Service Repair Summaries. Since the last repair in 2023, the same problem has occurred once again. This latest incident has included the automatic braking without any objects in front of the vehicle. I am requesting your assistance in initiating an official recall from the manufacturer for this component failure. Based on my research, I am not the only one experiencing these issues—many others have reported similar problems on forums like Reddit, which suggests that this could be a widespread issue. Additionally, Mazda offers a 6-year/60,000-mile warranty on this hybrid battery. If the component fails after this period, the cost to replace it could reach $6,000, with the customer being responsible for a large portion of the expense. This is concerning, especially considering that if this part fails after 30,000 miles, the customer may be expected to bear up to 70% of the cost. It is frustrating to see such issues with a vehicle sold in the U.S., and I feel that companies should be held accountable for offering subpar products. For comparison, BMW offers a 100,000-mile warranty on similar components. My cat was in her hard sided carrier on the front passenger seat and the impact and air bags broke the carrier and she was ejected. Clearly the Pre-Sense Front collision warning/avoidance system did not function properly during this unintended acceleration. I am convinced that had there not been a sturdy pole directly in front of the parking space, the car would have continued to accelerate and crashed into the storefront of the restaurant directly ahead - and MANY people could have been injured or worse. The "Electrical Malfunction" light had illuminated several months earlier when starting up after being parked for a short time but when I drove the few miles home and turned it off, then on again, it did not illuminate so I forgot to report this to the dealership. Vehicle was built in April 2014 and now has a transmission pump failure. Vehicles built between January and April 2014 were recalled. Subsequently 2015 through 2016 Vehicles were recalled for the same reasons.The Vehicle exhibit the exact symptoms as the recalled Vehicles. I also have obd data if needed for evidence.

On Dec 9, 2024 I was driving my 2022 BMW X5 45E on (in EV mode) local roads at approximately 30-35mph when all of a sudden I lost power and the steering wheel became tight. ... t slowly, but the steering was tight to the point I had to use 2 hands to make turn. There was also no throttle response. As soon as the car came to a stop, I powered it off and turned it on. The car's screens were blinking and the car would not turn on. I contacted BMW Roadside and the car was towed to the dealership at East Bay BMW in Pleasanton. As of today I am still waiting for a reply on the condition of the vehicle. Yesterday I was told that they will change out the battery first and see if this solves the problem. My biggest concern is that had this happened to me on the highway that I or someone would have gotten seriously injured or may result in death from an accident. I lost power to the car and the steering became stiff.Read more
