As a responsible driver, I value the safety of not only myself but also those around me, and this situation and others we constantly hear about make me question the process of the recall. Every week, a number of vehicles are reported as undrivable post-OTA updates, with statistics indicating that approximately 2%-5% of owners experience this issue. With 48-hour update windows, my vehicle becomes unusable for an extended period, which is highly inconvenient and concerning. Moreover, I've noted that partial updates are expected, potentially extending this downtime by another 48 hours. I have had a partial update that has left my vehicle in worse shape than before, what could happen if the process is tried again? This inconsistent performance is not only frustrating, but also poses a serious inconvenience to scheduling and executing such a process. Owner surveys suggest that comprehensive updates, which should resolve these issues, have been successfully completed in under 30% of vehicles which were attempted. Additionally, the alarming figures shared indicate that only around 10% of the fleet has been updated in over five weeks, despite submitting over 800 Vehicle Identification Numbers (VINs). This inefficiency raises serious questions about the reliability of the process. Furthermore, the fact that there are only approximately 20 service personnel available nationwide, with a mere five traveling to assist customers whose cars are rendered undrivable, is simply unacceptable. I have not been able to drive my vehicle for almost 3 months because the engine coolant pump could leak onto electrical components and cause a fire. There is an "OTA" team who are responsible for delivering software updates over the air. They are opaque, uncontactable, and appear to operate beholden to no-one. They have failed to establish a method for providing the NHTSA mandated software updates. The Fisker Owner's Association has attempted to fill the administrative delinquency but they are also not getting support. My complaint is based on the requirement that the manufacturer ensures I am not out of pocket for the cost of the remediation work to address the recalls and they have failed to provide a way for me to do this. As a result I have paid out of pocket to have them addressed. Suddenly, about 10 minutes into our conversation, my car accelerated forward with speed, hit my friend’s garage door and then reversed with the same speed and stopped in the middle of the street. This happened within the span of a few seconds at most. I think that I applied the brakes while the car was reversing with speed and I remember the car not slowing down but then it coming to an abrupt stop in the middle of the street. There were deep skid marks on the driveway, my friend’s garage door was damaged, my friend’s Tesla X was damaged with impact to the rear bumper, this parked Tesla had moved forward and crashed in the wall of the garage and a garage cabinet door dislodged and fell on the hood of this Tesla. My friends parked Toyota Prius also had bumper damage. The garage drywall sustained cracks as well. The force from these unexpected accelerations and impact has left me and my friend with aches and pains in the back, shoulder, knees, hands, head and neck; thankfully, we did not suffer more severe injuries. I am gravely concerned about the potential for this defect to cause a catastrophic accident. Had there been pedestrians, pets or another vehicle in the path of my rapidly reversing vehicle, it could have led to serious injuries or even fatalities. I called my car insurance company, local police and I will notify the Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) and BMW of North America. They claimed they could not replicate and that there was no issue with the door and gave me the car back without fixing anything. A short time later I was parked at the grocery store, this time inside the car, and the car door wouldnt open. I pulled on the inside handle and there was a lot of resistance to it. I had to yank on it pretty hard and finally the door popped open. I then tried to close the door but there was no resistance on the latch and the door would no longer close. I called BMW roadside and they instructed me to pull the handle on the outside three time and the inside three times and this would fix the door. This did not work and they had to tow the car. I had to drive the car home while holding the door closed because I needed to get to our other car and move the car seats over for my [XXX] and [XXX] . BMW currently has the car now and they said the actuator has failed and they are replacing it. BMW refused to fix the car when presented with a video of the non-functioning door latch/lock until it left the car in an unsafe manner where the car door would swing open and never close. When I tried to slow down the power assist was gone on the brakes, I had a little braking when I pushed the pedal all the way to the floor as hard as

After I managed to stop and turn off then on the vehicle everything came back expect for a warning to service the trailer brakes and the check engine light was still on. It all cleared after a few more restarts. I got the truck to the dealer 4 days later and they said it was the battery going bad even though I was not having any problem starting the vehicle, I had them replace the battery. I am unsure if the problem is resolved, time will tell. What I am sure of is if my daughter had been driving the truck, she would not have had the strength to get the brakes to work or turn the wheel, she would have had a accident for sure.Read more

Some can still be found in old junk vehicles, or for sale out of used vehicles, but these have no guarantee and are no safer or less susceptible to failure than the stock product. No to mention they can only be found at exorbitant prices since they are in such high demand on an obviously sub-par part. Why does this part have so many issues and why is it impossible to fix? The vehicle is unsafe without this fix! The tires absolutely slide on wet roads now with loss of steering control and the rear end easily breaks free of traction on wet roads! There was no engine light or oil pressure light that came on at any point in time to indicate there was no oil in the engine. Per the instructions in the manual, I drove the vehicle carefully to the auto part store. I purchased and added 6 quarts of synthetic blend 5W 30 oil. After that, the rattling in the engine seized. I sent a text message to Kia in Alpharetta, GA. I spoke with Izzy and explained the situation and requested an appointment to have an oil consumption test performed. She advised that the oil consumption test had a $440 cost and consisted of performing a series of oil changes over the course of a specified time to determine how much oil the vehicle was burning/consuming. She said I could call consumer affairs and I asked her if she was referring to Kia consumer affairs or the national/federal consumer affairs. She verified it was the national/federal consumer affairs and provided me with this number to call 1-888-327-4236 which actually belongs to Kia's consumer affairs hotline. Izzy advised that I had pending recalls in my car and asked why I have not brought the car in. I mentioned that I live in Ball Ground, GA and the nearest Kia dealership to me is the one in Woodstock, GA. However, I stopped taking my car there because I previously took the car there to get the oil changes done and each time I did the car would have a nail in one of the tires a couple days after the service. On several occasions (10+) the windshield wiper would not activate when turning the dial on the stalk. On all but one occasion, the stalk worked on the next drive. That one occasion, the stalk worked on the following drive. There are no lights or warnings, the wipers just fail to work. This is more problematic
