I have an ongoing problem with this vehicle that KIA will not address. My alternator was replaced under warranty last April 30 and when I got it back, the CV boot was leaking grease all over the underside of the car. It took 6 weeks to get them to replace the cv boot (June 14). After that it continued to spray grease all over the underside of my car and there is an increasing amount of vibratio
... n going down the road. KIA said they didn't notice a problem when I took it back in August. I took my vehicle to an independent shop who said that at a minimum the front passenger cv axle needed replacement but that there is also a lot of play with the lower center motor mount. KIA did ended up replacing both cv axles when I took it back because at that point I had a significant wobble in the front end when I drive at speeds of 40-60mph. When I got my car back from cv axle replacement the problem was improved but there was still a vibration that has been increasingly worse. I returned my vehicle to KIA in January and they said they don't feel anything in the drive train but that now my tires have worn unevenly and need replacement. My tires were rotated every 6,000 miles and the vibration/wobble contributed to their uneven wear. I have replaced the tires and an alignment has been done, but it the symptoms are worse. Searching through social media and various sources show that the front passenger cv axles are a common issue for the Tellurides and a lot of people are experiencing similar problems. My suspension checks out. All of the obvious things have been ruled out and the required maintenance has been performed. I have had 3 occasions where there was a noise that sounded like something coming apart going down the road. I have concerns that this vehicle is unsafe to drive. I feel that KIA is not going to address this problem unless there is a recall requiring them to do it.Read more

The epoxy that attaches the hood brackets and the grill to the body is failing. Both hood brackets have come loose, the bracket on the passenger side came loose and fell off of the motorhome on the road and the driver side bracket came off and I noticed it before it fell completely off. Since purchasing the vehicle in April 2020 with 19,195 mile on it, the transmission would always hunt to shift gears around 40 to 43 mph. When I asked the dealers about it they said it was at a shift point and with the eight speed transmission that was normal. Going faster of accelerating or going slower was always pretty good. Around the first of November 2024 it changed to all shifting below 40
... mph and progressively got so bad that in traffic it was totally unpredictable, At times in heavy traffic we were nearly rear ended because of the up and down shifting. At that time there was about 91,000 miles on it. I went to my service garage and they check all the codes and did not find anything. They thought it was a torque converter issue and recommended having a transmission shop check it out. I took it to a local shop that we have used for over 35 years and they confirmed the converter was the issue and driving in town was ok but don't go on long trips away from home. The transmission shop ordered a new torque converter and did further research with suppliers and other shops. They received input that if the torque converter fails, shortly after the planetary gear will also fail. Since the transmission would be out, it was recommended to inspect the gears. It was discovered that two were very loose and one was extremely loose sideways and up and down. They said it was on it's last leg and they showed me the gear and what was wrong. With that, they replaced both the converter and planetary gear. If the planetary gear would have failed it is hard to tell what would have happened, especially on a highway or in heavy traffic. I feel this is a major safety concern of items that should have a life expectancy of 200,000 miles or more, not 91,000. I am not the only one with this problem either. There are many others dealing with the same issues and the repairs can cost more the the value of the car, not to mention the possible cause of an accident.Read more

The car at the most random times has the rear camera just suddenly fail and it'll say "Camera is temporarily unavailable". This is pretty difficult to work with as the rear view window is already really small and I'm unable to see much. This seems to be a pretty common issue when browsing online forums.
