Hello, I was driving on the highway with my family and my engine had a sudden loss of power. I only have 52,000 miles on the engine and it has been serviced the entire time. We almost got in a major accident as we had cars and trucks moving around us at a very high speed as we tried to pull over in the breakdown lane. I brought the car to Daddario GMC in Shelton, CT. They did a diagnostic test
... and said that cylinder 2 was misfiring. Upon closer inspection they saw that there was oil sitting on top of the piston head which indicates engine failure. I have since contacted GM warranty services given my car was just past the warranty date of November 2025, but still under the 60,000 miles of coverage. I did some research and have seen this is a very common with these engines as GM did a recall on 600,000 already. For some reason my VIN # is not listed on the current recall even though my engine is in the same year as the others that were. I would like GM to cover my engine 100% but was told they may only pay a % to fix it. Can you do anything to help me get them to cover the engine at 100%? I also wanted to let you know about this issue as my VIN was not under recall and this may happen to other people/families who have the same engine as mine that isn't recalled. The contact owns a 2018 Alfa Romeo Giulia. The contact stated that while at a complete stop on several occasions, the engine abnormally revved to 1,100-1,400 RPMs. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed low speed on a ramp, the vehicle accelerated unintendedly and failed to decelerate while the brake pedal was depressed. Additionally, the contact stated that while at a complete st
... op at the red light, the engine revved, and the vehicle accelerated unintendedly while the brake pedal was depressed and struck another stopped vehicle. The air bags did not deploy. No police report was filed. The contact's vehicle sustained minor damage, while the other vehicle did not sustain damage. There was no warning light illuminated. There were no reported injuries. Both vehicles were drivable after the incident. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where it was test-driven, but the failure could not be duplicated. A third-party contractor, sent by the manufacturer, performed an evaluation of the vehicle and sent the raw data report to the contact. The contact noticed that the crash incident date listed on the report was March 4, 2026, while the incident occurred on April 4, 2026. The contact informed the third-party contractor of the error, and the contact was concerned that the contractor had pulled the wrong data because the incident date listed was incorrect. The manufacturer later sent a summary of the evaluation report to the contact, stating that the reported incident was not due to the manufacturer's responsibility. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 26,000.Read more

My wife was driving our 2016 Mazda CX-5, and was getting ready to pull into our daughters' driveway. My wife slowed down to a stop before entering the driveway. She gave the vehicle some gas to move forward. She stated that there was a pause, then the vehicle accelerated forward slamming into the garage door and the corner of the garage/house. There was also a Tesla parked inside the garage that w
... as knocked back about a foot and a half. The distance from the edge of driveway and street to the garage door is about 27 feet. This happened at 1:30 PM. The weather conditions were great, sunny and dry. Thankfully, no one was hurt. If my wife was another foot to the right, she would have hit the support post for the upper balcony, and there would have been a good chance of the balcony falling on top of her. Or, if someone was standing in front of my wife when she entered the driveway, they could have seriously been hurt! There were no warning lights on prior to the accident. This happened last Sunday, April 19, 2026. We had the car towed to a local body shop on the same day as the accident. The vehicle was towed away the very next day to our insurance company's salvage lot in Bakersfield. I do have all the information, address and phone number, of the lot where our car was towed to. Hopefully, the car can still be inspected by the proper authorities. Thank you for your time!Read more

2022 Ioniq 5 SE. ICCU failed April 2026 with around 29325 miles. Original owner. Purchased June 2022. I had the original Recall 272 software update performed back in February 2025, but the hardware still failed a year later. **Timeline of Failure:** 1. **Phase 1 (The Trigger):** Level 2 charging stopped unexpectedly before reaching the limit. It tripped my house breaker and unfortunately kille
... d my Level 2 EVSE (Grizzl-E) with a stuck relay. Didn't think too much of it because I had to be somewhere. Car started up normally and I was able to drive throughout the day with no problems. 2. **Phase 2 (The Warning):** The next day, I attempted Level 1 charging. It immediately tripped the breaker. I tried another outlet on a different breaker; the breaker didn't trip, but the car failed to initiate a charge after three attempts. 3. **Phase 3 (Dashboard Error):** After third failed attempt with the L1, I took a peek inside and saw the dashboard had a yellow triangle. With the charger still plugged in, I sat in the driver's seat and turned the car on. The **"Check EV System"** error appeared. I turned off the car and went inside to call the dealer. I called the dealer and they said I can have it towed there. They also scheduled an appointment for the next morning. I went back to car to attempt to position the car to make it easier for the tow truck, but the check ev error was not there when I turned on the car. It said ready and I was able to drive around the block a few times so I figured I'll just try to drive to the dealer. I drove the car to the dealer the next morning. It took **one week** to get my car back. **Diagnostics & Parts Replaced:** The dealer confirmed the following codes and performed a full hardware replacement: * **DTC P1E1300:** AC Power Module Failure * **DTC P1A9096:** DC/DC Converter Fault * **ICCU Part:** `36400-1XAA0-AQQH` * **HV Fuse:** `375F2-GI040-QQH` * **Coolant:** Install of Pink Antifreeze (`00232-19098`)Read more

I purchased a 2015 BMW i8 (salvage title) from Parkline Motors. The vehicle history (Carfax) disclosed prior front/right damage, which I accepted. However, the dealership failed to disclose critical safety-related defects associated with that damage. Shortly after taking possession of the vehicle, I experienced a malfunction in the SRS (Supplemental Restraint System), which controls the airbag sys
... tem. This is a serious safety issue, as it can affect proper airbag deployment. I also experienced a persistent alarm system malfunction that prevented me from locking the vehicle without triggering the alarm. When I took the vehicle to BMW for inspection, I was informed that the SRS malfunction was directly related to the prior accident damage. This indicates the issue existed prior to sale and should have been identified and disclosed by the dealership. I promptly notified Parkline Motors. They refused to take responsibility for the SRS safety defect and only offered limited assistance regarding the alarm system. The SRS issue remains unresolved and poses a significant safety risk. On 3/15/2026 I was on my way home from Massachusetts to Pennsylvania, and about 35 minutes into my drive I got an alert stating "High Engine Temperature Stop Safely", so I pulled over immediately and turned the car off. After allowing the engine to cool down, I opened the hood and started the car to see if I could identify any issues, the "Engine Fault Service Now" alert came up. This was the firs
... t time this ever happened, this put me, my two dogs who were in the car with me, and possibly others on the road at risk, had the conditions escalated. (i.e. under hood fire). The vehicle was towed to an Authorized Ford Dealership, Mathieu Ford Sales, Inc. who diagnosed the issue on 3/17/2026. The dealership removed the spark plugs to inspect cylinders and found coolant intrusion into cylinders significantly on cylinder 2. Dealership referenced TSB 22-2322, is recommending short block assembly and related parts to remedy concern. Dealership advised it was safe and okay to drive the vehicle slowly to a nearby residence (to store the vehicle/retain possession), noting to pull over if an alert pops up and to have it towed if I received another message like before. The dealership advised it was not safe to drive the vehicle back to Pennsylvania. There weren't any issues driving the vehicle back on 3/17/2026 following the dealership's guidance; the car hasn't been driven since. The car needed to be jumped to start the vehicle on 4/17/2026 for a tow truck to load the vehicle onto its bed. The vehicle is currently back in possession of the dealership who diagnosed the issue. Upon doing research, this appears to be a widespread manufacturing design defect that Ford has failed to properly address/recall. My vehicle met the criteria under their Customer Satisfaction Program in 2022 - the vehicle is an Escape, 2017-2019, assembled in Louisville, that was Built before April 8, 2019, and which exhibited a covered condition, having low coolant. On January 30, 2026 BMW was made aware of a problem with their starter motors in their 230 series cars that could result in the mechanism failing or in a worst case scenario, a fire starting. I am writing to formally report a potential safety-related defect involving BMW vehicles equipped with the B58TU engine, primarily affecting model years 2019 through 2021. My vehicle experienced a sudden loss of engine oil pressure that resulted in catastrophic engine failure. This condition occurred with little to no warning and led to immediate vehicle disablement. The failure created a hazardou
... s situation, as the vehicle was no longer able to maintain propulsion and could have placed occupants at risk because it occurred in active traffic or unsafe conditions. Based on my experience and additional research, the issue appears to originate from the engine’s oil pump design. Specifically, the oil pump contains an internal pressure-regulating component originally manufactured from plastic. This component is prone to fracturing, particularly during cold starts or low ambient temperatures. When this failure occurs, oil pressure becomes erratic or is lost entirely, often without sufficient warning to prevent engine damage or vehicle shutdown. My vehicle had this occur on January 20th 2026, as it was 5 Degrees outside. I suddenly lost oil pressure and had my vehicle’s engine catastrophically fail on a highway with my two small children ages (3) and (7 months) in the vehicle. In some cases, drivers may observe warning signs such as inability to measure oil level electronically, abnormal oil pressure readings, or drivetrain malfunction warnings. However, these indicators are inconsistent and often appear only moments before complete failure, leaving insufficient time for corrective action. This issue represents a significant safety concern for the following reasons: * Sudden loss of oil pressure can result in immediate engine shutdown or loss of propulsion while driving * Failures frequently occur under predictable conditions (cold starts in low temperatures), indicating a repeatable defect * Drivers are not provided with adequate warning to safely respond before damage.Read more

The vehicle underwent a BMW recall repair involving the blower motor wiring, completed at an authorized BMW dealership. Immediately after the recall repair, the blower motor began operating intermittently. The system turns on and off while driving. The blower motor function can be temporarily restored by physically moving the wiring harness behind the glove box in the area where the recall repair
... was performed. Upon inspection, the wiring in the repair area appears to have been cut and spliced, with sections exposed and not properly insulated. The intermittent failure appears directly linked to movement of this wiring harness. The dealership was informed of the issue and recommended replacing the blower motor. However, the blower motor was functioning properly prior to the recall repair. The symptoms began immediately after the recall service. This condition presents a potential electrical safety concern and loss of HVAC functionality while driving. Photos documenting the wiring condition are available. I am requesting review of this recall repair to determine whether it was performed correctly and whether corrective action is required.Read more

Subject: Formal Complaint – Safety Issue, Repeated Repair Failure, and Dealer Negligence (BMW X7) To Whom It May Concern, I am filing a formal complaint regarding a serious and ongoing safety issue involving my BMW X7 (VIN: [XXX] ), as well as repeated failure by an authorized BMW dealership (Fields BMW Winter Park, Florida) to properly diagnose and repair the vehicle. Since purchase, the vehicl

This condition requires constant manual refilling and repeatedly triggers warning alerts on the vehicle dashboard. Despite bringing the vehicle to the dealership no fewer than five times for the exact same issue, the problem remains unresolved. This represents a clear failure to repair a recurring defect, and more importantly, a potential safety hazard, as tire pressure instability directly affects vehicle control and operational safety. Additionally, during a recent service visit, the vehicle was returned in worse condition than when it was delivered: The tire issue was not resolved; The tires were returned underinflated; A check engine light was activated, which was not present prior to service. This raises serious concerns regarding both the technical competence of the service provider and the adequacy of post-service quality control procedures. Separately, I previously owned a BMW X6 (VIN: [XXX] ), purchased at the same time, which also experienced service-related issues. Due to the overall pattern of poor service and lack of resolution, I have already replaced that vehicle with a Mercedes-Benz. I am filing a safety complaint regarding a catastrophic timing chain failure on my 2014 BMW X3 xDrive28i equipped with the N20 engine. While driving, the timing chain and oil pump drive chain failed without warning. This is a well-documented defect on BMW N20/N26 engines that has been the subject of extended warranties and numerous consumer complaints. This failure can cause sudden engine seizur
... e, immediate loss of power steering and braking assist, and creates a serious risk of crash while the vehicle is in motion. BMW issued an Extended Limited Parts Warranty for this exact defect (timing chain and oil pump drive chain), acknowledging a manufacturing defect. However, BMW is refusing to cover my repair even though this is a known safety issue affecting thousands of vehicles. The vehicle had been properly maintained, and there were no warning signs before the failure. I purchased the vehicle in October 2021, and this defect occurred during normal use commuting to work. The cost of repair is extremely high due to the internal engine damage caused by the timing chain defect. This is not normal wear and tear. This is a known design/manufacturing defect that BMW has been aware of for years. Also, when I purchased this vehicle, the headlights, and taillights on the hatchback were not working. I had brought this up to the dealership they replaced the headlights, but did not address the tail lights. I am requesting that NHTSA investigate this defect further, and the tail lights as these failures create a significant safety hazard for drivers and other vehicles on the road.Read more
