My husband and I brought our 2010 X5 (VIN ), mileage: to BMW of El Cajon on 09/29/2025 for a recall service. Before the recall repaire, the vehicale was in normal working condition: -No check engine lights or warning indicators -No unusual noises -Fully drivable on a daily basis After the recall was completed, the dealership informed me that: -multiple check engine/warning lights appeared -The ve
... hicle developed a very loud/high pitch noise -They do not recommend driving the vehicle in its currently condition. They did not warn us about his initial, they did after informed them we do not feel safe driving the car in this condition. The dealership explained this happened because they had open a valve to perform the recall, which they claim disturbed "sludge". They are now refusing to correct the problem unless we pay out of pocket. The issue did not exist before the recall and occurred only as a direct result of the recall repair. The recall left my car unsafe and undriveable, and I am being told to pay for a problem that only arose due to a federally mandated recall work. The recall resulted in a vehicle that is no longer safe to drive, with multiple warning lights and severe engine noise. The dealers refusal to fix this without charing me undermines the purpose of a recall, which is to ensure safety at no cost to the owner. I ask NHTSA to investigate this matter and ensure BMW and its dealerships perform recall repairs properly, at no cost to consumers, and do not return vehicles in unsafe conditions.Read more

The contact owned a 2014 Honda CR-V. The contact stated that while driving approximately 65 MPH on a two-lane road, the contact pressed the brake pedal to avoid rear-ending the vehicle in front. The contact sustained severe facial and oral injuries along with a concussion, chest and arm bruising, which required medical treatment. A police report was filed at the scene. The vehicle was destroyed and towed away. The cause of the failure was not determined. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The dealer was not contacted. The contact was also concerned that metal fragments may have exploded from the air bag deployment. No additional information was available. The failure mileage was 70,000.Read more

I am reporting serious electrical/CPU defects and dealership workmanship issues with my 2022 Volkswagen Taos. Since purchase, the vehicle has shown repeated electronic malfunctions: dash blackouts, HVAC/remote start errors, infotainment resets, and a cooling fan that ran 24+ hours after shutoff. Warning alerts are delayed or absent (no warning before head gasket failure at 42k miles; oil-level al
... ert appeared 8 weeks after a dealer oil change; turbo underboost fault only appeared 9 months after a missing O-ring). Independent scans (AutoZone) have shown generic fault codes (ABS communication error), while Volkswagen dealerships repeatedly reported “no faults found.” Service staff told me they only read “VW codes,” ignoring generic ones that point to safety problems. Major events tied to these failures: Nov 2024: Head gasket failure at 42k miles, no warnings triggered. Aug 2025: Turbo charge pipe disconnected at highway speeds, car went into limp mode. Independent shop documented it “must have come loose or was not properly installed.” Sep 2025: EPC again; dealer found missing O-ring on intake pipe, likely from Nov 2024 repair. These failures have repeatedly stranded me in limp mode with my child in the car. The CPU’s failure to log and alert is a systemic defect. A similar delay with steering or braking could be deadly. I have raised concerns with Fox Valley Volkswagen since 2022 and sent certified letters in Sept 2025. They denied responsibility, calling each failure “unrelated.” Volkswagen of America also pushed me back to the dealer. This is not a one-off repair issue. It is a systemic CPU/electrical defect suppressing warnings until after failure, compounded by sloppy workmanship. My car is unsafe to drive. I request investigation into VW’s diagnostic practices, CPU/sensor monitoring delays, and dealer handling of safety-critical repairs. I have Service reports but I ran out of room and they couldn't be attached with the rest of the documents below.Read more

I have had it in the dealer for this. The explanation was if the battery is below 80% charge this will happen. Seems like a weird response. You would think that if it happens once when the battery is allegedly under 80% charge, if you immediately turn off the car, and restart it ( not giving the car time to charge) it would happen again. I was driving to Kansas on a road trip and we stopped for gas when we noticed the rear drivers side tire tilting inwards (top of tire angled towards the car). She also noted that she could see where the bolt was rubbing on the rear suspension sub-plate and could see the old rusted damage along with the new damage from recent driving. We towed it to Denver to have it looked at and the said the bolt and nut need to be replaced along with a tire alignment. There were no warning signs other than my car felt more bouncy than normal.
