Without any notice, I lost my power steering while driving. The wheel jerked to the side, and when I corrected I realized that I no longer had power steering. I was still able to "steer" my vehicle, but not without brute force. If it were someone of lesser ability (e.g. elderly) it may have led to a devastating outcome. I have yet to get the issue diagnosed, as it just happened yesterday, but

The engine and turbo system failed in my 2017 Infiniti Q50 Signature Edition (VIN [XXX] ). The vehicle remains at CarMax Naperville, where it has been since March 2025. Internal repair orders show CarMax performed two failed inspections in August 2020 before selling the vehicle as “CarMax Certified” on September 3, 2020. The vehicle should not have passed certification. Shortly after purchasi
... ng the vehicle, I noticed it was pulling hard to the right. During my first tire rotation and oil change, the technician informed me that all four tires were severely dry-rotted and unsafe to drive on. CarMax had represented the vehicle as fully inspected and road-ready. These conditions suggest the vehicle had sat for an extended period after a prior four-point accident and should have never been certified for sale. None of this was disclosed to me at purchase. In March 2025, the engine failed. CarMax later reported that a replacement engine was installed, part #10102-6HN3A (single-turbo) instead of the required #10102-5CH2D (twin-turbo VR30DDTT). This engine does not match the original factory specifications for my VIN. Infiniti of Naperville confirmed that my vehicle qualifies for a free extended turbo and engine warranty (TSB P4A05/P4A06), but CarMax declined to use the required OEM one-time-use parts, voiding that coverage. CarMax has refused to provide inspection reports, diagnostic data, emissions test results, or engine serial numbers despite over forty written requests. I have no documentation confirming what work was performed or whether the vehicle is safe or compliant with emissions standards. The car has now been sitting at CarMax for over seven months, with rusted brakes and unknown mechanical condition. They are just concerned about me coming to get the car. This raises serious concerns about safety, emissions compliance, and potential consumer fraud involving improper certification and undisclosed prior damage. On the evening of October 29, 2025, my 2025 Lexus RX 450h+ suffered two complete electrical failures within a few hours. ... e. The failure occurred at night, and I was stranded for nearly five hours. I repeatedly tried to reach Lexus Roadside Assistance, but the calls disconnected multiple times before I reached an agent. A tow truck was dispatched with a 90-minute ETA, but before it arrived, the vehicle suddenly restarted on its own. We finally got home close to 1:00 a.m. I am a single parent and this was a terrifying, unsafe situation that could have resulted in serious harm if my phone had died or if outside help had not stopped to assist us. The vehicle was brand new (leased April 2025) and has approximately 5,000 miles. It was taken to Serramonte Lexus for inspection, and Lexus Corporate is reviewing my request for replacement or buyback. This is an extremely dangerous defect affecting the 12-volt electrical system and electronic locking mechanisms. The vehicle doors should never be inoperable during power loss, especially when children are inside. I am filing this report so NHTSA is aware of this incident and can investigate whether similar failures are occurring in other 2025 Lexus RX 450h+ vehicles. BMW N63 Engine Powertrain Issues 2012 535i The N63 engine, utilized in various BMW models including the 2012 535i, has been subject to multiple customer complaints regarding premature timing chain wear and other powertrain-related issues. This led BMW to introduce a "Customer Care Package," detailed in Technical Service Bulletin (TSB) B110614, to address the concerns reported by multiple owners an
... d noted by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) under ID Number 11016414. A primary cause of the issue is accelerated timing chain wear. The N63 engine's design features timing chains that are prone to stretching prematurely. This stretching can disrupt the precise timing of the engine's valves, leading to a cascade of problems. As a consequence, owners have reported a variety of symptoms, including the illumination of the "drivetrain malfunction" warning light, noticeable engine noise, excessive vibration, and potentially catastrophic engine failure. The "drivetrain malfunction" message, in particular, is a frequently cited indicator of this underlying powertrain problem. To address these widely reported issues, the N63 Customer Care Package was implemented. This service bulletin instructs authorized BMW technicians to perform a series of diagnostic tests. The main objective is to detect if the timing chains have stretched beyond acceptable tolerances. If excessive wear is confirmed, the TSB provides a detailed procedure for the necessary repairs. This often involves replacing the timing chains and related components to restore proper engine function. Beyond the core timing chain replacement, the Customer Care Package also includes several proactive and preventative measures. Technicians are instructed to check and potentially replace other components, such as fuel injectors and boost solenoids, which may have been impacted or contributed to the engine's performance issues. Furthermore, the service includes reprogramming the vehicle's softwareRead more

My 2012 Hyundai Sonata (VIN: [XXX] ) experienced complete engine failure at 241,433 miles on August 7, 2025. The failure aligns with known safety defect symptoms described under NHTSA Recall Campaign 15V568000 and 17V226000, which cite premature bearing wear due to metal debris during engine manufacturing. My car was less than a year old, had been at the dealership for routine maintenance on September 24th, and with no warning signals from the vehicle's electronics smoke started coming out from the hood while I was ~20 minutes into my drive to work. Within a short period of time there were flames, and ultimately the car was engulfed in flames, resulting in a total loss.

I continue to get a check engine light on my car that reads code P0101. The very first time it happened I took it to a mechanic they read the diagnostic code and advised I would need to replace the Mass Airflow sensor. I purchase the part from a Nissan dealership and it was replaced by a mechanic approximately January 2025. The light would continue to come on sporadically. I took it back and was t
... old that engine air filter was dirty. It was replaced the code was cleared and driving fine. 10 months later the same light and code are appearing on my car. It’s been taken to a mechanic whom after checking wiring and other components again believes it’s the mass air flow sensor. This part is not cheap but continues to cause a problem even when replaced with genuine parts.Read more

On October 17, 2025 at approximately 3:15 PM in the parking lot of a shopping mall at 2040 Lomita Blvd, Lomita, CA, our 2025 BMW iX M60 suddenly accelerated forward unintentionally while the driver was attempting to park. The vehicle made a loud “whirring” sound as if the motor engaged on its own, and it lurched forward rapidly without any acceleration input from the driver. The car traveled o
... nly about 2 feet before crashing into a wall in front of the parking space. All front and side airbags deployed. The driver (my father) suffered a chest fracture and hand laceration, and the passenger (my minor son) sustained severe bruises to the chest and shoulder from seat belt impact. The Driver (my father) was hospitalized for four days. The vehicle was towed to a body shop and is currently under insurance inspection for total loss. This appears to be a case of Sudden Unintended Acceleration (SUA) possibly related to the vehicle’s electronic drive control system. We request that NHTSA and BMW investigate this incident to determine if there is a safety defect in the 2025 BMW iX EV platform.Read more
