BMW NA and its authorized dealership and self-funded arbitration program business practices and conducts are unfair, dishonest, and unlawful. Since I purchased my car, it has had material defects related to its engine, engine electrical systems, engine and gearbox suspension, steering and wheel alignment, front and rear axles, intermediate and special transmission, fuel tank, and more. I recently discovered my car's existing defects codes stored and archived by BMW, referred to as Key Data. The existing faults are considered significant by a reasonable person when deciding whether to buy this car. I would not have purchased this car if I had been aware of the defects at the time of purchase. I also discovered that BMW's authorized dealership withheld material information about my car's defects when my car was at the repair shop overnight. According to my DCSnet Warranty Vehicle Inquiry document, BMW made some sort of repair on my car for that service visit without my prior authorization and filed a warranty repair claim with the manufacturer. I have spent months and countless hours attempting to resolve my car's defects with BMW NA, its authorized dealership, and their self-funded arbitration program, BBB Auto Line. On 11/08/2021, following subsequent repairs by BMW's authorized dealership, the check engine light came on while driving on the freeway.Read more

On 11/10/2021 while driving on US Rte 29 in Silver Spring, MD, the car stalled during stop & go rush hour traffic. The car would not move forward in drive but I had enough momentum to move partially in the shoulder lane. Next the car began to drift backwards so I kept my foot on the brakes until the tow truck arrived. I had the car towed to the BMW dealer and the next day I was informed that it ne
... eded a new transmission for a cost of $26,000.00. My car has under 72,000 miles and I maintained all recommended preventative maintenance. I bought it brand new for $84,000.00 with 2 miles. Please investigate this obvious manufacturer defect as I believe the dealer and/or BMW should handle all costs. I was lucky since innocent commuters could have been severely injured and killed; including myself. The experience was terrifying and presents a safety Hazzard to the public. These tech heavy vehicles are good for the environment and societal progress but they must perform according to the expectations and requirements of the US Government. The BMW Service Dept. has decided upon merit to my complaint and lowered my contribution to $8,000.00 after I just paid $84,000.00 for the new vehicle. Again, I believe they should handle all costs. US consumers expect safety, reliability and dependability on all vehicles and when that fails, we only have your Agency to supersede and demand justice. Thank you for this opportunity. Sincerely, [XXX] INFORMATION Redacted PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6). Consumer's 2018 BMW 40e plug-in hybrid cut off again while driving. I believe manufacturers are suppossed to provide replacement parts for 10 years. It appears BMW is circumventing this law by makinig it harder and more expensive to get replacement parts before ten years has passed by making owners purchase unnecessary parts as an assembly. First case with my BWM X1- The inside door handle has a snap-in plastic cover coated with a rubber/plastic compound that dete
... riorates over time into a gooey substance that comes off onto your hand when entering or exiting the car. The dealer requires owner to purchase the whole door panel costing well over $1,000 not including the labor. The part itself can be purchased on eBay from China for approximately $16. Snaps on. Second case is for my BMW 2011 335i convertible. The dealer ran the car through their car wash and one piece of the convertible hardtop trim (plastic) broke. The dealer told me I had to pay over $680 (after discount) for a set of 6 trim pieces even though I needed just one. BMW used to sell the individual parts, but now they don't. IN addition to the parts, I'd have to pay to have the body shop paint the parts and then the labor to install them. Almost $1,000 to replace one plastic part not worth $25. Kit PN 54-37-5-A19-AA4, part I need was PN 54377184037. Second incident just happened this week. Although my 335i is now 10 years old, they were selling the kit several years ago, long before the ten years were up. They are deliberately forcing people to not repair their vehicles by pricing the parts so high that the owners can't afford it.Read more

My husband was driving 20-25 mph and heard a loud "boom" - then his engine compartment began smoking. We had the vehicle towed to the BMW dealership. A rod was thrown through the engine compartment and the engine needed to be replaced. We are the original owners of the vehicle and service it regularly. There were no leaks, noises, lights, nor any other indications of trouble prior to the engine b

Unintended acceleration with loss of braking effectiveness. We hit a tree head on going at least 50 by the time we struck it. The vehicle was inspected before we bought it and we only bought it 3 days before the accident occurred. The check engine light came on that afternoon and we were going to get it checked out on Monday.

I bought 4 new tires. They were balanced at Sam's Club when I purchased them. Then i went to get the alignment done the next day and they said my tie-rods were shot. Just the front...not the back. I have not had an accident or incident yet but I am concerned. My car has 83,000 miles.

After hearing a very loud bang. I noticed a very bad vibration during normal operation of the vehicle. Today I was able to find the problem. The 4 bolts that hold the motor mount bracket to the engine block were sheared off. After just a little research on this issue. It seems this a very common incident on all newer bmw vehicles. In the course of this damage, I now need several thousand dollars w
... orth of repairs that are directly attributed to this bolt failure. The rest of the owners that have experienced this issue have had the same outcome. I am having my vehicle towed to a shop in a few days to get an estimate on the damages. Since this is obviously an ongoing and known issue for BMW vehicles, BMW should issue a recall or a service bulletin that will cover repairs to their vehicles.Read more
