In May 2021 I purchased a 2018 Certified Pre-owned BMW 330e Plug-in Hybrid with 20K miles from the BMW dealership at Glendale, CA. My car is under original manufacture warranty to this day but I also have paid for an extra warranty and maintenance program. On December 26th, 2021, as I was driving back from Las Vegas on highway 15, about 40 miles into the trip, my car dash displayed an error mess
... age "Charging Malfunction" immediately after this error, the entire car systems INCLUDING BREAKS AND STEERING WHEEL! stopped working. I lost control of my car and my car went towards the right side of the road where there's no asphalt and it's all dirt and pebbles. car was finally stopped with the help of manual handbrake but I was terrified and I felt lucky to survive the incident. BMW roadside assistance towed my car to the BMW dealership in Las Vegas since it's the closes dealer. they said they don't have any loaner car and I should get rentals and they will pay for it at the end since it's part of my warranty is to provide "Transportation" while the car is at the shop. they also said once my car is fixed, they will "reunite" my car in Los Angeles. 2 days after, the dealership declined any repair due to a leak on the radiator and I was told my car was "Overheated". Although my car had no indication of overheating ever or at the time of the incident. The picture I took from the error also shows the temperature of my car which is normal. See picture. I can't wrap my head around losing break and steering wheel without any prior error or indication of overheated car. BMW is can't explain why and neither can my insurance after reviewing my car's computer logs, how could I trust driving this car again if break and steering wheel could fail without any prior indication of overheating or low coolant or ANY error? A car that is still under manufacturer warranty with only 31K miles! who will be responsible if I crash and get injured or die if this happens next time?Read more

The airbag light and seatbelt light came on randomly. The airbag sensor is off, and the “passenger airbag off” light is illuminated even when there’s somebody sitting in the car. This is a major safety issue, as the vehicle doesn’t recognize when somebody is sitting in the passenger seat and wont deploy airbags when there’s a wreck.

On January 22, 20222, I was traveling down highway 400 in Sandy Springs, Georgia and my left (driver's side) // rear tire EXPLODED and I almost lost control of the vehicle. It was a sunny day; the pavement was dry and it was about 45 degrees. The tires were filled with nitrogen. I inspected all tires before I started driving and I didn't see anything unusual or previous damage. There were no warning lamps or messages before my tire EXPLODED. The car did sustain damage to the driver's side rear bumper cover and possibly suspension components. All four tires were purchased from Costco in September 2020 when the vehicle had 113,429 miles. The vehicle currently has 114,668 miles on the odometer and approx. had 114,648 miles on it at the time of the incident. All four tires are Michelin Pilot Sport All Season 4. Driving as normal, and came to stoplight at intersection of busy highway. Stopped for red light, and call stalled, and couldn't be restarted. Just as the car shut off, I got a Drivetrain Malfunction warning. Had to have a tow company tow vehicle to my BMW dealer 50+ miles away. Being at a busy intersection at night, and not being able to move the car (couldn't get it out of park), it put the d
... river at risk until assistance arrived because oncoming traffic wasn't prepared for a vehicle in the middle of the road, and not moving (even with 4-way flashers on) and having the driver stand on the roadside would have been just as dangerous. After running diagnostics, dealer stated timing belt snapped and caused engine damage. Cost of repair would be $13,000 which exceeded the value of the car; ended up buying new car with basically no trade-in value on this car and no financial assistance from BMW. Interesting enough, when I took delivery of my new vehicle, my sales person said there were 2 additional vehicles in their repair shop with the same issue.Read more

My front axle support has extensively rusted, even though the vehicle is only approximately nine (9) years old. I suffered a breakdown in my 2014 BMW 328d on 26 Oct 21 with a drive train malfunction warning. Vehicle stalled and was unable to be restarted. Vehicle was towed to local repair shop, International Auto Specialist, located in Fredericksburg, VA, and diagnosed as a high pressure fuel pump failure and calling for the entire replacement of the vehicles fuel system. At the recommendation of my local
... repair shop, the vehicle was then towed 59 miles to the closest BMW dealership, BMW Fairfax, VA, for repair. The safety issue I have is that a recall notice (Recall Campaign #21V-586) was issued by BMW North America in September 2021 for High Pressure Fuel Pump failures affecting 2014-2018 BMW diesel engine vehicles ranging from 3 Series, 5 Series, 7 Series, X3 SAV, and X5 SAV models. I never received a recall notice for this vehicle, or my 2015 BMW X5d SAV, and have been told by BMW Fairfax, VA, and BMW Corporate that my high pressure fuel pump only carries an extended 10-year, 120,000 warranty, even through both vehicles falls within the parameters of the open recall notice issued by BMW North America. Further, BMW Fairfax, VA has informed me that all other parts damaged by the High Pressure Fuel Pump failure are not covered by the extended warranty and any cost associated with additional repairs is the customers responsibility, regardless of the fact that they will only replace the defective part at the time of failure and not before. How can BMW North America issue a recall notice for a specific group of vehicles, but not include all vehicles that fall within the specifications associated to the recall? This part failure occurred while I was driving in heavy traffic and I was fortunate it did not cause series bodily harm to myself or others. I respectfully request you investigate the situation to determine BMW's liability and inept handling of this recall in order to prevent others from being harmed. Documentation can be provided if necessary. Thank you.Read more
