Failed component: Failure for a motor vehicle to signal the intention to perform a U-TURN maneuver. Safety at risk: U-TURN maneuvers often result in accidents that cause material damage, severe injuries and death of motorists, passengers, motorcycle riders, bicyclists, and pedestrians. These accidents usually happen due to the inability of drivers to properly signal or warn others of the inten
... tion to execute a U-TURN maneuver because of the non-existence of a U-TURN signal in motor vehicles. Problem reproduced/confirmed? Yes, this problem occurs every day on the public roads/streets of our Nation. Has vehicle/component been inspected? NO, the U-TURN signal has not been added under the NHTSA; therefore, no regulations exist for manufacturers, police, insurance, or others to inspect. Warning lamps/messages? NO, to this day, there is no official warning signal method to alert motorists of the intention to perform, and execution of a U-TURN maneuver. THE SOLUTION: Include U-TURN Signal devices and methods as part of the FMVSS No. 108. An effective/productive/economical and financial U-TURN Signal solution can be attained by the implementation of Patent # US 10,919,442 B1; Devices and methods for motor vehicle U-TURN signaling. The U-Turn signal solution offered under Patent # US 10,919,442 B1 is highly achievable at a low cost to implement. The patent uses a combination of existing and approved lamps, reflective devices, and associated equipment, such as headlamps, reverse lamps, turn-signal lamps, and side lamps modules used in concert to generate a universally applicable signal that communicates to other travelers that a U-TURN maneuver is intended and under execution. The signaling device can be implemented via the use of a U-TURN signal switch that activates the light modules of a vehicle that correspond to the direction of the U-TURN maneuver. WE NEED TO ACT NOW TO REDUCE TRAFFIC ACCIDENTS/INJURIES/DEATHS RESULTING FROM THE LACK OF U-TURNS WARNING SIGNALRead more

I purchased this 2009 BMW K1300GT used from a dealer 3 weeks ago. He only let me do a short test drive around the block and it ran fine. I purchased it and began riding it daily to and from work, 48 miles round trip. There are 6 lights and 4 Stop sighs on my route. If I do a slow roll through a stop it comes close to stalling. If there are several cars ahead of me at a stop sign, or I hit a r
... ed light and have to wait awhile or sit through three lights at traffic hour, it stalls while I'm waiting. This has happened many times. Yesterday during traffic hour I was at a red light that cycled three times until I got through it. The bike stalled five times there. One time it stalled at a red light. Just before it turned green it stalled again, turning my rear lights off. There was a full size truck rolling up behind me very fast. Since it stalled out and the lights were off, it appeared to him that I was moving. At the last second he slammed on his brakes, I started the bike and quickly rode onto the shoulder and he drove by me still skidding. I would have been killed! The dealer never said a word about this well known and highly documented issue with this year, make and model of this BMW motorcycle.Read more

I had no mechanical issues with the motorcycle upon purchase and took it in to the dealership for the 600 mile service. I rode the motorcycle a few times and had no mechanical issues. On 3/13/22 I was in 3rd gear decelerating to stop at a stop sign and the motorcycle quit running. The engine abruptly shutoff and a message appeared on the TFT which read “Fault in the engine control. Onboard
... journey possible. Ride carefully to next specialist workshop” (see attached photo). The bike had approximately 1000 miles on it at the time of the failure. I will specify the bike did not go into limp mode it shutoff completely while I was riding on the roadway. I turned off the ignition 3 time before the engine would start again. The engine shutting off without warning was a very scary and dangerous situation which caused me to park the motorcycle immediately to research the problem. I didn’t find anything specific concerns online or warnings regarding this issue. On 3/14/22 the bike shutoff in the exact same manner two more times. On 3/15/22 it shutoff exactly the same manner. I took video of this incident with my helmet camera, but the file is too large to attach. This caused me to again stop riding and disrupted our vacation plans with the motorcycle. On 3/18/22, I returned the motorcycle to the dealership and explained what had occurred. On 3/25/22, I went to the dealership after they called and said the motorcycle was repaired and ready for pickup. The service department resolution on the receipt states “Found fuel pump fault but fuel pump working properly. Installed software update that addresses this issue. Bile has no faults now”. On 3/25/22, after leaving the dealership I rode approximately 80 miles and the same exact problem starting occurring. The motorcycle shutoff with no warning thirteen times on this day causing me to try and find a safe place to pull off of the highway which wasn't always possible. No warnings messages appeared before.Read more

2014 BMW 328i Xdrive, 62K miles. Routine oil change and filter change serviced at BMW dealership Feb 2022. March 2022 (<30 days later), suffered catastrophic engine failure related to camshaft oil starvation and sudden loss of power while driving on highway at 60 mph. Dealership investigation unable to determine the cause, ruled out N20 timing chain and oil pump chain issues. Neither BMW NA nor de
... alership would stand behind engine failure - BMW NA stated the "car is too old." Full engine replacement completed at the expense of the customer ($11K). Very disappointing that an engine would suffer catastrophic failure related to oil starvation within one month of dealership oil service with multi-point inspection. BMW F30 N20 engines have numerous reports of failures.Read more

I bought a 2007 BMW 335i convertible on March 10th 2022. On March 18th I left my house and as I was pulling out of my neighborhood the vehicle cut off at about 25 miles an hour and as I pulled over I noticed black smoke coming out from under the hood. There were no warning lights on with the exception of a random airbag light that came on the day after I bought the car and a tire pressure monitor
... light. My wife and I pulled over and I ran to a nearby house and took a case of Dasani water from painters who were working (with their permission). I got the fire put out within minutes of its starting but the wiring harness is completely melted together along with all of the induction piping to the turbos and the intake manifold and fuel line. I told the car home and had my insurance agent look at it. She said because it was a fire it would be a mechanical issue and needed to go to the BMW dealership. I paid to have it towed there that day. The dealer called me about an hour after the car showed up there and said that they would not service or inspect the vehicle for damage because I have the wrong insurance company. I was forced to tow the car back home after being turned away by several other dealerships and collision centers due to the high volume of mechanical work already on their lots. BMW has open recalls on 3 series vehicles because they can have engine fires. My car for some reason is not one of the ones they cover under that recall. Still have no resolution from my insurance company on what to do because the car hasn't been officially inspected by a BMW technician. I've now towed the car three times and I'm exactly where I was at the beginning of this claim.Read more
