The Kia lacks engine immobilizers. The Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard states that vehicles must be equipped with a starting system that prevents the activation of the engine and either steering, forward mobility, or both, whenever a car's key is removed. The purpose of the law is to decrease the likelihood that a vehicle will be stolen or accidently set in motion, and the statute applies
... to all passenger cars, trucks and multipurpose passenger vehicles in the country. Kia knew or had knowledge to add an engine immobilizer or similar device to the cars but failed to do so despite knowing how dangerous it was to be with the critical theft prevention measures. My 2020 Kia is not safe and reliable and considered dangerous. Due to insurance companies not renewing policies on Kia vehicles and the extreme decline in value of my Kia, have made my vehicle not safe, undriveable, and not reliable. Kia falsely stated the cars are fit for their normal and intended use despite they lacked engine immobilizers at the time of sale. All of this in violation of the law and the Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard. I have a vehicle worth $12,000 less than I bought it 8 months ago and will soon not be able to insure my vehicle and will be unable to drive it.Read more

In 2009, we bought this 2006 BMW 750Li as pre-owned and certified warranty from BMW of Tenafly, New Jersey. We have registration address maintained in New Jersey, and have not updated, even though we moved to Chicago, Illinois in summer of 2011. BMW issued 6 recalls for 7-series manufactured between 2005 and 2008. The recalls on manufacturer defects on electric and transmission in 2012 and 2013, a
... nd again in 2017. We missed all of the notices for these recalls. The vehicle was driven for less than 50,000 miles, from 2009 to 2019. The vehicle was inspected, and in good mechanical conditions, as well as body, since the vehicle has been garaged most of times. Since 2019, the vehicle has been in shops for repairs for electric and transmission and engine. It has been more than 3 years for our vehicle in the shops, and over $21,000 spent, there is no sign that the vehicle can be driven. Thus, we checked the online and found out the BMW recalls on this vehicle in 2012 and 2013. We called BMW Customer Relations & Services, multiple times. BMW denied the recalls. We checked with the attorneys, including the ones who filed class action suits against BMW with billion dollars win for the customers on BMW defects. All said BMW shall honor their recalls. Further, the recalls will never be expired. Now BMW has declined taking calls, responding email, and recently shifting the failing repair to a BMW dealer. What shall we do? We have sent letter to their legal department. A shop who tried to repair over 2 years reported to us that this 2006 BMW 750Li has a very bad reputation on electric and transmission. He said this is a common agreement among BMW dealers. Since BMW customer relations and services now shut us out, what department within BMW shall we go to. Shall we find an attorney for another class action suit, which occurred already? The consumer is requesting reimbursement of $21k for repairs made as well as payment made to purchase the vehicle.Read more

Rear driver's side wheel speed sensor began to fail intermittently at 10K miles (confirmed and replaced under warranty by dealership, no longer have access to the failed part but can provide dealer contact info). This failure resulted in braking not working correctly – presumably ABS system would read a 0 RPM reading from the one wheel, which then led to ABS triggering at maximum strength for a
... ll wheels. The first time this occurred I was approaching a stop sign at approximately 20 MPH on dry pavement and was entirely unable to stop, rolling approximately 50 feet before the computer disabled ABS entirely and I was able to use mechanical brakes to stop. (In subsequent incidents I triggered the same failure in my driveway at extremely low speeds before getting onto a public road.) The following dashboard lights came on after each incident: Auto Hold, Auto Stop-Start, Forward Collision Assist, ABS, Traction Control, and Master Warning. No lights were on prior to brake failure. While the computer registered that the wheel speed sensor was not working mechanical brakes worked correctly (albeit with no stability control or ABS). However, occasionally the system would reset (after turning off / on the vehicle enough times or driving enough distance) at which point dashboard warning lights would turn off and brakes would again stop working reliably (ABS would trigger prematurely). My experience appears to not be an isolated incident: https://www.kiatelluride.org/threads/brakes-failing.1653/. Proposed fix: If wheel speed sensor is sending no data, ABS computer should fail open (assume the wheel is turning unless data from the sensor explicitly indicates otherwise). If the sensor is unable to differentiate between no signal and 0 RPM it should be re-engineered.Read more
