I am a ASE Master Mechanic and I do my own servicing. Recently I had some bad tires and bought new ones. Since I had the wheels off, I performed a wheel bearing and brake inspection. The rear left wheel had some small wobbling. When I took off the bearing cap I noticed hardly any grease. I took the hub off and there was hardly any grease on the inside bearing also. ... e someone used a ½ teaspoon of grease for the 2 bearings. The outside bearing was so loose it almost fell apart in my hand. Upon further inspection I noticed the outside bearing and axel shaft showed some heat stress and the bearing race was loose. I changed the bearing and race. Repacked with grease and reassembled. Then noticed the rear axel aft shackel was broken from the frame. The wobbling wheel must have caused excess vibration, cracking the welds. The spring was pushed up against the frame. I cleaned up the area and rewelded shackle to the frame. I moved to the right side. After inspecting, bearings were good. Greased and reinstalled. I realize that buying axels, they are already assembled. But somebody should have removed the caps and checked for proper greasing prior to installing on the trailer. I do not use the trailer that often. But, those that do use their trailer often, may cause an issue later down the road before their first bearing repack could be performed.Read more

The clips that hold the KAFAS camera system are faulty and easily break. The KAFAS unit gets exceptionally hot and damages the clips causing the unit to go out of alignment and then cause all of the safety features to fail. The fact that you have to replace the whole windshield to repair two small plastic clips is an egregious mechanical design failure, waste of resource, and just insane design.

... happened to us on a clear toll road in Southern California on Hwy 73, both on June 7th, 2023 and in April/May 2023, where the Tesla slams on its brakes, decelerating us from 65mph to 38mph and below (at which point I slammed the accelerator pedal to avoid a rear end collission), with vehicles directly behind us, almost causing a dangerous accident. This happened with my three children in the back seat. We have experiencing this phantom braking twice in the last 2 months. In all cases the vehicle was well centered in the lane and there was no vehicle in the lane ahead of us, nor did we recently change lanes. I created a service ticket with Tesla, including bringing it into the service center at Lake Forest, CA, as scheduled, and they explained in person that there is nothing they can do, that they are unable to retrieve any video footage from the vehicle, and sent us away without even looking at the vehicle, replacing any hardware, hardware testing, or test driving it for themselves. We are at a complete loss of what to do with this vehicle that is only 6 months old. The vehicle has no warning lights or error messages prior to any of these failures. My vehicle has had a multitude of errors for 5 months now about the safety systems being disabled, seat controls malfunctioning, etc. Tesla refused to repair the car (despite only being months old) because I had requested a buyback due to other electrical issues with the vehicle. ... contacted Tesla about this months ago and after they pulled the logs from the car, I was assured it was just a generic error and assured me that the car was safe to drive. Today, I found out how to access "service mode" where I could read ALL of the service alerts. It turns out the vehicle is reporting electrical "resistance too high" errors with the airbags which is clearly a safety issue. These errors go back months and were present when Tesla lied about the vehicle being safe to drive. Could the electrical issues cause the airbags to not deploy in a crash or, worse, deploy when they should not which would likely result in a crash? The errors appear to indicate that as they state "The left seat airbag may not perform as designed" and "The farside airbag may not perform as designed". Meanwhile, it's been nearly 5 months since I requested the buyback from Tesla due to this vehicle not being safe to drive, breaking down repeatedly, etc, and they have STILL not responded to my requests. I am at a loss as to how a car manufacturer can get away with such egregious behavior that puts their customers in danger.Read more

This car also started having power steering problems early this year, I took it to a good mechanic who replaced the power steering lines and fixed what ever could be causing a leak/ power steering problems. I don't drive my car a lot, just in town usually, and after a few weeks the power steering is all messed up again (which there is a recall on the power steering issue for this year, make, and model but does not appear to include my VIN).
