The repair required the replacement of the rear differential. Had this event occured on a busy street, it could have resulted in a vehicle accident. The loss of vehicle control when the vehicle was placed in "park" could have also been a safety risk. This event is similar to the Ford recall of the Explorer for a rear axel bolt fracture (NHTSA recall 23V-199 and 22V-255). My vehicle VIN # has not been added to the recall list, therefore, Ford has refused to consider reimbursement for the cost of the repairs. I would like the NHTSA to consider adding my VIN# to the recall for this design defect.Read more

Now Jeep has stated that the part is under engineering review and not available till June timeframe. Therefore, these vehicles no longer have anti lock brakes or traction control safety features. Waited 2 hours for tow back to service dept the same day I picked up vehicle. 8 Feb '24- picked up car from service department. They performed engine combustion chamber cleaning and reported excessive cylinder wall scoring. Service advisor feels confident this fixed the problem. I feel unsafe driving a car that has left me stranded multiple times on busy highways and freeways, especially with children. The service manager could not tell me what the problem with the car was but that he was told by Toyota that the car was "safe to drive." I refused to drive the car until the axles were replaced and Toyota promptly provided me with a rental car. When the axles were replaced the car drove very differently. The steering was tighter and the car no longer felt like a "bathtub" on the highway. Previously, the car would float and have poor road feel, I worried about its response to an emergency maneuver and consequently drove the car very conservatively. I was disappointed that my new car did not feel like the Grand Highlander I drove as a test before purchase. Now with the replaced axles the car's response is similar to the test vehicle and I am much more confident in its emergency handling. I fear that there is a serious problem with some of the Grand Highlander's front end. I wanted to alert the NTSA on a potential hazardous situation, especially since Toyota is recommending that the affected cars be continued to be driven despite the identified problem with a major component.Read more

Neither iPedal nor the foot brake pedal had any effect on the car. I then put the car in reverse and backed the car into my driveway and the brakes worked as expected. When I then attempted to charge the vehicle, the charging port would not open. I could hear the motor working to open but it would not open. On 1/11/2024, I again attempted to open the charging port and this time it did open. So, TWO different electrical (including the brakes and the charging port) were not working properly. Inasmuch as the charging port again worked and the brakes again worked, there clearly was a malfunction that was random and unpredictable and also nearly impossible to reproduce but if this happened once, it could happen again. The brakes failed. Had we been traveling on a busy road, or at the top of a hill, we would have faced significant bodily harm, death to ourselves or others. This car had been driven locally, predominantly on local roads. The car is available for inspection and has only been driven on the dealer lot since the the incident. There were no warning lights or messages to indicate that any issues existed. The manufacturer has executed an inspected but has not reproduced the problem. The manufacturer and dealership claims the car is safe to drive without addressing the brake failure. I do not believe the car is safe to drive without a determination of how the bake failure happened or without a repair to that issue.Read more

When I started car I got service messages for side detection system, tire monitor system, safety restraint system, front camera system, trailer break system and theft deterrent system. Each one gave option to dismiss. When I would dismiss the messages would come back. When I was driving, all the things on dash, mph, oil, battery etc all stayed on zero. Took the vehicle twice to Toyota to check on console vibration originating from possible drivetrain (normally in cold weather). This was done under extended warranty. Also had transmission fluid replaced. Service department noticed fluid low even though there was no transmission leak. ... ted. About 10K miles after last attempt to get issue fixed, the transmission failed with no caution, no warning and no error codes. Symptoms included little to zero acceleration from a dead stop and inability to accelerate to higher speeds when necessary (main safety issue). Eventually, vehicle was not able to accelerate. ... e side wall, close to the rim. The road I was on was not pristine or super smooth, but it did NOT have any large bumps or potholes and I wasn't going that fast to begin with. I have only had this car for a couple of months and it only has approximately 1,000 miles on it. If this had happened at highway speeds I think it would have been much more dangerous. I had to call roadside assistance to change the tire for me. The tire that blew out is completely unusable now and the wheel is also damaged, presumably because I had to drive it a short distance so I could park safely and have the tire change in a safe spot. The tires are the factory default that came with the brand-new car. I should note that AFTER this incident, I went home and started researching online and very easily saw that there are MANY VW Arteon owners whose cars with the same 20" Continental tires have also been experiencing blowouts, often multiple times and for no good reason, and have not been able to get any meaningful response from VW or Continental. So this is not an isolated problem and I believe the government should investigate and make the companies do right by their customers affected by this safety defect in their products.Read more

The Side Detection System failed. Both rare modules are shorted. The defective module drain out the battery, causing engine start failure. And the defective module may cause fire. I have one side of the modules repaired in three years ago. Now both sides are failed. I had two jump start in the recent month. Every time I start the engine, warning for service of Side Detection System shows up.
