I decided to have my car towed to the service shop that I usually take my car to when I’m not doing minor replacements and they said that it was a problem with the engine due to a manufacturer design fault. The said that as a result of the design flaw coolant was getting into the engine. They said that it was coolant intrusion. I did my research and found out that my car falls under this known fault. I have a 2018 Ford Escape. I was not made aware of this problem when I purchased my vehicle in November of 2022. At that time there was a voluntary program that said that owners with this make could have a one time replacement of the engine. I am now out of a car as a result of this known problem. I STOPPED BY THE REPAIR FACILITY AND THEY USED A SNAP-ON SCANNER TO DETERMINE IT WAS THE LEAD FRAME ISSUE AS THEY'D REPAIR MANY PRIOR. WHEN LEAVING THE SHOP THE TRANS WAS "STUCK" IN NEUTRAL AND THE TRUCK WOULDN'T SHIFT TO A GEAR. WITH MOVING THE SHIFTER SEVERAL TIMES I WAS ABLE TO FIND A GEAR AND PROCEED HOME. THE TRANS THEN SHIFTED EXTREMELY HARD AT TIMES, OR SLIP GEARS AS WELL IF ACCELERATING. UPON DRIVING THE TRUCK BACK FOR MY APPOINTMENT TWO DAYS LATER I ONCE AGAIN HAD THE 2ND GEAR WHEEL SKID FROM 6TH GEAR SLAMMING DOWN HARD INTO 2ND. No warnings were given, no slips, no leaks, smells, shuttering or ticking. Nothing to make me think this would happen!! Ultimately, confirmed by Nissan as an internal transmission failure. I maintained my vehicle well. I only do in Town driving. I don’t believe there anything I could’ve done to prolong the use of my transmission, or avoid this. My car has 112k miles. I’m just outside the timeframe, age and miles for Nissans extended warranties on this exact make and model, and goodwill assistance - Despite the known problems. I owe a large amount of money on this car and it being inoperable is really damaging financially. Tesla has auto-park in the supervised FSD. My wife was using it to park the car in a public garage and it hit a post. The car was damaged. It was too quick for my wife to intervene. I know it is supervised, but there is no time to intervene when it comes to parking where the spot to park is close to other cars or posts anyway.

At the time of the incident, the vehicle was subject to a safety recall related to the starter with no remedy available. The failure occurred without warning. This leaves a large amount of vehicle owners with the financial liability to pay out of pocket for Mazda's engineering and manufacturing defect that they know about. The oil leaks onto the exhaust manifold creating a fire hazard.

BMW Service Bulletin SI B22 04 15 to replace motor mount bolts and other components due to failure in 2016 was done on my vehicle in 2016. BMW has replaced all motor mounts in 2014 and 2015 i3's in Europe. The motor mounts were redesigned for 2016 and newer models.
