Many years ago Audi advised that there is a defect with the air bag in my vehicle, and that they would change it for free. I contacted a dealer and they said they would contact me after the part is available. They have done nothing, the defective air bag is still in the car, the company still explains that the airbag can cause serious injury to occupants, and I still drive my family in the car.
... Now they are suggesting that because the car is nearing 15 years old they may disregard the risk to my family and not take responsibility for the defective air bag. The car has been to the shop, but their current web site does not clearly say, in plain language, that the air bag has been replaced. The language is not written so that an average prudent person can understand. I would like, in straight forward and unambiguous language, to know what the status is with the car.Read more

I pulled out of the gym after using my key FOB to unlock and start vehicle. Got a warning asking if Key was in the car, it was, and warning went away. A 1/4 mile later, while the car was in drive and idle at a red light, the car completely shut/locked down and alarm started blaring saying there was no key. The key was in the car (it had just unlocked and started the car less than 4 minutes earl
... ier). The car defaults to ON of an auto/on function (gas saving feature?), and I believe that becuase the car was waiting at the light, prompted the computer to misfire functions. I was stuck in traffic and could not get the car to start for over 3 lights length of time. I also found I had no control of the hazard lights. I was able to eventually get it to turn on, alarm persisted. I then drove it home with alarm still blaring and got my spare key, the alarm shut of briefly and then turned back on. I then drove it to Audi servicing while alarm blaring. They assessed the vehicle over the past 10 days and simply told me it was due to the key FOB battery dying. Meaning: they are telling me that this is normal and will continue to happen every time my battery dies. This is very dangerous. I don't know how/if they actually confirmed the battery was dead or simply changed it out. The key FOB battery dying should NOT cause a car, while in drive, to completely shut/lock down. This is a huge safety issue. Someone could have not seen me and rear ended me. Or if I was in traffic on the freeway and my FOB battery dies, then I would really be in trouble. I have other Audis and a FOB key dying has never caused a lock down. Once the car is in motion, the ability of the key fob to affect the ignition or engine should be zero. I believe this issue needs to be looked into and am not getting good response or action from AUDI. I do not feel safe driving a car that will lock down while in drive, and my concern extends to other people who may find themselves in this situation.Read more

Driving on a two lane busy road, car started to jerk and shut down. Lost steering capability immediately, car veered toward ditch, stopped. After about 15 minutes a person stopped and was able to restart my vehicle (911) never got to me and I cautiously drove home. Called the dealer and had it serviced immediately. Diagnostics performed on it. It required a replacement of the fuel pump and fuel rail sensor. It found fuel pump control module to be shorting out. It seems that this type of issue should not be occurring on the vehicle with such low mileage.Read more

I had scheduled with the dealership to have the PODS recall fix completed. The dealer called and cancelled my appointment as there are no parts available and they do not know when the recall parts will become available
... again. Then in early August things got worse than described in the recall campaign. Now I get the same Audi pre sense error on the dash when starting the vehicle and the airbag is disabled. The front passenger airbag has been disabled since early August and is never enabled if there is a passenger or not. I called dealer and was still told that they do not know when parts will be available. Called Audi and was told the same information as in the recall to read the owner manual and avoid the front passenger seat. There is no way to use the front passenger seat safely as the airbags are disabled and no one can tell me when I may be able to get it fixed. For my family we need to use every seat in the car so there is no way to not have someone in the front passenger seat. Audi offered a warranty extension for intake manifold & fuel injectors in certain 2008-2011 Model Year Audi Vehicles with 2.0 TFSI Engine. The engin

So this warranty extension would not be applicable to your vehicle.” Our Audi dealership diagnosed our car with the same fuel injector issue listed by Audi in this warranty extension as well as stating that this is a very common issue with our make, model and year. Our Audi is a 2011 model, less than 120,000 miles, and less than 10 years when the malfunction indicator lamp appeared. Their letter does not stand to prove that a faulty fuel injector was not placed in our car that was built in 2011, the same year that they installed faulty fuel injectors in their 2.0 TFSI engines. Audi dealership diagnosed our car as suffering from misfire conditions that in turn cause the malfunction indicator lamp to appear. The dealership indicates that this is a common issue with Audis during our production year. This is the same issue that Audi listed in their warranty extension letter to consumers with 2.0 TFSI engines. Our car meets all the requirements in Audi’s warranty extension letter (2011 model, less than 120,000 miles, and less than 10 years when the malfunction indicator lamp appeared) except that our car is a 3.2 FSI vs 2.0 TFSI. Audi is not able show that they did not install a faulty fuel injector into our car. Fuel injector problems in cars with mileage under 100,000 miles and less than 10 years of age is very uncommon. This plus Audi’s history of installing faulty fuel injectors into cars built in our year lead us to believe that Audi also installed a faulty fuel injector into our car.Read more

We were first told that this was a complete engine failure that would need a new engine. We were told cylinder 3 lost pressure and was unresponsive. Then we were told it was just one faulty spring that needed to be replaced, and the vehicle was supposedly fine to run. Simultaneously, and in one-on-one conversations, we were privately told by our Service Adviser Flor Fuentes that she had no confidence that the underlying engine issue was actually fixed, and that she felt the service center got lucky in identifying one temporary patch to the problem that got the engine running again, and that she herself would not feel comfortable getting in this car pregnant or putting a newborn child into this car. We then retained a senior independent Audi service technician to make an assessment of Audi’s repair work, and they found several corners were cut in the process of allegedly fixing the vehicle, not least that Audi did not follow its own test driving protocols before trying to hand it back to us. The independent technician also advised that he could not assure our safety based on the path the dealership took in the alleged repair and the corners cut. We also have a recorded conversation with the head of Audi Service at Audi Central Houston where he acknowledges they didn't follow their own safety checks and standards in the process.
