The Gateway control module failed in September 2025 on my 2021 Audi Q5. Vehicle error messages included the following failures: Cruise control, Parking brake, transmission, brakes, and steering, windows rolled down, seats moved, dash and MMI black followed by a sudden loss of power, narrowly avoiding an accident (kids in car). Would not restart. Diagnosis by Audi dealer was that the Gateway contr
... ol module got wet and needed to be replaced. This is Recall 90S9 from 2021 that was “repaired” in March 2022 by covering the module with a plastic bag. This proved an insufficient repair backed up by a class action lawsuit filed in January 2022 titled Gioffe, et al. v. Volkswagen Group of America, Inc., et al. (Case No. 1:22-cv-00193). I reached out to Audi USA to request a Goodwill repair which was my only available recourse given that the recall had been completed and closed. After 5 days the Regional Manager denied my request even after I emphasized the safety risk associated with this catastrophic failure as well as the recall in 2021 and class action suit filed in 2022. I paid $1485.33 to re-repair the recall. Driving home from repair my vehicle alerted me to the following messages: Vehicle starting system: malfunction! So I purchased a vehicle from wright drive in El Paso, Texas. I was driving home back to Alamogordo which is 90 miles away, maybe 80 I realized there was no adaptive cruise control. So I messaged dealership. They told me that there was nothing they could do. It's not a safety issue. I got the vehicle home the next day. I found out the whole front suspension was bad. I kept hearing a noise when I w
... ould drive over bumps and it was really loud. I contacted the dealership, told them that the suspension was bad. They told me to take it to Audi to have them look at it. It came out to like $8,000 worth of repairs. They told me they would not pay that and I could return the vehicle for a full refund. I told them okay. I would be there in 3 days because I was working. They said that was fine. I get there 3 days later they told me that was no longer an option. So I got stuck with the car that needed $8,000 worth of repairs and then another four for more suspension parts. New breaks the 3,000 to fix the adaptive cruise control. I understand the adaptive cruise control is not really a big deal but the fact that they lied about me being able to return the vehicle and now I'm stuck with the vehicle thing that I've paid more fixing a suspension then the car is even worth. I'm a single father with two kids. I cannot afford to keep paying for a car that they should have taken back to begin with because it's illegal to sell a vehicle that has saved the issuesRead more

After Ford Recall 24E13 (Powertrain Control Module reprogramming) was completed on my 2019 Ford Expedition Max, the vehicle immediately developed transmission problems. It began hesitating to go into reverse and then produced DTC P0736 (reverse gear ratio incorrect). Within days, it failed to shift properly and was returned by the dealership. The issue occurred only after the recall repair, indic
... ating a possible calibration or programming fault that affected the powertrain. Ford dealership staff acknowledged metal in the fluid but gave inconsistent explanations and then claimed the transmission had to be replaced. The vehicle also displayed a “Powertrain System Fault” warning. No such problems existed before the recall. This raises a safety concern because transmission malfunction after a recall could cause loss of control or failure to move the vehicle. The vehicle was returned to us on October 7, 2025; it remains unsafe to drive. Ford Corporate has been notified (Case CXH-05773791-T4G0R8), but no resolution has been provided. I am requesting NHTSA review this as a potential post-recall powertrain safety failure related to Recall 24E13.Read more

I purchased a new 2024 Audi Q4 e-tron. The first malfunction occurred in January 2025 when a dashboard warning appeared stating the vehicle was “unable to read traffic or road signs.” The dealer confirmed a front-camera sensor failure and replaced the camera under Repair Order #193312 (1/17/25 – 1/29/25) at approximately 397 miles. In February 2025, the vehicle displayed repeated “drive s
... ystem malfunction” warnings and would not start reliably. The dealer determined the issue was linked to the 12-volt battery and replaced it under RO #194457 (2/24/25 – 3/14/25, 866 miles). Soon after, persistent drive-system and electrical faults continued (RO #195096 and #195241 from 3/17 – 3/27 at 866–1,081 miles) but no repair was completed. On 4/10/25, an “AWD malfunction” occurred, and the vehicle was towed. Under RO #195846 (4/10/25 – 4/25/25, 1,594 miles), the front electric motor/drive unit was replaced. The vehicle remained out of service for extended periods. I was provided an EV loaner during the initial repair in January and gasoline loaner vehicles thereafter. In June 2025 (RO #198283 at 3,161 miles), a factory recall for the onboard charger was performed. The warning “Pedestrians cannot hear motor sound” appeared both before and after the motor replacement, suggesting a persistent fault in the Acoustic Vehicle Alerting System (AVAS). These repeated electrical, sensor, and propulsion failures — all within 3,000 miles of use — raise concerns about the reliability and safety of the ADAS camera, drive unit, and pedestrian-alert system. Power loss and a nonfunctional pedestrian-warning feature could increase risk to the driver and others. The manufacturer has been notified, and both dealer and manufacturer-updated repair records — showing mileage inconsistencies between versions — are available for review upon request.Read more

Short Summary (for “Briefly Describe the Problem”) Sudden catastrophic engine failure — engine threw a rod at ~85,000 miles despite proper maintenance and fluid levels. Detailed Description (for “Provide Details of the Incident”) While driving, the vehicle began making a loud noise similar to a helicopter taking off. I immediately took it to a certified mechanic, who diagnosed that th
... e engine had “thrown a rod,” requiring a full engine replacement. The vehicle has approximately 90,000 miles, has been regularly serviced per manufacturer recommendations, and all fluids were at proper levels at the time of failure. There were no warning lights or prior signs of mechanical issues. My mechanic and I contacted Honda to determine if NHTSA Recall 23V-751 applied to my vehicle; Honda confirmed it did not. Despite this, the symptoms appear consistent with known defects covered by that recall. Honda has declined to provide assistance or repair. The sudden and complete engine failure under normal driving conditions, despite proper maintenance, suggests a potential manufacturing or design defect that poses a serious safety risk.Read more

While driving slowly through a shopping mall parking lot with my wife and [XXX] son onboard, the vehicle suddenly malfunctioned. The central locking system cycled repeatedly, and a warning briefly appeared mentioning a steering/light malfunction. Immediately afterward, the emergency release cables for all four doors deployed externally as if the car had been in a crash, even though no collision o
... ccurred. At the Audi dealership (Audi Sugar Land, TX), technicians confirmed by diagnostic scan that: The ABS control module stored a fault for “invalid data.” That invalid data was relayed to the airbag module, which falsely triggered a “crash response active” condition. All four door modules stored crash response faults and deployed the emergency release cables. The issue was confirmed, faults were cleared, but no parts were replaced. This false crash response put my family at risk because it activated emergency safety mechanisms without cause. My concern is that if invalid data can trigger a false crash event, it could also trigger other systems, such as airbags, leading to potential injury. The incident occurred with approximately 1,100 miles on the vehicle, one week after purchase, and immediately following the first 100% charge. The dealer documented the event and consulted Audi Technical Assistance, who authorized release of the vehicle after clearing the codes. This is a serious safety defect because critical systems activated without a real crash, creating unnecessary risk for occupants. The vehicle is available for inspection upon request. Their acknowledgement indicates that this may be evidence of faulty manufacturing of the spring which would appear to warrant NHTSA review and assessment. The vehicle had a recall of a high-pressure fuel pump. I was driving on the freeway when the vehicle suddenly stopped. I had the vehicle towed to the closes dealership. I was told that at the time the manufacture did not have the parts to replace the fuel pump and the debris passed through the system damaging filter and the catalytic converter. I was told by the dealership mechanic that there we
... re metal shavings through-out the system. They partially repaired it and once I went to register my vehicle at the DMV they wanted proof of the recall repair. I took the vehicle back but the dealership does not wish to repair the consequential damage the recall caused. I still do not have my vehicle or proof the vehicle is in a safe working condition. Dealership and Manufacture refuse to repair the vehicle.Read more

Ford Edge 2012 Limited 2.0L [XXX] The brake pedal went all the way to the floor while my wife was driving a few times. The brakes DID NOT STOP OR SLOW THE CAR AT ALL! She pumped the brake pedal and braking came back. But, after that we could not trust the brake system. We paid AutoNation Ford in Fort Worth, Texas $2,694.45 on 10/11/2023 to replace the ABS system, after their recommendation that
... this will fix the problem. This did fix the problem until recently this past week on 9/21/2025, when the brake pedal went to the floor without any braking, just continued to move forward in our driveway. The next push on the brake pedal did provide braking but now seems a little soft. My wife’s sister also has a Ford Edge with similar or the same symptoms, a 2013 Edge. My daughter has a 2012 Ford Fusion with similar or the same symptoms. This is a very dangerous SAFETY PROBLEM with these Ford cars! I suspect that this problem is more widespread than just my family, more Ford Edge vehicles with this ABS problem. A Ford Edge ABS RECALL might be required to help Ford customers be safe!
