MMI system stops working all of a sudden. This has happened multiple times and especially when it takes updates on its own. When called customer service they referred to the dealer stating they cannot do anything. Right after my call with them the car starts functioning back to normal. When I took it to the dealer for service and the problem, Dealer mentioned Audi has received complaints about the
... new models being affected and is aware of the problem but there is no software patch released yet. Its dangerous to drive as all functions are are turned off including cameras, Bluetooth, collision warning, blind spot, lane departure, music and more (except the engine running). Another issue is with its auto engine stop function, is when you are at a red light with a complete stop and when the light turns green and you are ready to move, the car takes a second or two to get the engine started and pulls back a little. Also the transmission pulls rough at that time of start. Am not sure why this is happening. The car pulls back even when the auto engine stop function is turned off.Read more

No warning lights before or after the issue. Had to be towed to dealer. Dealer confirmed turbo system failed.

While waiting at a signal, i got at message that my maps could not continue because I had no power, then the park assist came on with no explanation. After that, I got the message to put the car in park to prevent it rolling away. I tried to restart, but it would not. As the signal changed and traffic had to move around me, I put on the emergency lights and continued to try to start the car. It to

I experienced the engine stall/turbo failure as described in NHTSA Action Number PE21009. I have all of the supporting documents regarding this turbo failure. Volkswagen auto group had previously issued a voluntary TSB regarding this known design shortcoming in the turbo system of the 4.0T engine. The oil screens that filter the turbo cooling were engineered with a mesh that was too fine. This mes
... h eventually clogged and severed oil flow to the turbo units, causing failure. There is discussion of this design shortcoming in every single Audi online group, so much so, that when new members join the owners Facebook group, they are nearly all immediately warned to change their oil screens. The concept that I was without a vehicle for months as well as having to pay for this repair out of pocket still shocks me - I had several heated calls with the Audi warranty headquarters and an incident at the dealership that required retraining of the service staff. Needless to say, this turbo failure on my vehicle was an absolute nightmare. I’d be more than happy to share all of my documents and story with the NHTSB. Thank you.Read more

The lane assist in my car will pull me out of the lane I am driving in and into an adjacent turn lane when a turn lane opens up. It happens most often when I am on a two-lane road, with a double yellow line on my left and then when a long space without markings followed by dotted lines for the turn lane opens up, the car abandons using the double yellow line as the guide and pulls the car into the
... turn lane. This happens most often when a lane opens to the right but can happen on the left side as well. According to the dealership, car must be traveling at least 40 MPH for the lane assist to activate. I can observe on the heads-up display when the car changes its sensor focus to pull the steering and car into the turn lane. I believe this is a very unsafe feature, as it could lead to crashes, overcorrection, etc. Because I am aware of this issue, I am able to correct the course of the car, but the software should not be pulling the car out of the intended driving lane into an adjacent lane. (It can also make the driver look as though driving drunk, because it swerves in and out of lanes, which can put the driver at risk in another way, because of the state of police interactions these days. The car is available for inspection if needed. I have reported the issue to the dealership and AUDI USA on multiple occasions. One person at AUDI USA said the car should not be operating that way; that person is no longer with the company. The people at the dealership have looked into it and say that it is operating as expected, even though I have sent multiple videos showing the car pulling out of the lane and what the lane assist is doing and the sounds the car is making. They have not been able to reproduce it (because they also have not driven the car on similar types of roads with similar markings). Those same people say they hate the feature because it doesn’t work well and so they turn it off in their own Audis. The heads-up display alerts that the issue is happening.Read more

Turbos failed. Was traveling home on a highway, when i pulled off the engine suddenly stalls out and loss of steering occurs as the engine system automatically puts you in park. Car will stall out at any point in time when
... RPM is 1200 or less (you have about .25s to get it back out of that range or it stalls again). Power is sluggish. To avoid stalls, shifts must be rapid and neutral-shift+gas needs to be applied to prevent RPM from being below 1200. Made it home safely, but had it towed to dealership. Dealership notified me that it was a turbo failure, both impellers have become lodged in the side of turbo casing and are stalled out. Nothing preceded this; no engine lights or anything. Effect was sudden and drastic. Temperatures were fine. Attempt to drive to repair shop led to total loss of coolant. It is believed this is a seperate issue.Read more
