... g, i pushed the start button and managed to restart the engine and put it in drive to pull away just before impact. Problem hasn't been reproduced by anyone. Vehicle or components haven't been inspected by anyone. No warning light lamps or other symptoms of the problem prior or during remaining drive home. I don't know if this is related but the car does have a random no start symptom due to a battery discharge condition while parked overnight. This happens very rarely and is not reproducible when the battery is charged. Ford has a TSB ref.17-2192 on this failure that is applicable to my VIN but they will not cover it since my car is out of warranty (Time and 73K miles). The dealer further stated that there is no guarantee that this re-programming of the PCM will fix the problem. The Ford dealer gave me an estimate of $214 for the re-programming of the PCM and it does not include a new battery if it needs it. I have an appointment to get it done on 11/22/24 but I'm reluctant to pay for something that may not fix the parasitic PCM draw on the battery. Any advice would be appreciated. Thank you.Read more

... sudden alerts as half a dozen errors flash/display sequentially on the dash, including warnings as Pre collision assist unavailable, Hill Assist, Service AdvanceTrac, the wrench symbol with See Manual, etc. Then the dash and controls go totally black and the screen displays the Vehicle Network Communication Error and everything (except the engine and wipers apparently) shuts down, No defroster, spedo, tach, heater, turn signals, exterior lights? Basically driving becomes very unsafe and scary, without safety. I have pictures and a video my wife took while riding with me the second time this happened. When I get home and shut off the car, wait awhile, it partially resets itself but still displays the wrench symbol and service Advance Trac idiot lights illuminated. Overnight it seems to reset totally, until the next episode. Its exhibited thie failure when sunny and dry and also when it rains, so seemingly not an environmental cause. This is extremely dangerous since no defroster or lights/signals, gauges, spedometer. So far the engine has kept running so I can at least head home and get off the road. I immediately got off the highway and found a repair place (Red's auto repair) right off the exit. They had me shut off the car. Then they checked the oil, which was showing 70%, and I had just had it changed less than 1000 miles earlier, and it had plenty of oil. They told me I could not drive the car! They said "something is wrong with the engine". Currently, LaFontaine Acura has my car. I have a loaner from them. They said it "spun a bearing" in the engine. Apparently there is a recall for this same problem for my year, make and model, but "currently" my VIN number is not included? And, it is the exact same problem bearing from the recall! THIS IS CRAZY! My car has been well taken care of and I would expect it to get at least 350k miles at least before any issues. If the same problem was recalled for other cars, why not mine? It is un-drivable now. I think that Honda has changed their manufacturing because in 43 years of driving Hondas they always are reliable and work well for years and years. My 5 adult kids drive Hondas as well! Never a problem.
