My driver's side rear sliding door will not open or unlock. The locking mechanism inside the door panel is seized up and will not release the lock, so the door cannot be opened. This is unsafe because I now only have one door that passengers can exit from the back and if something were to happen to the other back door, people could be trapped. I regularly transport my nieces that are [XXX] , [X

I have received documentation that states this is a known issue for my Year, Make, and Model, and there is apparently a class action lawsuit about it, but based on the mileage of my car, I won't qualify to have it fixed. I was just made aware that this is a known issue and the car had 70,000 miles on it when I bought it. - I received a "service hybrid system" light while driving (it only appeared for a split second and went away) and I took it to the dealership for troubleshooting. The dealership found a stored code of B273C-00. They contacted their Jeep engineers who have not been forthcoming as to what the issue is, but said the vehicle is not safe to drive, so I am not allowed to have the vehicle back (the same
... dealership has a 2nd Grand Cherokee 4xe with the same issue). Both vehicles are currently at the dealership and should be available for inspection. From my online research it seems to be tied to the vehicle's crash sensor and high voltage cable harness. There are also numerous other owners in online forums discussing the same issue with their Jeeps (Grand Cherokees and Wranglers). -As Jeep engineers are not allowing myself or others to drive their vehicle with this code, they obviously consider it a safety issue. The scary thing to me is, that had I not happen to see that quick flash of the "service hybrid light" I would be driving this unsafe vehicle without knowing it, as it did not turn on the check engine light, so I had no idea there was a stored code until the dealer checked it out. That means there are probably thousands of folks driving around at risk without even know there is a safety issue. -This issue has apparently been going on for months, as the other Jeep at my dealership has there for months now.Read more

I am reporting repeated safety-critical failures with my 2013 Jeep Grand Cherokee that have rendered the vehicle unreliable, dangerous, and now inoperable. I believe this vehicle suffers from a systemic electrical defect related to the Totally Integrated Power Module (TIPM)—a well-documented issue across Jeep models that causes starting failures, loss of power, and unpredictable behavior of vehi
... cle systems. On [XXX], my vehicle failed to start. The starter clicks but does not engage. These symptoms align with known TIPM-related failures. Despite this, the authorized dealership (Madison Chrysler Dodge Jeep RAM) has refused to test the TIPM, insisting on replacing the starter without confirming the root electrical issue. This places consumers at risk of breakdowns without warning and reflects a pattern of ignoring known defects. My vehicle also has a history of major mechanical failures: Water pump, thermostat, and oil pressure unit replaced (Feb 2024) Rack and pinion, control arm, wheel hub replaced (Jul 2024) Rear brake caliper seized (Aug 2024) Radiator failure (Apr 2025) The vehicle remains with the dealership since 4/30/25. As of 5/14/25, I have received no update or repair. My case with Stellantis (Case [XXX]) has been met with repeated communication failures. I missed one call from the case manager on 5/8 and immediately returned it—leaving three voicemails over two business days and receiving no response. I was promised a callback by 5/13 and still have not heard back. These issues raise serious concerns regarding the safety and reliability of this vehicle. I am requesting the NHTSA investigate potential TIPM-related electrical defects and non-compliance with manufacturer responsibility to address safety defects. I do not believe it is safe for my vehicle to be returned to me in its current state, and I urge your agency to consider further action regarding this recurring and widespread defect. Vehicle: 2019 Hyundai Elantra VIN: [XXX] Mileage at failure:163,799 Issue: Complete premature engine failure due to a piston rod fracture through the engine block Hyundai’s Response: Dealership (Murdock Hyundai Lindon, 530 Lindon Park Drive, Lindon, Utah 84042) reviewed vehicle maintenance history, noted a single vehicle owner, and regular maintenance history, conducted a review of valvetrain a
... ssembly (clean), and diagnosed this engine failure matching previous Elantra catastrophic engine failure cases. Two independent Murdock Hyundai dealership service agents and an independent mechanic reviewed the preliminary findings and believed that my engine failure matched other similar Hyundai recalled engine failures. However, Hyundai Motor America declined to have the dealership perform the necessary tests (i.e. bearing clearing test/cylinder bore test) that would have verified the failure. The dealership also noted previous goodwill assistance for past customers, in similar situations, due to the known manufacturing and safety-related issue. However, in my situation, Hyundai Motor America denied goodwill assistance. This exclusion appears arbitrary and unfair, as the failure in my vehicle aligns with the documented recall defect covered in the Hyundai issued Recall # 21V301000 for 2019 Hyundai Elantras). Furthermore, Hyundai has extended warranties and provided goodwill repairs to other customers with similar failures and similar mileage, yet they refused to provide assistance in my case, citing “time in service and/or mileage of the vehicle.” However, this is not a typical wear-and-tear failure caused by mileage. Additionally, if all Hyundai Elantra consumers were made aware of potential engine issues (at the time of purchase and/or through other means), consumers could address the concern within warranty mileage. I was not afforded the opportunity to address the unknown potential engine issues prior to the engine failure. Noisy brakes, low breaks etc Fast forward to March 2025, my number one complaint about these sensor issues is they would malfunction on me one day when I was driving. And I was always assured by the dealership it was good, the car was good, I was good. Acura felt the same. Well in April my steering malfunctioned while driving, the steering wheel locked as I was breaking for a red light, and I drifted off the road. Turns out my steering rack needed to replaced. It was fixed on 4/4 then on [XXX] with my children in the car, it did the same thing. Now they tell me it is the EPS, electric power steering. First, when the truck is at a stop (red/stop sign), acceleration fails, resulting in a sudden, hard jolt into gear or a complete loss of power. Near rear end collision occurrence avoided several times. Second, while driving 0-30MPH there is a constant hard swift into gear causing a forward/backward jolt of all passengers. Last, and most significant, is the sudden loss of power experienced with hi
... ghway driving. While driving 75-80MPH, sudden deceleration occurs. The gears shift spontaneously from 8/9 down to 1. Speeds are not capable of being manually controlled, by the driver, at that time. What happens next, is either a sudden jolt into gear following deceleration or complete Loss of power. Collision was avoided by pulling off to the side of the road. This sudden deceleration occurs also when attempting to merge into highway traffic. Here again, a rear end collision was narrowly avoided. The truck was serviced to evaluate the cause of this issue, by independent service station technician (vehicle no longer under warrant). They stated that the transmission was the problem and, after consulting with Ford, a computer upgrade was performed. This unfortunately had no impact on the above problem, despite following the recommended "break in" time. Currently the truck is not operable as the transmission is too unpredictable and erratic, rendering it unsafe to drive. This truck currently has only 46,000miles. Ford customer service was notified of this problem who in turn suggested we contact NHSA regarding this complaint. Incidentally, a family member with the same year, make and model truck had the transmission replaced, just this month, because of similar power train operational issues. I encourage the NHSA to evaluate this matter, as POWER TRAIN FAILURE is a known issue with this particular vehicle. Most importantly, this is a concern which poses a significant impact on overall public safety.Read more

The active recall for the trim only includes the front two trim pillars. There are trim pillars down each window on this vehicle, making that a total of 8 pieces of trim for the windows. Now I can’t drive on the highway to doctor’s appointments due to the safety issues of this vehicle. I cannot afford to keep forking thousands into this vehicle nor should I have to. From pieces of the vehicle flying off down the road to air bag lights, etc. Please if you’re able, look into these other trim pieces on the car. Also the front piece of plastic running under the windshield is lifting and not sealed appropriately to the window causing a loose windshield, in addition the rubber going around the inside of the windshield is not sealed causing the rubber to lift and slap around on the vehicle. I have notified Ford of these issues and they directed me here. Thank you for your time.Read more

All lights on dash board on and would not cut off. We were told it was the battery that was bad. The battery in the vehicle was not a year old. We purchased the new battery and within a couple weeks it happened again with all of the lights on. This is a safety matter because this can cause problem with the heads to the motors or can just stop running. We took the car back to the dealer and then th
... ey said it maybe the fuel injectors. Now, we are paying for another maybe. This car is sending off different codes. No, one has inspected this car except the dealer. I was informed that if not inspected by Honda that it would not count. No, other symptoms before all lights on dash board just coming on. When the lights on dash board came on it was all light for all operations of the vehicle. We are not paying for fuel injectors to be replaced based on recommendation from Honda. We have several people we know that are currently having this problem with their CRV. Please look into this expensive repair. My car is a 2018 with only 40,000 miles on it. This is not a car driven on a daily basis to work or anything. This is a safety matter as well due to it may just shut off while driving.Read more

My 2016 GMC Terrain exhibited the excessive oil consumption outlined in both of the following Special Coverage Adjustment bulletins. In addition to the excessive oil consumption, the oil light and oil pressure warnings never gave any indication that there was an issue or that the oil was low. This ended in the engine shaking the whole car, jerking it forward when stopped, and causing the engine to
... seize and need replacing. GMC customer service has refused to acknowledge this issue, stating that until the government tells them to issue a recall, they can't do anything to fix my vehicle. GM acknowledged the issue for model years 2010 - 2013 (+2014 later) and alleged that they made production changes in 2013 that fixed the issue. From the experience with my vehicle and the posts on multiple consumer websites by other GM owners, it is clear that they did NOT fix the issue and that there are hundreds of owners of GMC Terrain and Chevy Equinox vehicles with the 2.4L engines that have had this problem and have lost all the value in their vehicles as a result (or had to pay up to $10,000 for a new engine.)
