Approximately three weeks ago, following a manufacturer-issued software update, the AcuraLink connected services app stopped functioning on my 2024 Acura ZDX. This outage has disabled OnStar-connected safety features including remote monitoring and emergency/roadside assistance connectivity and concerned there were other technology issues that may affect this, but I’m not aware exactly all of th
... em. Additionally, none of the remote features work. This vehicle is an electric vehicle and there is no ability to monitor the status of the battery charge or to monitor the battery. Given the amount of technology in this electric vehicle the fact that the remote functions are not working presents a severe safety problem. I have contacted both OnStar and Acura customer support multiple times; both confirm awareness of the outage issue but have provided no fix or timeline. Both companies have taken no responsibility and their communication is terrible. The outage began around August 3, 2026 and remains unresolved as of August 20.Read more

The forward facing camera or monocular attached to the windshield has malfunctioned and is a wide spread issue across multiple models and years. When this item fails due to high heat which causes the camera (CMOS Image sensor) to degrade, the owner is given a slew of warnings and loses a lot of functionality. The dealership quotes an enormous amount of money to replace/calibrate the camera typical
... ly between $1500-2500 depending on location. Functionality that is lost includes cruise control, adaptive cruise control, lane departure warning, lane keeping assistance and most importantly adaptive braking. There are also numerous dash lights and repetitive warnings that pop up for each bit of functionality that is broken. So while driving the user will see changing text and hear beeps to inform the driver of these deactivated features which is a major distraction and takes away from the drivers concentration on safe driving. Looking online this issue has been reported by drivers of multiple models and years of both Honda and Acura which means it is wide spread and should be classified as a recall. Just some of the models mentioned are Acura MDX, RDX, TLX, Honda Civic, Accord, CR-V, Ridgeline, Odyssey and potentially others. There is no reason that a camera should fail across all these models spanning over a decade at such high numbers outside of an engineering failure that Honda does not want fork out money for to keep their drivers safe. A couple example part numbers would be 36160-TYS-A02-M1 and 36160-TJB-A040-M1.Read more

Acura Service Bulletin B18-014 (NHTSA TSB #10135108) The repeated failure of the driver’s power seat height-adjustment mechanism due to stripped internal gears in the Vertical Transmission Assembly (VTA), as identified in Acura Service Bulletin B18-014, presents a significant safety concern. A failure of the driver’s seat adjustment mechanism can prevent the driver from maintaining a proper a
... nd secure seating position, potentially impairing visibility, access to the pedals and steering wheel, and the ability to safely control the vehicle. Because Honda/Acura has documented this failure and identified a specific repair procedure, I believe the defect warrants investigation by NHTSA and consideration for a safety recall rather than leaving affected owners responsible for repairs. Despite the Acura bulletin and recommended repairs, Marysville Honda in Ohio is recommending a $5700 repair bill inconsistent with the Acura bulletin.Read more

Prior to the 5,000 mile oil change, I experienced at least five transmission shifting issues and reported the problem to Bergstrom Service Department. They test drove it and found no issues at that time and could not repeat the shifting issues while I was there. From what I have observed, the engine will rev up to a high rpm but will not shift automatically. You then have to pull over to the sh
... oulder of the road and decelerate the engine until it will shift gears properly at a slower speed. Not only is there a flaw in the transmission but there is a safety concern when accelerating from a stop sign or merging onto a freeway. I fear getting into an automobile rear end accident from a transmission malfunction. Since the 5,000 mile service, we have experienced one more engine rev shifting issue.Read more

The vehicle intermittently fails to restart after the Auto Idle Stop system shuts the engine off at a traffic stop. When this occurs, the vehicle remains disabled until it is manually restarted. Diagnostics were performed, but no repair or resolution was provided. Despite replacement of two batteries and the starter, the defect continues. Our most recent experience with the dealership was particularly concerning. We were essentially told that they could not identify the problem and could not provide any further solution. That is not an acceptable outcome for a vehicle that can shut itself off while stopped in traffic and then fail to restart.Read more

Hello! I am writing to report an urgent and serious safety failure involving my 2025 Acura MDX A-Spec and to request immediate investigation and action. The vehicle’s driver-assist systems - specifically the lane departure warning and forward collision warning - failed to operate. In addition, both the steering wheel and the accelerator became stuck, causing my vehicle to collide head‑on with
... oncoming traffic. These failures placed my life and the lives of others in immediate danger. I previously opened a case with Acura Contact and Client Relations (Case #16550271). To investigate my vehicle failures that caused this major accident, the response I received was inadequate and deeply concerning. During my conversation with Acura representatives, I was told verbally without any willingness to provide this statement in writing that Acura “has nothing to do with inspecting their own car.” Instead, I was instructed to have my vehicle inspected by my insurance company, despite the fact that they are not certified to evaluate Acura safety systems and do not possess the diagnostic equipment required to assess failures of this nature. Given the severity of the malfunction and the resulting collision, I am requesting that Acura immediately arrange a proper inspection by qualified Acura technicians and provide a written explanation of how such critical safety and control systems could fail simultaneously.Read more

While driving on a residential street under normal daylight conditions, the forward collision warning and automatic emergency braking system failed without warning. A dashboard message appeared instructing me to clean the windshield and stating that collision avoidance services were unavailable. The windshield was clean and unobstructed. There was no precipitation, glare, or debris. The failure o
... ccurred while the vehicle was in motion. I had no indication of whether the vehicle was safe to continue driving or whether I should stop immediately, and no way to know whether the fault was limited to the camera or whether other systems were affected. There was no prior warning, no gradual degradation, and no fault indication before this event. I purchased this vehicle in part for its advanced driver assistance systems and rely on forward collision prevention in daily driving. That protection is now unavailable, and I am driving without a crash avoidance system I was sold and expected to have. I took the vehicle to an authorized dealer for diagnosis. The dealer determined that the forward facing camera module must be replaced and recalibrated, and quoted $2,700. No recall or technical service bulletin was identified. I believe this constitutes a safety defect. A primary crash avoidance system failed spontaneously under normal operating conditions on a vehicle marketed on its safety technology. The repair cost is also high enough that many owners will defer or decline it, leaving vehicles on public roads with disabled collision avoidance. I request that NHTSA investigate the failure rate of this camera module and consider a safety recall.Read more

I am reporting a safety issue with my 2025 Acura MDX involving the Auto Idle Stop/Start system. I have been told that Acura is aware of the issue but has not developed a solution. Despite my repeated complaints, the problem remains unresolved. My vehicle currently has approximately 22,000 miles. I am concerned that the vehicle may fail to restart after Auto Idle Stop activates and leave me stranded in an active traffic lane or intersection, creating a risk of a collision. While operating the vehicle, the transmission suffered an abrupt failure resulting in Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) P0720 (Output Speed Sensor Circuit). Further diagnostic inspection revealed a complete internal failure of the integrated valve body assembly, which houses the Transmission Control Module (TCM), solenoids, and output speed sensors. The failure caused an immediate loss of gear select
... ion, restricting the transmission to 3rd gear ("limp mode"). Attempting to accelerate beyond 3rd gear causes violent vehicle shaking, severe hesitation, and an inability to maintain traffic speeds due to the TCM losing signal input from the speed sensors and solenoid circuits. This total valve body/TCM failure creates a critical safety hazard. Sudden restriction to 3rd gear without warning on highways or during turn movements leaves the vehicle unable to match surrounding traffic speeds, creating an immediate risk of a rear-end or side-impact collision. The vehicle has been strictly maintained according to manufacturer schedules. Because Nissan/Infiniti designed the TCM and speed sensors as an integrated unit inside the hydraulic valve body, a sensor failure requires replacing the entire valve body/TCM unit—a repair quoted at over $3,000, with complete transmission replacement exceeding that cost. This valve body/TCM failure mode is widely documented among Infiniti Q50 owners sharing the RE7R01A 7-speed automatic transmission platform, indicating a widespread electronic and mechanical defect that threatens driver safety.Read more

... a shock. The first control arm failure occurred when the car was only a year and a half old with very little milage. I have all of the service records in my tesla app vehicle repair history. They are in a pdf format and I would be happy to send them in, if helpful.Read more

My 2016 Jeep Cherokee developed severe grinding/scraping noise and vibration associated with the PTU. In 2023, I brought it to Larry H. Miller Jeep 104th for PTU-related Safety Recall 45A and also reported abnormal noise. The noise was not documented and the PTU was not replaced, despite Warranty Extension XJ1 already being in effect. In 2026, after the noise worsened, I returned to an authorized
... Jeep dealer and specifically reported the PTU concern and XJ1. The dealer stated the PTU tested normally and attributed the noise to other issues. I obtained an independent ASE-certified inspection from Wesley Automotive. Wesley documented PTU noise/vibration, a magnetic plug coated in metal, excessive ferrous metal in the PTU fluid, and a faulty PTU requiring replacement. After unrelated wheel-bearing and brake repairs, Wesley documented that the PTU concern remained and provided a photograph showing metal debris on the plug and written diagnostic findings. A subsequent authorized Jeep representative stated XJ1 would not apply without fault code P1720-00 or P215C-00 even if metal were present in the PTU, while acknowledging that the metal condition presented a safety concern. Despite documented PTU failure and metal contamination, it remains unrepaired because Jeep has conditioned XJ1 replacement on specified fault codes rather than physical findings. This follows the 2023 PTU-related recall visit, a later authorized dealer reporting no applicable codes and stating the PTU tested normally, and AutoNation requiring me to authorize a $295 diagnostic fee for yet another evaluation. Stellantis continues to require additional dealer evaluation despite this history and independent physical evidence of PTU deterioration. I am concerned continued operation puts my family and me at risk of PTU failure, sudden power loss, or loss of drivability. The vehicle remains in service with a faulty PTU and metal contamination.Read more

The driver’s seat adjustment mechanism failed and the seat became stuck, unable to move forward or backward. We initially went to a Toyota dealership and told them we believed the issue was a broken gear in the seat rail assembly. The dealership stated they needed to complete their own diagnostic assessment before proceeding, which would cost approximately $275 and add delay, despite already bei
... ng told the likely cause. We instead took the vehicle to an independent mechanic, who confirmed the cause was a broken gear/synchronizing mechanism in the seat rail assembly. The mechanic confirmed that Toyota is the only source for this replacement part — it is not available from third-party or aftermarket suppliers — and has ordered the part directly from Toyota, at a cost of approximately $1,500, to install himself. This creates a safety risk because the driver is unable to adjust the seat position to reach the pedals and steering wheel properly, and cannot reposition the seat in the event of an emergency requiring rapid exit from the vehicle. Seating position also affects airbag deployment safety, since proper occupant positioning relative to the airbag is a factor in crash protection. There were no dashboard warning lights or error messages prior to the failure. The seat simply stopped moving on one side during normal, everyday adjustment. This appears to be a widespread and recurring issue rather than an isolated incident. Numerous other owners of 2019–2024 Toyota RAV4 vehicles have reported the identical failure — a broken gear in the seat rail mechanism — on Toyota owner forums and online community discussions, many describing the same high repair cost tied to the fact that only Toyota sells the necessary part. The vehicle is a 2021 Toyota RAV4 with approximately 56,000 miles at the time of failure. The component is available for inspection upon request.Read more

My 2021 Honda Pilot displayed a U3000 diagnostic trouble code, indicating an internal electronic failure of the front-facing multipurpose camera that operates the vehicle's Honda Sensing safety systems (Collision Mitigation Braking System, Lane Keeping Assist System, Road Departure Mitigation, and Adaptive Cruise Control). As a result, these safety systems became inoperative. I took the vehicle to
... an authorized Honda dealer, who confirmed the U3000 code and quoted approximately $2,000 to replace the camera unit. I have since learned this is a widely reported failure across multiple Honda and Acura models (Pilot, Odyssey, CR-V, Accord, Civic, HR-V, Clarity, RDX, MDX) and is the subject of a proposed class action lawsuit alleging Honda knew of the defect and failed to disclose it or issue a recall. I am filing this report to document the failure and its safety impact.Read more

Dealer completed update 9C2 Theta 2 emissions update. After update, the car sputters slightly and increased noise is heard from the tailpipe. ... g “customer to allow vehicle to properly warm up for one to three minutes prior to driving.” The last line of the service record indicates “no problem found at this time.” A template letter from Hyundai was attached to the repair record. Hyundai may be instructing dealers to not document problems in the service records assumably so they will not be liable for future litigation. It should be noted that owner was previously denied payment on their 2017 Hyundai Tucson due to lack of documentation by the dealer to prove the case with prior class action lawsuit despite years of verbal complaints to the service staff. Dealer may be intentionally not documenting or taking responsibility for systematic failures in the Tucson in service records. This may be on the direction of Hyundai corporate. 2020 Hyundai Tucson continues to sputter periodically during normal driving conditions. Car is parked in an attached garage making a 1 to 3 minute warm-up time-consuming and possibly unsafe. This required warm up should not be considered normal as indicated on the repair record. Hyundai should take responsibility for their shortcomings and allow proper documentation on service records rather than pushing the fault on the owners. As with previous Tucson complaints, the dealer continues to indicate the problems are the result of owner actions not internal failures.Read more

Purchased vehicle in question on 9/11/25 as a lease through the local Jeep dealership near my residence. Sometime around 4/26 to 5/26 my vehicle started to display odd operational patterns which were brought to my local dealerships attention. The first event where I was able to record any type of documentation was around 5/25/26. While driving, the vehicle would suddenly go into "limp mode" and ra
... pidly decrease speed. Several check engine lights would appear to include: Service Electronic Throttle Control, Service Electronic Stability Control, Traction Control and the standard CEL. When this does happen, the vehicle will decrease speed suddenly without warning and becomes difficult to operate until it is pulled over and parked. Vehicle has been to my local dealership several times (4) and out of service for over 70 days with the latest stay 30+ days. According to documentation from the dealership, the listed error/issue has been recreated on their end at least one time but no data was captured with that fail. My local Jeep dealership Service Manager (CF) replied to an email of mine (7/16/26 at 1703) with the following statement: Verified customer concern of check engine light on connect to wytec and found p2173 stored in powertrain control module. Also found c121c stored in ABS module. Believe ABS code is related to PCM code, cleared codes test drove multiple times. Finally able to get customer concern to duplicate but no data was captured on this failure. We are continuing to drive the vehicle while monitoring data to catch freeze frame data while concern occurs but have not been able to do so far at this time. The condition, when it occurs presents a serious safety concern for the driver and other drivers as it will cause a sever throttle limitation and can cause the vehicle to slow down rapidly. As of 8/9/26, no fix confirmed for my vehicle and the dealership and manufacture are pushing to return my vehicle with confirmed fix. Jeep case number 97378351Read more
