Engine fails to start after idle stop, when the idle-stop off button is not engaged, and the battery doesn't have enough power to re-start the vehicle. Essentially, the engine tries to start up at a traffic light/intersection but fails, causing the car to turn off and shift to Neutral without warning. I then have to realize what is happening, shift the car from Neutral to Park, and hit the start
... button to be able to re-start the car. There is no warning from the car that the battery is going to be unable to keep the car running, so the stall is 100% unexpected. This is unsafe, as the re-start procedure is not intuitive, takes time, and causes cars behind you to start honking. It could very easily cause a crash. Either Acura needs to fix this issue with a battery warning, or provide the option of turning the auto-idle stop off button on permanently (which some members of our government wouldn't like, but would fix the problem and keep someone from being seriously injured). While driving onto the on ramp many warning lights came on as my car shifted into Neutral on its own. I couldn’t accelerate, switch it back to drive.or depress the break as it was locked. This was observed to occur on multiple occasions. Two situational examples which have been observed several times: (1) four lane roadway inside city limits; speed: 40mph; I was gently braking to stop behind a vehicle stopped at a traffic light; car applied brakes rapidly nearly causing a rear-end crash as the vehicle behind me did not anticipate the Acura's action. (Judging from the hand signal I received I believe the driver of the vehicle behind me though I was administering a "brake test" -- a common precursor to "road rage.") The vehicle is a 2020 Acura RDX Advance, with 12,600 miles and was purchased new 17 months previously. On March 4, 2022 the MOONROOF EXPLODED. While driving I heard a "pop" from above my head. Fortunately the inner roof cover was closed such that the shattered glass did not enter the cabin - had the inner roof been open driver and passengers would have been endangered due to the broken glass.

After waiting for over a week the dealer finally contacted me stating the moonroof would not be covered under warranty. I submitted claim to my insurance and the roof has been repaired. The moonroof explosion happened suddenly and unexpectedly, no object hit the roof.Read more

On March 20, 2022, I was on the freeway going 65 miles per hour in the fast lane and my transmission warning light came on and the car went in to Neutral and lost all power on the gas pedal and the car would not move. I could not put it in Park or it would roll backwards so I put on my hazard lights and kept my foot on the brake. I was almost rear ended several times as it was 9:30pm and no lights

I was able to get the Calif. Highway Patrol to get me a tow company that could tow my car after I called 911. AAA which I have said it would be 90 minutes. I would have been killed before that. The tow truck driver had to tow my car to the Hopkins Acura dealership in Fairfield, CA where I had just had it serviced the Thursday and Friday before on March 17 and 18 for the car's 100,000 maintenance work. The Hopkins Acura said they test drove it after the maintenance work which cost me $3500.00 but my speedometer showed they only put 1.5 miles on my car so they did not test drive it far. The dealership said they do not touch the transmission during the big maintenance but this car was driving fine and for this transmission to just stop and freeze is so dangerous. The dealership says they will fix the transmission as they spoke to two different companies they work with but they want me to pay $600.00 of the repair which I do not think is fair.Read more

On several occasions when auto start/stop is engaged the vehicle will shift into neutral on its own upon restart. The component that failed is the left and right PAWS steering actuators. My car has 66,000 miles. At 25,000 miles, these parts were replaced by the dealer. Now at 66,000 miles, the parts are again failing. The car is unsafe to drive because the failure of these parts cause the rear wheels to "fishtail." Was driving on the interstate with slight rain and trying to accelerate but then the check engine light started flashing and the car would not accelerate. Speed on the interstate is 70mph, but the car immediately dropped down to 35mph. Traffic behind me had to slow down to avoid an accident as I had to move the car to the side of the road. Restarted the car and the check engine light disappeared.
