The vehicle had to be placed into park, turned off and back on, to get the engine to function and the vehicle to drive again. During this time (at least 1-2 minutes) the vehicle was stalled in the middle of an active highway, representing a significant safety risk. The vehicle was then sent to Honda for a diagnostic and there were no diagnostic codes given and the service center could not replicate the event. Was told this was not related to the active fuel pump recall on this vehicle so "there was nothing they could do" Had to pay out of pocket for the diagnostic. No resolution on this safety issue. This has been ongoing for some time while driving and has required ongoing fuel adjustments. I have received tune-up services, coolant services, fuel services, wheel balancing, and several alignments, which have recently caused significant inconvenience. I waited 2 & half hour, and Hyundai told me the recall service completed but not done. It was perfectly lying. My 2018 Ram 2500 has Service Electronic Breaking System and Service Antilock break System, along with the traction control light coming on and off intermittently and will stay on for days the cut off and back on and off. The part was on national backorder with no ETA and have been asking for updates for what seems like over a year and the same answer; under investigation and still on back order.... my family and I are on a nerve racking (due to dinging and flashing lights on the dash) road trip from GA to NE. I almost forgot to mention we are unable to use the cruise control functions due to the ABS/HCU/Traction control issues.. There was a recall on this truck in 2019 that calls for a replacement of the molded lead frame which describes everything I just mentioned to you above BUT, this recall excluded covering rental vehicles (due to their inventory of parts) and low and behold I've just found out that my truck had been a rental vehicle in its past and during this period of the recall. I've notified the lienholder and Ford Motor Company of my issues and have gotten no help as to how I feel they are responsible for this fix and I think that either they should be made to repair any vehicle ,rental or not, either way its a very bad situation which risks peoples lives. And if by some chance this truck did get the repair that was recalled back then , then I believe those parts are faulty as well and Ford needs to do another recall on this truck before an accident happens and someone gets badly injured or killed by it.Read more

Good morning, I'm writing with a vehicle safety risk that my wife and I experienced on Sunday while driving home in our 2023 Kia Sportage Hybrid SUV that we purchased new in August 2022. I tried turning it on again to see if the behavior repeated itself, and again it automatically set itself to 110mph and began acceleration. I tried turning the cruise speed setting to a lower mph, but the set speed would not adjust off 110mph. At that point, I turned it off, and we made it home without any problems. However, upon getting home, I immediately started to search online to see if other people are experiencing this problem. A number of users on Reddit with either Kia's or Hyundai's (same parent company) have dealt with the same exact issue. When this occurs, the Nissan will come to a complete stop, then a warning chime will sound and the vehicle will immediately start moving quickly forward. Since the ICC
... brings the vehicle to a stop very close to the followed vehicle, if the driver is thinking the ICC will hold the vehicle in a stationary position, it is possible that this behavior could result in the Nissan rear-ending the followed vehicle. This is the result of a flaw in the design of the Nissan Intelligent Cruise Control that releases the brake with little warning when the traffic in front of the vehicle is stopped. A proper design would hold the brake until some manual driver action is taken such as physically pressing the accelerator or the brake. My personal experience was that I was on an Interstate freeway in very slow traffic. This was the first time I had the ICC enabled in slow and go traffic. It was working fine and, when the traffic came to a complete stop, it properly stopped behind the vehicle in front of me. Then, to my shock, my Nissan beeped and started to accelerate forward nearly rear-ending the vehicle in front of me. Luckily, I was able to press the brake in time to avoid a collision, but this is a flawed design and represents an unnecessary danger to the Nissan as well as followed vehicles.Read more

I was pulling my 2011 Toyota Siena into a parking space. My foot was on the brake and the car was going about 5 mph. The car made a slight sound, along with a perceptible yet small physical shift, and (while my foot was on the brake) independently accelerated with tremendous force. It was like it was ignited. The brakes failed as the car jumped into independent acceleration. My safety and the safety of my passenger were both at risk. As I said, in a different situation, we might have hit pedestrians, or gone through the wall of the grocery store and hit customers. The concrete pole saved us and others. The mechanic at the service center where the car was towed said it was impossible to discern if there had been a failure in the system of the car - though clearly both my passenger and myself experienced that failure in the car's ability to override an independent, forceful acceleration not caused by the driver. There was no warning of any kind. On the Edmunds site, there are many, many testimonials by other drivers of the Toyota Siena of similar, frightening experiences of independent acceleration. It is terribly dangerous and should be investigated. If there is not a recall on this vehicle, there should be. This is a potentially catastrophic defect.Read more

The systems in question are the ABS and Traction Control Systems on my 2018 Ram 2500 6.7L 4x4 Heavy Duty. This vehicle has had issues from the beginning with these systems as the first repair took place at 10,640 miles at the dealership it was purchased from. This took care of the codes/lights for a short period and was covered under warranty but the same issue persisted not too long after mileage
... -wise. The next time this issue occurred was when the truck had 22,628 miles, the brake fluid was flushed in an attempt to correct the ABS light but was unsuccessful. The truck was then brought to another repair shop to correct the same issue again where the ABS Hydraulic Module, ABS Control Module, and the brake fluid were replaced at 23,702 miles at the sole cost of the owner. As of early July 2024, at 45,000 miles the lights have again started intermittently coming on stating there is an issue with both the ABS and Traction Control Systems and must be serviced. After reading through multiple forums and speaking to other owners, this seems to be a common occurrence and needs to be looked into by the NHTSA due to major safety concerns. Although there were no accidents or police reports in this case, this malfunction poses a major safety hazard for the driver, passengers, and others on the road if a recall is not issued. There should be no reason a $60,000+ heavy duty premium truck consistently has these issues with no accountability and/or repercussions held to the FCA group. My personal concern is for my family as this is our primary vehicle and living where we commonly have inclement weather, if the ABS and Traction Control Systems fail randomly during a storm, this has a high potential to cause major injury or death to both our family and other drivers on the road. The only likely explanation I have is that I inadvertently pressed the Driving Assist button with my right thumb or hand while turning the steering wheel, which would have activated Smart Cruise Control, and, if the necessary conditions were met, set the minimum speed to 30 km/hr. The car manual states: "If your vehicle speed is between 0 - 20 mph (0 - 30 km/h) when you press the Driving Assist ( ) button, the Smart Cruise Control speed will be set to 20 mph (30km/h)." The Foward Collision-Avoidance Assist was set to Active Assist, which should have applied the brake to stop from colliding with the wall, but instead the car accelerated. (Note, the parking assist feature does not usually recognize head-in parking.) The car has two Driving Assist settings: Based on Drive Mode and Based on Driving Style. If the latter is selected, three additional features are set on sliding scales: Distance (close to far), Acceleration (slow to fast), Response Speed (slow to quick). These three settings are adjusted automatically based on the car's interpretation of the driver's driving style, or they can be manually overriden. I have never changed these settings. Post-incident I checked the setting and it was set to Based on Driving Style with Acceleration=Fast. Concerns: Is Driving Assist to easy to inadvertently activate? Should Driving Assist not activate at very slow speeds and not auto-set to 30k/h? Why did Forward Collision-Avoidance not activate? Drive Assist should not default to Based on Driving Style.Read more

... the locked up lane assist on. I had to take my hands off the wheel, dry them, and then grab the wheel over and over until I found a dry enough spot for it to detect my hands. I figured out the fault, and why different people have different experiences. It's based on how moist your skin is and how sweaty your hands are. It took a couple trials to figure it out. I think it also uses back-force on the wheel to some extent, but mostly it's the capacitative sensor. I also tested if it would detect at different pressure levels when your hands are sweaty but that doesn't seem to matter. In addition turning the wheel ALSO doesn't help so you can be fighting for control of it when the system refuses to de-activate and is steering you into a bad place due to a left exit or something with traffic bearing down on you from 3 sides. This is extremely dangerous and using a system that fails IF YOUR HANDS AREN'T EXACTLY THE RIGHT LEVEL OF DRY/WET is absolutely something that needs to be recalled and replaced.Read more

They responded and said they performed a remote diagnosis on the Autopilot System in the vehicle and its affiliated hardware and all checks came back in good standing with no faults. They went on to state "just as a reminder as Autopilot/Traffic aware cruise control is under Beta, per owners manual, many factors can impact the performance of Autopilot/Traffic aware cruise control components. Autopilot/Traffic aware cruise control may occasionally cause vehicle to brake when not required or when you are not expecting it." They referred me to the owners manual where these warnings/limitations were reiterated. I replied and asked what Tesla was doing to improve this situation. I did not get a response. I am very concerned about this sudden braking/deceleration as it may result in a rear end collision if someone is following closely when it occurs. I believe Tesla should be more transparent about what they are doing to resolve the issue. They should also provide an option to turn off the Traffic Aware cruise control until the issue is resolved.Read more

When accelerating from a complete stop, there will occasionally be significant hesitation in the car actually accelerating. For example, I was at a stop sign then attempted to make a left turn when there was a break in the oncoming traffic. My car would not accelerate, almost as if it shut off. After this happened a few times, and after reading about it in social media groups, I brought the issue to the attention of the dealership. At the time of service, they were able to replicate the issue and performed a software update (T-SB-0017-24). That seemed to help but only for a few days, then the issue happened again - twice in the same afternoon. I took the car back, only to be told the issue could now not be replicated and that there was no additional fix. It happened again this morning. It is only a matter of time before I get broadsided because my car doesn't move through a turn or the intersection because it just rolls until the acceleration kicks in. I'm concerned about getting rear ended when the car doesn't move at the appropriate speed when either the light changes or from a stop at a stop sign.
