The vehicle then hit the curb and was propelled 4-5 feet in the air. The vehicle then hit a hill and drove on top of the hill in a parking lot. The driver depressed the brake pedal and the vehicle stopped. The air bags deployed. The hazard lights were illuminated. The contact's wife sustained a back injury and could not exit the vehicle. The contact stated that his wife was extracted from the vehicle by the ambulance and was transported to the hospital, where the contact's wife underwent surgery for broken vertebrae. A police report was filed. The vehicle was towed and totaled by the insurance company. The dealer and the manufacturer were not notified of the failure. ... hey put 1 last engine in it. The 1st thing I did was drove down From Michigan to North Carolina to visit my daughter. Plenty of Mountains and a lot of driving as I drove 14 hours straight by myself. The engine that they had just put in started Chugging and choking and it stalled on the highway going through the mountains and I was hit in the rear end and the other driver never stopped. I managed to get it running again. Prior to leaving for North Carolina I ordered what they call a tuner where I could deactivate the AFM system and stay in 8 Cyl mode at all times. I had it sent to her house. I installed the program. Keeping in mind #1 I was rear ended. And every single time there was an issue it was Cyl#7 on all the previous engines. I talked to the Lead man at Royal chevrolet about all the issues and he said they know all about it and its a joke. They tried it on Cadillacs back in 1975 and recalled every one of them and turned it off. On my way back home not 1 single issue in fact and I sill have it displayed on my dashboard I actually got 26.2 Miles per gallon in V-8 mode in the mountains. I have driven to NC every year since before I even owned that truck and have never seen milage before or since. The AFM system is nothing but a ploy to get people to buy junk. Could someone been killed? Most certainly. I told the manager 1 more engine and I have a Friend cut stickers of lemons out and put at the main 4 corners in our town. I also check the pedal positions and when the brake is pressed, it is about level with the accelerator, so I doubt that I was pressing both pedals at the same time. I don't have an extra floor mat and the mat I have is an OEM mat that is secured down. Brought the car to a Honda Service Center and they could not reproduce the problem. The active distance assist inoperative appears when using the cruise control. This comes on when no traffic in front of the vehicle for 1 hour or less. Audi continues to drag their feet on repairs and still has not reimbursed us for electrical expenses from the fire damage over 6 weeks later. I was on the recall list and got my OSS sensor reprogrammed at a Ford dealership in August of 2024. November 6, 2024 I was driving down the FRWY at 65 miles an hour. There was a jolt and RPMS dropped to zero, speedometer dropped to zero yet truck was still traveling at a high rate of speed. My info area just gave blank dashes. ... d eventually a wrench flashed across the screen. My gas pedal was not responding, and I could not accelerate when I pressed the gas. Luckily I was able to coast off of the FRWY with emerg. flashers on without accident. I had to stop at a red light on service road and after stopping truck did not accelerate at light. I turned off the engine and restarted and was able to slowly accelerate at slow speed to make it home. The next morning I took the truck straight to the dealership (maxing at about 20mph- gas just wasn't accelerating like normal) and was told it needed replacement of the transmission electrical frame. I told them about the recall that I recently had reprogramed (august to November 6). The dealership claimed that the recall update and the transmission electrical frame failure was unrelated. They claimed that the transmission electrical frames commonly went out on these trucks and were a known problem but it hasn't been enough to produce a recall. I had to pay about 2k to get my truck fixed. The dealership said if there ever was a recall then I would be reimbursed for the part. What happened to me on that freeway of not being able to accelerate at all was very dangerous as I could not accelerate at all. It was not safe for me to continue on the freeway (or any road really) as my vehicle basically stalled out on me while driving and would not go at all until restarted. I'm very grateful that I was able to get out of that situation safely.Read more
