When driving along using the cruise control, the vehicle will suddenly act as it is avoiding a collision. The collision warning will show on the dashboard and the car will suddenly slow down to a stop or near stop until I disengage the cruise control and hit the gas pedal. I have reported this same issue twice before. When on cruise control, the car brakes unexpectedly. My 2nd and most recent report was on [XXX]: "... I had already disabled "Apply Brakes when Regenerative Braking is Limited" under Dynamics on the screen. (see photo) He showed on the screen, under Autopilot, that I could disable Automatic Emergency Braking, which I did. I was concerned that this
... warning pops up: "The vehicle will not automatically apply the brakes even when a collision is detected" (see photo) but he suggested I try it to see if it would solve the cruise-control braking. I was hopeful, and disabled it, knowing that it might take a while to know if that solved the problem. I drove the 30 miles home on the frontage road instead of the interstate, and when there were no other cars around, I set cruise control at 50 mph, the speed limit. I came to a series of small hills in the road, and was reminded of the first time the automatic braking happened, on a 60 mph road with longer amplitude hills of greater height. Amazingly, it happened again! Pretty significant braking and slowed me to 25. This time I waited it out to see if it would resume the cruise control at 50. It did not. I have since restored the Automatic Emergency Braking as that seems important for a crash situation. I have restored the "Apply Brakes When Regenerative Braking is Limited" since that obviously was not the problem either." I did not use cruise control again until [XXX], when I happened to be returning home from Silver City to Las Cruces and was on the same highway, [XXX], where the problem first occurred. It is a 2-lane road and often there is no traffic, so I felt safe trying cruise control again. I set it at 55, the speed limit, and after only a few miles the car braked again. I do not use cruise control anymore, and was dismayed to find that Tesla is again offering a free trial of autodrive! This is a huge safety issue! In 2019 Ford removed the Low gear option from the shifter dial. Customers were forced to manually shift using paddle shifters to access engine braking in steep grade situations. Current Ford TCM programming for 2019 and newer vehicles skips from first to third gear at 4mph, 900-1000 rpm, providing no engine braking ability in speeds below 25 mph when using paddle shifters. My vehicle manual states
... “SelectShift does not automatically upshift, even if the engine is approaching the RPM limit, unless the accelerator pedal is at full travel.” Despite contradictions to how the Ford owners manual says my car should operate, the dealership says it’s working as intended. I believe this violates NHTSA standard Section S3.1.2 of that states that “[in] vehicles having more than one forward transmission gear ratio, one forward drive position shall provide a greater degree of engine braking than the highest speed transmission ratio at vehicle speeds below 25 miles per hour." Third gear does not provide more engine braking ability than Drive in speeds below 25mph. This is a safety issue which could lead to potential brake failure in long, steep grade situations and provides no engine braking ability.Read more

Prior to this, there were audible and visual alarms about the open liftgate after each stop. These alarms are described in the manual, which instructs the driver to close the liftgate when the alarms sound. However, driving with a liftgate open is a common use for an small SUV when hauling large or long objects, and contravenes no laws when done properly and safely. The manual does not state, so I did not anticipate, that the vehicle would enter a "limp mode" if I continued to ignore the alarms. Being unexpectedly unable to accelerate is a dangerous behavior, especially if you are in the position to make a left turn across traffic and the car goes into limp mode with cars oncoming. I consider this a safety concern because 1) driving with the liftgate open is not an inherently unsafe activity that warrants disabling the vehicle, and 2) the manual fails to state that the driver might experience sudden loss of ability to accelerate with the liftgate open.Read more

I thought it was the fuel injector or bad gas at first and had the fuel injector cleaned. I was never told that Nissan is known for this problem. Once I took back to dealer at 101K miles, that's when I was told it needed replaced. Conveniently after the warranty expired. This was bought for Nissan Dealer as a "certified used car" but it is a very dangerous car to drive period.Read more

I have a 2024 hybrid Maverick with 17,000 miles on. The The 12 volt battery is a known issue in the vehicle that Ford has failed to address. ... p on the dashboard. I turn the vehicle off and try to restart a few times to no avail. I had somewhere that I had to be so I started to drive. The accelerator pedal did not register at all from zero to all the way down to the floor. The truck was accelerating on its own to about 35 mph. The brakes worked the steering worked the accelerator pedal did not register at all. I parked the vehicle to try it again three or four times each time same. Then I parked for sometime maybe an hour. I tried it and it seemed to drive just fine but with a check engine light. The vehicle through all sorts of low voltage codes. This is unacceptable and should never happen to a vehicle when jump stared. I have never seen a vehicle operate the accelerator without input from the driver and I could literally put the pedal to the floor multiple times and it did not rev up or speed up at all just continue to accelerate on its own accord to about 35 mph. Going down hills the brakes work but as soon as I let off the brakes it would accelerate again. I am very busy and I have not had time to go to the dealership with the issue. I don't have time for them to take my truck for multiple days just to tell me what I already know the 12 volt battery is no good. Now I am stuck with a need to replace a battery on a vehicle that is less than 1-year-old and less than 20,000 miles just unacceptable. They could give me another battery but from what I have read the battery fails time and time again. I also have issues trusting the vehicle now if I do have to jumpstart it.Read more
