As I was coasting into a parking space perpendicular to a curb, sidewalk, and store fronts, about a foot from the curb, the engine ROARED and rapidly accelerated. I removed my foot from the pedal and crashed into a pole supporting the canopy over the sidewalk. The impact was so great that the airbags deployed and the car bounced back onto the parking lot. ... ile this happened and I definitely saw "Electrical Malfunction". The only way I could think to turn the engine off was to force the door open. My cat was in her hard sided carrier on the front passenger seat and the impact and air bags broke the carrier and she was ejected. Clearly the Pre-Sense Front collision warning/avoidance system did not function properly during this unintended acceleration. I am convinced that had there not been a sturdy pole directly in front of the parking space, the car would have continued to accelerate and crashed into the storefront of the restaurant directly ahead - and MANY people could have been injured or worse. The "Electrical Malfunction" light had illuminated several months earlier when starting up after being parked for a short time but when I drove the few miles home and turned it off, then on again, it did not illuminate so I forgot to report this to the dealership. This car had been returned to the dealer several times during the two years I have owned it for several recalls, an unresolved air conditioner warning light, and a "known" problem with the brakes getting locked up after getting wet.Read more

Car went lurching forward fast – zoomed up over parking curb – 5 in – side-swiped the side of a tree with right front bumper – gashed with parts flying all over the grass. Crashing noises from jumping the curb and hitting the tree. I braked hard and got vehicle to stop = approx. 3 feet from another tree – which I would have hit straight on. No airbags were deployed. It all happened at high acceleration in an instant. After I recovered from the shock, I assessed the situation. The dashboard showed a malfunction – right front tire – no air pressure. Contacted my insurance company – GEICO – and opened a claim. GEICO arranged for my vehicle to be towed by ASAP Towing to my home. Took photos of the wreckage – collected all the pieces I could in a bucket – some were too large to fit into my car = air dam or some sort of under side cover – made of gray bendable plastic. Called ASAP - the towing company – asked about a flat bed as my front right tire was flat and the front bumper of the car had fallen off. My Leaf needs to be repaired. Aside from possibly sending me crashing through my house I live next to a school and children and families are walking across the crosswalks all the time. If it were to happen when someone was in front of me I'm scared of what would happen, or even just parking at the grocery store I could easily slam into the car in the next spot. There were no warning /safety lights or any error lights on the dashboard before or when this happened. Not sure what caused it so I checked multiple boxes of what I think it could possibly be. Mazda has a recall out but I checked my vin and so far it's not registering a recall. We had Highway Patrol, Sheriff, Fire and EMTs all come to the scene. The EMTs and Highway Patrolman said he was alert and responding to them. He was not injured, so he did not go to the hospital to be checked out. He was not given a citation by the Highway Patrolman. Our insurance agent said, after looking at the photos I sent him, that the truck will probably be totaled, but as yet, we’ve not heard for sure. The only thing that makes sense to us is that the accelerator must have stuck wide open as he started pulling in to the carport. We have serviced it regularly at our local Honda dealer since we purchased the vehicle. We see that there is an active recall for the exact issue we experienced NHTSA RECALL NUMBER:23V-858, however, our VIN number was not included in that for some reason. ... ansmission from Ford called the 6R80 in year models 10-19 however recalls were only ever issues for the 10-14 generation for repairs of less than 10 years of age or 150,000 miles. My truck is the generation after, a 2017 model with 146,000 miles. Truck is currently at Ford for repairs and diagnostics. In the most recent event with the truck shifting from 6th gear to 1st yesterday I was in heavy traffic and when I lost control of truck I had to "sweep" to the side of road / ditch to avoid collision with vehicles behind and beside me at speeds of 65-75. I believe the year models 15-19 should be included on the existing recall if equiped with the 6 speed automatic transmission being the fact they were built and manufactured with the same failing parts before the current recall was put in place a few months ago according to online sources. Fortunately I was safe in all 3 incidents but yesterdays close call has forced my hand in "parking" the truck until Ford can repair any malfunctioning parts. If a recall is placed after my trucks repair it would be nice to have compensation for this bill. Truck has had scheduled maintenance including transmission on or before owners manual recommendations at designated Ford dealers other than oil and brake changes which I do myself at home. Please consider the 6R80 transmission as a point of recall for all models not just earlier generations as most of these trucks may not have the mileage yet needed to have serious mechanical failure. Hyundai documented the problem is with WAZE and there's "DELAY" in the signal from the satellite to the WAZE App, even though I've stated my other vehicles speedometers and the vehicle speed reported by WAZE match. Hyundai documented this anomaly is what gives the vehicle it's "UNIQUENESS." Yet they won't resolve this issue. There are several functions in the car that are dependent on the the vehicle's speedometer being correct and when the speedometer is incorrect, these other functions don't work properly either. I've taken the car onto freeways where there are measured mile postings. Sometimes when the speedometer indicates it's at 60 MPH it takes 60 seconds to traverse the mile. Other times, when the speedometer indicates its at 60 MPH it takes 63 seconds to travel the measured mile. it's not just my car, there are many other customers around the United States that are experiencing this problem and I/we can't seem to get Hyundai to address, fix this problem. My personal opinion is this; Hyundai knew about this problem before they put the car out to the market for sale. So Hyundai knowingly sold a defective vehicle, before they sold the first one of these vehicles. Because the MIL ultimately went off after my fourth drive, I thought I was in the clear--as the Chrysler manual says this light can come on if you've had a recent servicing because the on-board diagnostics may just be recalibrating. I had my car serviced 9 days previous to the incident. The manual says if the light doesn't go off on its own, then bring it in. It went off on its own, so I thought I was in the clear. The vehicle was towed to G & C Auto Body(3440 Stanley Blvd, Pleasanton, CA 94566) to be repaired. The dealer was notified of the failure and advised the contact to tow the vehicle to their location after the body repair because they would need to read the EDR to determine the cause of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired by G & C Auto Body and was deemed a total loss by the insurance company. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. I have the Ford F1 50 2017 model, 10 speed transmission. I about it new. In early December 2024 well on a road trip went down shifting the transmission started jerking, feeling like it was having trouble finding the correct gear. ... margin. This safety factor was definitely impaired. The speed was not properly controlled and the whole vehicle was jerking strongly. Luckily there were no oncoming vehicles but if there were this could have led to a head-on collision. Hesitancy to properly accelerate is extremely dangerous. Doing some research, I see that this problem was recognized by Ford in 2018 and memos to service departments were put out. I also saw that there is a 6 State class action lawsuit regarding exactly the same issue that has been issued against Ford Motor Company since approximately 2018. The lawsuit shows there have been numerous memos regarding this problem known about the Ford 10 speed transmission and not just in Ford F1 50s. I tried contacting Ford Motor Company and they said "your VIN number was not included in any recalls so you can only complain to the NHTSA". This is a known and dangerous problem that Ford motor company should issue a recall for and be responsible for repairing since it has been known since 2018 while all warrantees were still in force. My warranty is no longer in force, but Ford knew about this during the time of my warranty. I called the dealership at the time that it first occurred and they said that they had been fixing multiple transmission problems and they did get a warning memo at the time that it occurred. However I do not see any warnings on my Ford app. I also saw that in 2002 there was another class action suit against a different Ford transmission problem that was eventually settled in approximately 2008.Read more

When pulling out of a parking lot, the accelerator disables leaving the car unable to move in the middle of the rode for a few seconds. The happens intermittently and usually when there is traffic going both ways in the area. This has happened several times but has not been replicated with a dealership employee during test drive.
