[XXX]: check engine light was on and codes P2196 and P2198 were present. The dealer suspected it was the purge valve, causing the problem so they replaced it and reset the codes. 10/10/24: I brought the truck in to have it looked at due to the check engine light being on again. I was told the lead frame needed to be replaced but was on backorder. The bill to diagnose this was 196.80 and I was

On [XXX], I had to bring my truck in to be inspected because while I was going about 70 mph it all of a sudden downshifted and jerked me forward like it was going to abruptly stop. The check engine light came on and I had to drive pretty slow to avoid a breakdown on the interstate. Very scary to have this happen in interstate traffic It could have easily caused an accident. At this time, It was brought to my attention that the downshifting could also be related to technical bulletin 1495. Since we couldn’t get a real definitive answer on what was going on and the lead frame was on backorder, I decided to try and have the case connector in the bulletin removed and replaced as well as do a transmission tuneup on 10/23/24. This bill cost me $383.77. All codes were cleared and all appeared to be working correctly. On [XXX], I was driving on the interstate at about 70 mph and my truck seized up again and jerked forward, again scaring me and potentially causing an accident. I drove it very slowly directly to a repair shop. It was there until November 7, 2024 after the lead frame was replaced. That bill cost me $1321.68. I decided to file this complaint after I had seen a news article that this downshifting was being investigated for the same year as my 2015 Ford F150 for a safety issue. The speedometer would drop to 0 and the transmission would stick in whichever gear it was last in. This time is was 5th gear on a highway. I had to pull over and restart it 3 times before it resumed normal driving. I went back to the dealership and they said the electronic update wouldn't have caused the OSS to malfunction and that it was a coincidence that the exact issue I was having was the same as the cause and reason for the recall. I went to an independent Transmission mechanic to have the OSS replaced and it has now been over a month and the problem has not returned. I don't know if the cause of the OSS malfunctioning was a coincidence or if it was related to a faulty electronic update (like if the Ford mechanic didn't disconnect the battery or overloaded an electric charge when he updated the PCM). The warning sign of a wrench did appear each time the OSS would drop to 0. The check engine light went on the first time but not after that.Read more

... d mind and body, I was not distracted, and I have been driving for decades without having done such a thing. 2) I would have had to continue holding my foot to the gas pedal even as I felt myself racing backwards. 3) Having slammed into the wall, I would have had to be unaware that I had caused the accident. That all three conditions were true seems highly unlikely. (Not impossible. Just unlikely.) I can't imagine stepping on the gas when I meant to step on the brake and then not realizing that I was doing so and then not remembering that I had done so. Cars have computers and computers sometimes have bugs. It seems more likely that a computer glitch caused the crash. And, I suspect that, if it has happened to others, they did not report it because they assume they would not be believed. (When I told a friend of mine what had happened, he told me that, on two separate occasions, he applied the brakes on his Hyundai (a different model) only to have the engine rev up and "fight" his braking. He had to press harder on the brakes to stop his vehicle.) Question: does the onboard computer record all of the car's and computer's activities? Today, I saw that there is an NHTSA probe into 2015-17 Ford 150 pick-ups having a similar problem to mine, i.e., spontaneous downshifting. Maybe there is a chip problem in the transmission control module for cars of those years. This is a significant safety issue. While driving on the interstate and coming over an overpass there was unavoidable debris located in the road. Immediately after passing over the debris there was a loud noise followed by jerking and the RPM's revved up almost like the car was in neutral. I let up off of the accelerator and then tried to accelerate again. The car would not go faster than 30mph and will not shift out of 3rd gear.
... I had the car towed to the dealership and the diagnostic codes reflected vehicle speed sensor and there was no physical damage that was visible under the car. I was told that the problem was in the transmission and that it would need to be changed and given an estimate that totaled over $10,000. I was also told by the service advisor that this is a known issue with the Infiniti Q50. After doing researching this a common problem and the consumer is having to pay out of pocket if the warranty has ended. This incident could have ended badly while doing 70mph on the interstate and the car just quits moving. With all of the complaints that I have read over in regards to the transmission issues yet no action has been taken to investigate this problem. It is obliviously a manufacturing issue and the consumer should not have to pay out of pocket for defective transmissions. This luxury car was not a cheap purchase. Very disappointed that with so many cases an investigation has never been done. Infiniti should be held accountable and a recall should be issued for this problem. ... y tapping the gas pedals causes car to suddenly lurch forward in a highly disproportional manner to any light pressure applied to the gas pedal. Car then continues to increase speed from 0 mph at an alarming rate as if cruise control is on. This is extremely unsafe. One can accidentally shift the gear into drive more than once while at 0mph, and cause the car to unexpectedly lunge forward into someone or something. Moreover, the current gear is not clearly displayed at any time in a large enough font. The gear indicator is only displayed in tiny font on a small screen atop the steering column, and the gear indicator can be easily blocked by the spoke of the steering wheel when wheel is turned. At no time is the current gear indicator displayed on the larger head unit. Furthermore, there is no audible chime or indication that gear has been switched like in other cars.
