This has been reproduced for the dealer and confirmed as an issue with this Prologue. The dealer then shrugged and said there were no fixes from Honda yet, so there was nothing they could do. This is a huge safety issue because a sudden deceleration at highway speeds has nearly caused a half dozen accidents in the past 2 weeks alone. ... ion defect. The Hyundai dealership initially thought it was an actuator issue, but has since said that it is a faulty gear assembly. it has a DCT (dual clutch transmission). Vehicle suddenly stops and is erratic when driving. Coming out of a stop risks the vehicle shuddering; going through an intersection or turning cross traffic is extremely dangerous as the vehicle could stop momentarily and cause a collision. On December 15, 2025, driving on a highway in low temperatures, my 2024 Subaru Solterra (VIN: [XXX] ) experienced a progressive loss of power. At 9:20 a.m., I departed NYC for Amenia, NY (91 miles). The range showed ~130 miles (no AC). For the first ~70 miles, the range indicator consistently remained higher than miles-to-destination, confirming sufficient charge to arrive safely. Around mile 70
... , the range buffer diminished rapidly. By 10:52 a.m. (approx. 85 miles in), the vehicle stopped responding normally to the accelerator. Speed became limited to 36–40 mph. The panel displayed: “Traction battery empty, Output power reduced.” However, immediately next to this warning, the dashboard displayed "7 mi" range and 4% battery. Relying on this data—which indicated sufficient range to reach a safe location—I continued. This contradictory information prevented an informed safety decision. Vehicle behavior became unstable. At 11:01 a.m., I pulled to the shoulder and called roadside assistance. After this stop, the vehicle appeared to recover traction, so I attempted to reach destination (6 miles away). However, unreliable power delivery persisted and the vehicle eventually failed completely at 11:25 a.m., leaving me stranded. Towing arrived at 2:00 p.m. This incident involves a critical range estimation failure. The vehicle promised 130 miles but failed after ~85 miles of conservative driving—a ~35% discrepancy. Furthermore, erratic behavior and conflicting data (showing available range while warning "Empty",) misled me into believing the vehicle was safe to operate, leaving me stranded in winter conditions on an active roadway. This car has a feature that will automatically detect the speed limit and sets the cruise control to an amount relative to it. If speed limit detected is 45, for example, it can automatically set the cruise setting to a configurable amount, say +5mph, and when detected, sets the limit to 50mph. Generally that works fine. However, near us is hwy 190 and is marked with road signs as a junction.

The second occurred while entering a left-turn pocket. In both cases, the unexpected acceleration created an immediate risk of collision with surrounding vehicles and required sudden panic braking to avoid an accident. ... h. I was told that because the tire flattened due to the force of impact with the curb, Toyota considered it an accident. Toyota had me complete an "Unintended Acceleration" form so they could investigate the situation. A case number ([XXX]) was assigned. I was also told that I needed to contact Toyota's Brand Engagement Center at (800) 331-4331. Toyota assigned Engineering Analysis Associates (EAA) to perform a thorough inspection and read out the Event Data Recorder (EDR) of my vehicle at Findlay Toyota. Anne Chapman with EAA did the inspection and sent a copy of the report to me on 09/15/25, the day of the inspection. She suggested that I keep the copy because I may need it if I needed to contact an attorney. My insurance company, USAA, sent an adjuster to examine the extent of the damage. Findlay Collision Center completed the repairs on 09/26/25, which cost $3,433.92. The accelerator nor the brakes were addressed. On 10/09/25, Toyota provided a response to the incident: they were not at fault. They claimed operator error. Unintended acceleration and unresponsive brakes have been an issue with Toyota's in the past. At that time, instead of fixing the problem, they told dealerships to educate their buyers on how to take the car out of gear. Approximately one week after picking up my car from the repair shop, the vehicle accelerated on its own again. Fortunately, the brakes worked this time. The contact stated that after starting the vehicle and shifting into reverse(R), while reversing out of a parking space, the accelerator pedal was slightly depressed and the engine revved high, and the contact slightly depressed the accelerator pedal again before the vehicle suddenly unintendedly accelerated and crashed into a stone column before coming to a stop.
