The air bags did not deploy, and the Collision Mitigation system did not engage preventing the collision. Damage to the vehicle consisted of mostly front bumper and grill damage. When I called the local Honda dealership service department asking if I should have them evaluate the car before having body work completed, I was told that the dealership does not accept damaged cars until the body work has been completed. Consequently, I had the car towed to a body shop even though it was technically drivable. I did not feel safe driving the vehicle fearing it would suddenly accelerate again. I reported the incident to the Honda corporate office and a case was opened. I was again told that damage to the car had to be repaired by the body shop before the car would be evaluated by Honda. When the body shop completed the repairs, I had the car towed to the local Honda dealership for evaluation. I specifically requested that the Event Data Recorder be evaluated, but I received conflicting answers when I asked if it had been accessed during the inspection. I was told that the Honda District Representative reviewed the data from the inspection and invoice states, "no defects in materials or factory workmanship were found (NAME of tech) inspected and found no issues, relayed information to Honda and they advised the vehicle is ok to drive at this time". Just got the Model Y and drove from Kansas City to Denver and back to Kansas City. When using the cruise control the car would suddenly break for no apparent reason. The breaking rapidly decreases the speed of the car. This would occur multiple time without any warning or apparent consistency. Talking with other Tesla drivers at charging stations, this seems to be a well-known and common problem.

There have been 3 separate instances in unexpected and sudden braking when using cruise control. All instances occurred when there were no nearby vehicles present. I have asked Volkswagen to buy back this car at my loan pay-off amount since they cannot provide transportation while they fix this issue, and they do not know when the issue will be fixed. ... get into a heavy flow of traffic. I know that I will have to "gun it" to get up to speed. For that reason, I have one foot on the accelerator and one on the brake. When traffic opens to where I think it is safe to proceed, I press the accelerator while my foot is still on the brake. In the situation this morning, I intended to execute a sharp right turn into the closest lane of a road with 2-lanes going in that direction. I pressed the accelerator hard while turning the steering wheel. Instead of turning right, the car shot across both lanes of traffic, wiped out a traffic sign and entered the lanes of oncoming traffic. I had zero control. It was only dumb luck that I avoided traffic in both directions (both of which were travelling at roughly 60 mph). Even though I knew about this risk from my earlier incident, I didn't think about it at the time. I realize that my actions send conflicting signals to the car (go/don't go), but the last thing the car should do is propel itself forward with no control on the part of the driver. I don't know if this is limited to Audi or the A4, but I wanted to make my experience public to possibly avoid a serious or fatal accident by someone else. When I went to put it back into drive, the brake-hold indicator was still on and so I pressed the button to disable it. I drove the vehicle home and parked it. The vehicle did not roll forward. The vehicle took off at a high rate of speed and my arm was sore afterward. Luckily, there was no one in front of me at the time of the incident. The pharmacy technician stated, "That was close!" The next day, I took the vehicle into service at the Toyota dealership in which the vehicle was purchased. I explained to them about the similar incidents reported I had found online and the outcomes. They kept the vehicle all day, only to get the same response as the previous complainant; they did not find anything wrong. The technician stated if any warning lights turn on to bring it in right away. He stated that it would have given you(me) the warning to keep the brake-hold on, otherwise, the e-brake would have engaged. I asked him, so how do you explain how it took off full speed ahead if it was supposed to stop, not accelerate? I am very afraid of how the vehicle accelerated during this incident. I believe it is a safety issue because it reduces the trucks ability to stop quickly, it may cause my truck to swerve in an emergency stop situation, and if this happens while the cruise control is on it turns the cruise control off unexpectedly. This happened to me in a bad rainstorm and caused my truck to swerve into the next lane over. I asked the dealer when they could get to repairing it and thy told me it would be months before they could repair it and it would cost approximately 1,800 dollars. They told me to just keep driving it with the error codes active. This is ridiculous. This part needs to be recalled because it affects thousands of vehicles and it is unsafe. At 48k miles, fuel efficiency began to significantly drop. At next start up, engine would not turn over and EPC light came on. I waited 30 minutes, unlocked the steering wheel and was able to start the vehicle and EPC light turned off. ... sisted intermittently. Then at 57k, while driving long distance, I noticed what seemed like misfiring when accelerating above 65 mph. There were no noises, no warning lights, and fuel efficiency seemed about the same. I continued driving and about 6 hours into my drive, EPC light came on, RPM's shot up to 4,000 and car began violently shaking while losing significant power and dropped down to 30 mph. I was in the left lane when it occurred and had to quickly move over to the right lane. The car then could not exceed 40 mph with the pedal held to the floor. I turned on my hazards while I continued driving an additional 30 miles to the nearest Volkswagen dealership. Because of how heavy the traffic was and the high speeds of the travelers, it put myself and my passengers at risk from not being able to accelerate, along with the other drivers having to either brake hard or quickly change lanes to avoid my car. At the Volkswagen dealership, diagnosis found code p0204 cylinder 4 injector. They confirmed 4th cylinder misfiring and replaced the fuel injector harness. We've had our Atlas since 5/2020. Since then, we've had multiple issues similar to what I have seen reported on VW's upcoming recall. I am not sure how VW intends to identify which VIN's are an issue, but ours should probably be included. Since you're pointed down, it thinks the upcoming road is another vehicle. 3) Using the remote start feature results in both the radio and cruise control not working. 4) Window buttons on driver's side sometimes don't respond or act erratically (ex: pressing up and the window goes down) 5) GPS is inaccurate. We actually had a part replaced in 2020 that fixed the problem, but we've noticed over the past few months it has started to get lost again. 6) All safety systems (lane assist, emergency braking, etc) need to be disabled when driving in the snow. Otherwise, the vehicle goes crazy with random beeps, warning, and occasionally will hit the brakes. Note that these are an aggregate of problems over the course of owning this vehicle. I provided a date, but the issues aren't limited to just that one date. Fortunately we have had no crashes or injuries related to this problem, but my wife had one very close call when driving in the snow and the brakes engaged while she was on the highway.Read more

My car has problems with uncommanded slowdowns while cruise control and/or Autopilot are active. The vehicle will slow down suddenly in any number of predictable and unpredictable situations. Driving on any two lane road with a vehicle following at any time is risky and in my opinion hazardous. Particularly if the vehicle following is even remotely close. If the following vehicle isn’t paying attention and the car decides to brake for whatever reason (and apparently there are LOTS) that’s a collision waiting to happen. I have refused to use my car’s cruise control system since shortly after I got the car due to this issue. I try it every once in a while to see if it’s any better, but it hasn’t made it more than 5 miles before another event. Not only is it a terrible experience for passengers, it’s unpleasant to have to keep my foot above the accelerator pedal to react to the stupid braking the car will do. Some of the predictable things that cause braking can include, not limited to - oncoming vehicles on a 2-lane (especially trucks, and almost everything bigger than an F150), many larger mailboxes, and in some parts of my commute - simply nothing at all. I don’t know what the car sees, but it brakes. Less predictable are the times it will brake for shadows. Can’t use cruise control when there’s trees shadowing the road. It is absurd. At 1:10 pm on Wednesday, November 10, 2021 we were travelling SB on I-5 near Longview, WA. The day was clear and dry. We were in Lane 2 of a 3-lane stretch of interstate. There were no vehicles in either lane right next to us; a semi-truck was in Lane 1 (outside lane) several car lengths in front of us; a passenger car was 1-2 car lengths behind us in the same lane as us (Lane 2). ... s, trees, or any other discernable distractions were present. We were travelling at 70 mph on cruise control. With no warning, the car braked suddenly in an effort to bring the car to a full stop. Fortunately, the driver directly behind us was paying attention and was able to swerve into Lane 3 to avoid rear-ending us. I was able to bring my car into the Tesla location in Lynnwood, WA for service on November 12, 2021 to have the issue checked. While in for service, I did some research on the issue and found blogs dating to 2018 about "phantom braking"; I determined this described our situation. When I collected the car, the service tech said they were unable to replicate the issue and therefore, were not able to establish a problem to correct. I inquired if they knew about a phantom braking issue; they indicated that Telsa had heard of it and was working on a "fix" but there was no known timeline for the "fix". I have not used the cruise control feature in my car since 11/10/21 and will not because of the significant safety concern. Tesla need to be MADE to make this safety issue a priority to correct. If Musk's team can build a rocket and send it to space, they certainly can correct a cruise control issue.Read more

Multiple problems with transmission and electrical. Electrical: 1) While traveling 80mph in the far left lane of the highway, I had to make a hard break when someone changed lanes and moved into my path. When I did that, the car turned off completely. ... car back on using the start button. I could do nothing but try to cross 6 lanes of oncoming traffic to get to the roadside in order to stop, which was extremely dangerous on a busy highway. I was very luck I didn't get slammed from behind and end up in a horrible accident. Once I got to the roadside, I stopped the car and was able to re-start it. Kia mechanics said a diagnostic turned up nothing, and they could not "duplicate" the problem. Of course, they can't guarantee it won't happen again. 2) Another time, I turned off the car after parking, grabbed my key and exited the vehicle. It started loudly beeping at me. It's the sound it make when the key fob is taken from the car while it's on, or you try to lock the car and leave when it's still on. I had to turn the car back on and then back off in order to resolve the issue. Transmission: Transmission was replaced at 19,000 miles because the gears were grinding when I was downshifting and it wasn't shifting from 3rd to 4th well. I'd put my foot on the gas and it just wouldn't go, and then it would finally kick in. I was also having issues with it when parking or coming to a stop. It would get to a point when the car was slowing down and should now coast slowly, and instead, it would come to a sudden stop, then it would jerk forward. When on any kind of an incline, it would stop, roll backward, then catch and roll forward. It seems to suddenly shift into neutral when I'm not in neutral and it should be moving forward.
