I was driving with the Autopilot on, traveling about 65 mph on the freeway when the automatic emergency braking system kicked in for no reason. There was absolutely nothing in front of the car when it aggressively braked, very suddenly. I was very lucky no one was behind me. I have not reported this directly to Tesla, no one has inspected or confirmed this event.

At the dealership, the service team did not admit this was wide spread. Nor did they tell us there is an updated part from Subaru available. They intend to install the OEM part, which concerns us that in another 40-50k we will face the same $2k problem. We are unlucky that we just went over 60k miles, so this will not be covered under Subaru’s 60k drivetrain warranty. The cars battery and brake lights came on while driving and then after about 10 mins my gas pedal stopped working and I almost got in a really bad car accident. If i rev the car over 3000 rpms the lights go out. So while i was cruising i had to shift to natural and rev the car and shift back to drive when i needed to go faster. I brought the car to the mechanic got a new alternator and battery.
... When driving it home after picking it up the same thing happened after about ten mins. When the mechanic got it back he said the alternator was dead it was only putting out 3.5 volts. He figured maybe he got a defective alternator so he replaced it again with another battery. Same thing happened for the 3rd time. He said he couldn't figure it out and recommend me to bring it to the dealership. So I did and just for them to look at your car is 150 walking in the door. I explained everything to them and told them don't tell me it's my alternator and charge me 150 for information I already know. The guy said he wouldn't and a few days later calls me and tells me it's the alternator and it would cost 1000 $ to replace it. I told him again I already changed it out 3 different times with a new battery. He told me in order for them to find the issue they would have to do the alternator first and then move on from there. So I asked him ok what's gonna be the next step after I pay a 1000s dollars for something that's not going to fix the issue. He said he couldn't tell me till they did the first step. So pretty much what I got out of it was they just want to run my pockets and get as much money as the possibly could. I asked him if he could just do what ever you would do after changing the alternator and he told me nope. My car would not accelerate when the gas pedal was pushed. It was in snow mode and we had to switch modes to make it go. My wipers also stopped working when snow and ice collected at the base. We had to remove all of the snow and ice before they would work. It was actively snowing and this was a a real safety issue.

We have a 2019 motorhome on a 2018 Mercedes Sprinter chassis. We are concerned about the wheel speed sensor failing. Three out of 4 sensors have already failed and been replaced on ours and Mercedes will not replace the 4th sensor until it fails. We would like to travel to remote areas of our country but haven't done so because there is no place to get the sensor replaced if it fails. My Service 4WD drive light began going on so I brought it to my mechanic who told me there was a recall associated with this diagnostic code and to bring it to Jeep dealership. I then brought to dealership, was charged $160.00 and told that the recall was not for my particular VIN number and the cost of the repair was $3,00

I fond it hard to believe that this same unit is faulty in the same year, make and model but only in specific cars? Isn't it the same part? I had to save up for the repair as it was costly. I was told that the car was drive-able. I was then driving with my daughter in the car and the car stopped accelerating and warning lights came on. I had to coast into a parking lot and the dashboard flashed to put the car in park. I put it in park and then car still would not accelerate. I called Jeep Customer Service to try and discuss this matter, as I could not afford the repair but need my vehicle for my job. They told me there was nothing they could do and there was no recall on my vehicle. The problem has been repaired by an independant service center on 2/8/23 for $1430.00 I have been a loyal Jeep customer for over 20 years and was very disheartened by this latest issue and how it was handled.Read more

Throttle accelerates on its own when cold. This especially happens when vehicle has not fully warmed up in weather below freezing. I will let off the throttle and vehicle will continue to accelerate for several seconds before seemingly getting unstuck. There is no issue with throttle cable, and throttle body has been cleaned since the onset, which changed nothing.

ABS / HCU System Failed. My safety was directly impacted. I was driving 70MPH on the expressway and had a SUDDEN deceleration, which nearly caused a rear-impact collision. Various warnings and lights on the dash lit up with "Service Electronic Braking System". When the ABS / HCU system has an issue, it deactivates the cruise control, ABS System, traction control, and parking detection system.
... The dealer is able to verify the issue. I have taken the truck to the dealer, who is reporting a part shortage and multi-month backorder for the part. This is a huge safety issue, and could have killed me and my children. While driving on the freeway at 60-70 mph, in 20 degree weather at night, the engine suddenly, and without warning, stopped. A dash error message showed instructions to put the car in park and push the start / run button. The van was still traveling at a high rate of speed while the message stayed up and the van had to be carefully maneuvered through traffic, across multiple lanes to the next exit
... , without the ability to accelerate when needed. Somehow no one was hurt and the vehicle did not get into an accident, but it came to a stop in the middle of the exit ramp, which had a steep uphill grade. The van was unable to be restarted. A Good Samaritan helped push the car to a nearby lot while car was in neutral. It was unable to be started then and two and three days later. The roadside assistance couldn’t be provided until a few days later because the incident occurred at the beginning of the weekend. The vehicle was finally towed to the closest dealership today. The dealership said the software update is available for the recall of potential loss of motive power, which appears to be the issue we experienced. They said it would take 2-3 weeks to look at the vehicle due to their backlog. I called the dealership where we bought it, and they said the same. Also, based on initial research, it seems the software update will only give advance warning when an electrical short is about to cause the engine to stop so the driver can have advanced warning and presumably drive to safety without an accident. Unfortunately, the manufacturer still needs to address the root cause and build a solution to prevent the electrical short from happening in the first place. The situation is troubling and the manufacturer and both dealerships are even stalling in getting us a complimentary loaner vehicle. Also note that we were not instructed to stop driving the vehicle when we found out about the recall prior to the incident. Again the van won’t be fixed for weeks, NHTSA shows no remedy yetRead more

This happened multiple times over a number of days. This error happens randomly, at various speeds, but only after cruise control has been engaged. ... to get it to the Ford dealership and was told it was a defective IWE Check Valve which attempted to put my vehicle into 4 Wheel Drive. As a result, I had to replace the Front IWE and the new & improved IWE Check Valve which was designed to prevent this from happening in the future. For obvious reasons, I became upset that a known issue with defective IWE check valves causes this event to occur. After exploring the internet for this same exact problem, I found this has been going on for more than 5 years. I now have the "corrected" part, but my major concern is that while I did not get into an accident this time, what is to prevent it from happening to someone who may not exhibit the same composure and causes their vehicle to crash into someone else and death or injury is caused and could have been prevented with a relatively cheap replacement part.Read more

As the vehicle accelerates it experiences a loss of power randomly at both low speeds and high speeds (like it randomly shifted into neutral) then after letting off the accelerator the vehicles clunks into gear. I experienced this at roughly 60k miles in both 2WD and less frequently in 4WD. It’s absolutely a safety hazard while driving on the roads.

This alert is about "phantom braking", which is well known to Tesla owners, and the subject of much online discussion among owners who seem to all experience this and are furious that it continues to exist. Here's what happens, very, very often yet: with adaptive cruise control engaged (with or without "autopilot", ie 'autosteer' also engaged), the brakes are applied suddenly without any need for
... braking (no objects in the way of travel, etc). We just completed a trip on I-94 from Billings/Red Lodge, Montana across North Dakota, where phantom braking was experienced probably 50 times, with no other vehicles ahead of us, and on perfectly dry pavement, etc. There had also been very dangerous icy conditions (lots of even "skating rink ice") on the stretch of I-94 in Montana, from Billings into North Dakota. Had the phantom braking occurred on one of the sporadic ice patches further east, it could have easily caused a serious accident, not just been a scary nuisance. In situations with heavy traffic, phantom braking could easily result in rear-end collisions by cars that may be following too close to react before we, the Tesla drivers, override the phantom braking by hitting the accelerator--even that simple maneuver cannot be executed before the car has suddenly decelerated 10-20 mph or more. Some of the phantom braking seems to have been somewhat corrected where we'd first encountered it, on I-394 west of dntn Minneapolis--it doesn't happen as often now as it did a few years ago. There we'd suspected it may have been triggered by the shadows cast on the pavement ahead of us by overhead bridges. But this rash of events across North Dakota this week brought our worst memories and fears back with a vengeance--and with zero theories that could explain it. On a recent online discussion about this issue, there were several pleas for Tesla to give us a "dumb cruise control" option till this gets fixed. My wife and children were extremely frightened by this incident, which was an incredibly dangerous situation as they were driving on a busy highway, and they were lucky that no accidents occurred as a result. I wanted to update you that the Tesla team in Stockton, CA is now handling this issue and they have informed me that the battery fuse blew. However, this incident has left me with grave concerns regarding the safety of my Tesla Model 3 for myself and my children. I believe that the car has become extremely unsafe to drive, and I am very worried that a similar situation could happen again. I must also note that this incident has created a panic within me, that even if and when the issue is resolved, every time I drive my Model 3, I will have a flashback of the incident and the fear that it might happen again. The Service ABS light come on, around 32,390 miles just out of the 3 year/36,000 mile warranty! The cruse control no longer works! The traction control light is on with the ABS light! Beeps on and off and on and on very annoying!!! Had the truck scanned by my local Mechanic. ANTILOCK BRAKES C0020-01 ABS PUMP MOTOR CONTROL-GENERAL ELECTRIC FAILURE-STORED. ANSWER: There is always the potential that any or all of these systems can fail at any moment when I am on the road driving; especially with 18k-20k pounds of load behind me. Galleria Tire Center in Pelham, Al. confirmed the display of all these warnings and also provide me with the code that I posted above on first question. QUESTION: Has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others? ANSWER: NO QUESTION: Were there any warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear? ANSWER: warning lamps come on intermittently and stay of for random times. Always wondering if one of the systems are going to fail. We pull an 18k RV with this truck and it would be tragic if we have a system failure that results in an accident. Online posts also verify that many other RAM owners are experiencing the same problem with their trucks. This most certainly needs to have a recall on it. Very dangerous. Manufacturer has great liability and litigation exposure if they do not act on this and accidents happen. They have been warned.Read more
