I got into an accident around May 3rd. Roughly around 11 pm to 12 am. To inform whomever is reading, none of the issues I will list have happened prior to this event. At the accident my car would not turn on, and it would not lock. As well as a piece of the car had broke off. I took my car to Mike's auto body for repairs. ... Ford Fusion, I was informed part of the issue was the starter. I was informed by Nick a staff member of Mike's auto body, that the piece was replaced. After I had picked up my car on June 6, 2023 as per the receipt from my payment. The first time the event happened was on around June 6th to June 20th (I know it happened on a rainy Tuesday or Wednesday anywhere from 7am to 8am prior to Thursday June 22nd.) My car flashed "See manual" on my dash board. The air bag light had turned on. My car would not accelerate, the brakes functioned at this point, but when I pulled off the road and parked my car shook. When I had turned my car off, took out the keys, and turned it on again the problem was "resolved" and I was able to continue driving to work. I had called the auto shop and eventually left my car with the auto shop to be safe. The next event happened on Thursday June 22nd at 4:10 pm after I had picked it up from the auto shop when Nick had informed me my car was safe and nothing was reading on the scanner. (I took a picture of the dash board to show the message) and turned my car back into the auto shop. To note, the brakes did not work during this time. The next time it happened was the first time I drove my car again after picking it up from Mike's auto shop. July 1st at 12:47 pm. The same stuff happened. I recorded on video what my car was doing. My car decelerate when my foot was still on the gas, the brakes were not working, hot air out of the ac, car shaking. Accelerator petal does not always result in acceleration from a stopped position. This causes the hill assist to hold and does not allow movement forward, resulting in an engine stall. The vehicle has also set the EPC light while traveling resulting in reduced engine power to the point of not enough power to move forward. Turn the ignition off, then on resets the EPC and limb mode.

As I turned into the parking space the car suddenly accelerated, jumped the curb and crashed into the bushes. The brake did not stop the car until it jumped the curb. I then put the car in reverse and it again accelerated and the car spun to the left and then finally stopped. Thank God for the curb and the bushes which prevented the car from surging into traffic on Rea Road. And, thank God no one was in the path of the car when the car accelerated in reverse. That was a miracle at this shopping center since it is very busy. I went into Run For Your Life and told them what happened. The salespeople looked on line to see if there were other similar incidents associated with Toyotas, specifically the Avalon model. They printed out 10 pages of incidents over various years. The experience was horrific and clearly the car is dangerous to drive. I called Rock Hill Toyota and spoke with the service advisor I've dealt with for several years. The car was towed to the dealership. The dealership's attitude is another story - very disappointing. A report was made at the dealership with Toyota Brand Engagement. I do not want this car back. Based on my research I found that Toyota cars have a history with the acceleration issue. In some cases there were serious injuries and fatalities. This issue is not resolved. On a recent trip of approx. 1,000 miles, the vehicle experienced "phantom braking" (aggressive emergency braking for no reason) on three occasions while the adaptive cruise control was engaged on the highway/interstate at approx. 65-75 mph, with no obstruction/vehicle in front and the weather was clear sunny skies.

The vehicle mileage was at 74344. I had oil changed at 71579 miles with full synthetic, and at 66230 miles prior to that. There is no sign of oil leak where I park the car. I regularly change my oil and service my car according to the manufacturer recommendation (just not at the dealership). This problem is not on the recall list for this vehicle, yet there are several instances of this posted in online forums. The car was taken to the dealership where over 30 codes were reported. 2 sensors were replaced (one brake sensor and the traction sensor) and the dealership reported that multiple updates were performed in the 2 weeks that they had the car. Five weeks after getting the car back from the dealership the SAME condition occurred on the highway at 55mph, in a construction zone with no ability to pull off. After reaching an area where it was safe to pull off, a restart of the car (by disconnecting the battery) had all of the lights going off and the brakes functioning normally. The car was driven straight to the dealership where the issues happened again. The car now has 43 codes. They replaced the HCU/ABS module, which did not fix the issue. The car has been in the service department for 3 weeks without discovering the cause of the lights, lack of speedometer and deceleration.Read more

... he service advisor made a comment to another advisor that we have another Expedition with shifting issues. The advisor stated that this seemed to be a common issue with these vehicles, so I researched the issue online myself & found several threads with the same reported issue to include class action lawsuit websites for this issue. I paid Ford’s Service Department to diagnose the vehicle and they found no issues with the transmission and said it was okay and they weren’t able to replicate the issue (this is because it is an intermit. issue). The advisor stated that the transmission has an adaptive learn system and stated that the adaptive learn could be having issues, so I asked them to keep the vehicle and flash the adaptive learn or do a reset. I had them flash the system and it seemed to resolve the issue for a while, but it later returned. I then attempted contacting Ford Customer Service (Corporate) directly and explained the issue to them however they directed right back to the dealership. Recently I went to West Virginia for vacation and was traveling on the interstate. While traveling on the interstate at about 55 mph I was in a situation where I needed to rapidly accelerate due to an 18-wheeler changing lanes into my lane. The vehicle failed to accelerate/shift into a higher gear and being stuck in high RPMs. We were nearly KILLED in this incident and this is what prompted me to contact the NHTSA. I am also a law enforcement officer of over 15 years. It is my professional and personal opinion that this issue is an EXTREME DANGER to the occupants of these vehicles.Read more

I contacted my salesman on October 12th to let him know that the car wasn't driving well. I told him there seemed to be a kind of jerk or stall while I was driving. He told me that "the Cross Sport and all VW's do have an assist feature where if you suddenly press the gas the car will try to react that is were the sudden acceleration will occur." I told him it wasn't a sudden acceleration...it was more like a jerk and hard to explain. This would happen while I was driving. I kept driving and it would still happen, but I just went along with him saying it was the assist feature. On May 23rd, I emailed him to let him know that my car had off twice in a week with a message saying manually start engine. I took it in on June 5th and was told it was the fuel pump and fuel pump sensor. On June 13th I let them know it cut off again. I took it in on July 5th and was told it was the EVAP canister. Now today, July 10th, they are saying they will replace the fuel tank as well and the part should be in Wednesday. I feel as if VW is definitely aware of these safety issues, as there's a VW forum out there and a lot of owners are having the same issues. While driving on the highway at about 60mph my 2016 Outback suddenly accelerated much faster. The only way to avoid collision with another car or cars or end up in a ditch was to drive around them. The brake did not work! After a minute or more(?) I eventually was able to stop using the brake.

After letting it sit for a few days, I tried to drive it again. In my attempt to accelerate, I reached 50 mph, but again the same warning appeared and I was unable to accelerate. It is ridiculous to not be able to trust a car that is less than five years old to drive safely and confidently. I paid too much for this luxury brand from Ford to cause this kind of issue. Accelerating from hard stop causes vehicle to jerk. There is a lag that is dangerous when sitting in traffic. I was sitting in bumper to bumper traffic when I accelerated. The car has no response and then will have a sudden acceleration seconds after pushing the pedal. This only happens when accelerating from a hard stop. I have called 2 local dealers and they confirmed they have seen this issue.

Engine suddenly went into limp mode and jerked steering while on the highway (engine light happened AFTER). We started about 60mph, then vehicle slowed to about 30mph in a few seconds. ... very hot under the hood. Found oil dripping underneath (research says certain Hyundai Santa Fe were recalled for this issue). Oil was low, even though I had it topped off less than a week before. It seems this may be related to large oil use resulting in engine overheat. Mechanic later disclosed to me there was oil buildup underneath and in the engine. Towed into another city to get available mechanic. Found error code P1326. Mechanic took a couple days to determine it was NOT caused by faulty sensor. (attached invoice) Towed to another city where I could have it taken into the lot (there is a long backload of cases at Hyundai). I saw about a dozen of the exact same model as my car in the service lot waiting repair (and many similar models). Told by dealership it would take 2 months to repair and there would be a diagnosis fee. This shouldn't have happened to my car. It was relatively new and low miles for an engine failure. The result was an expensive series of expenses and extremely dangerous series of near-collisions. It has been difficult to contact and navigate Hyundai corporate for help with this. They seem to have a lot of backlogs of these problems related to my model. I get put on hold for long periods. I was assigned case number and case manager who hasn't contacted me yet.
