I took the car into Arapahoe KIA, CO service department on 8 April 2024 for an oil change/tire rotation AND to address the issue with the Snow Mode. The Technician said the issue I describe would happen if the snow was deep.(?) I explained that the roads were nearly bare. He then said that they would look at it. He later said that they could not duplicate the malfunction in the Snow Mode and to bring the car in if it happened again. The KIA service department is the only place that supposedly inspected the car for the issue described above. Of the four incidents, only one would have resulted in a serious high speed collision, had I not taken over very quickly. Having coached robotics competitions, and piloted aircraft with autopilot, it is my opinion that the FSD (SUPERVISED) software is at alpha stage in development (not yet up to beta stage, at which it could be safely released only to select skilled drivers, with suitable disclaimers and warnings) . At delivery, no introduction to the car's controls is provided, so customers are on their own regarding finding out, by trial and error and the occasional potentially lethal collision, how to safely drive the vehicle with FSD engaged. The manufacturer should be required to instruct all customers on the very high level of vigilance required to operate with FSD engaged.Read more

I looked up online and all Kia souls starting from 2012 have a recall regarding the Catalyst converter and because of the issue my vehicle is having a weird rattling or knocking sound on the engine I looked up online and this is what I found Kia Motors America (Kia) is voluntarily recalling 2012–2016 Kia Soul vehicles with 1.6L Gasoline Direct Injection (GDI) engines due to high exhaust gas temperatures that may damage the catalytic converter. This could cause abnormal engine combustion, damage to pistons, and possibly failed piston connecting rod. Recall consequence Piston damage may result in an engine stall, increasing the risk of a crash. A broken connecting rod may puncture the engine block allowing engine oil to escape. The leaking oil may contact the exhaust, increasing the risk of a fire. The spool valve had a complete seal failure leaking oil onto the alternator causing the alternator to fail. As result the entire electrical system failed, shutting off all propulsion of the van. American Honda Motor Co. issued Service Bulletin [XXX] on [XXX] to Honda Dealers/Service about the potential for the spool valve casket to leak and fail so that Honda could check for this failure and replace the defective spool valve. The service bulletin covers five (5) different Models and for some Models six (6) model years. The part number identified is 15810-R70-A04, Front Rocker Arm Oil Control Valve (Spool Valve). The correction action is to inspect the front rocker arm oil control valve for leaks and, if needed replace it. The possible causes are the gasket on the front rocker arm oil control valve has deteriorated or the gasket groove is out of SPECIFICATION. Service personnel at Jeff Wyler Honda, 949 Burlington Pike Florence KY 41042, admitted to replacing this spool valve on my Honda Odyssey model several times a month. They admitted that the failure of the spool valve seal can leak oil on to the alternator causing the alternator to fail causing a complete loss of the electrical system and propulsion, seen reports of complete engine fires due to the spool valve gasket failure, noted that the the service bulletin was not attached to my vehicle VIN as did Honda of Jackson 1408 U.S. Highway 45 ByPass Jackson TN 38305. Because America Honda Motor Co. failed to attached the service bulletin to my VIN, my vehicle was not inspected properly for this safety defect. I was finally able to start the vehicle, but I was only able to move it from the driveway to the street before the power steering went out and the vehicle shut off. I had the vehicle towed to the dealership Monday, April, 8th, they did a diagnostic Tuesday, April 9th. I was told the battery lost 3 cells, so they replaced it and told me I can take it home. After I finished my night workout, I'm driving home, it's now around 12 am Wednesday, April 10th (today) and the same thing happens. Battery light comes on, no acceleration, power steering goes out, all of the indicator lights are on with the Malfunction warning, and finally the vehicle cuts off. ... o turn off the car, lock it, unlock it and then the car responded. It was very scary. The 2nd was last weekend I had my car in the garage plugged in for 7 days and it didn’t get driven. When I returned I got in the car to drive and the battery was at full charge. While I was driving to work the battery was dropping several % a minute. After 20 miles of driving I had 9% of battery and pulled into a charging area unable to get to work. I ended up charging the Fisker and it went back to normal. While driving I never got any notices/alerts/warnings, the battery never adjusted, it just kept falling. It was very stressful, nerve racking and scary thinking this could happen at any time or any moment. I can’t imagine driving my Fisker outside the city area. Also having the same braking issues where it shudders forward. I've had to drastically change lanes because of the brakes not fully engaging. My driver side mirror was making a loud screeching noise while opening and its stopped working altogether. The bluetooth doesnt work for the music or phone as well. When driving down the road at approximately 35-40mph, the accelerator pedal stopped working and a variety of warning messages and lights popped up on the dash. Some of those messages included "gear selected will engage at low speed", "powertrain system fault", and "pre-collision assist not available". Because the vehicle suddenly became undriveable, it rolled to a stop in the middle of the road.
... After coming to a stop, I put it in park (I may have restarted the vehicle, but am not entirely sure) and I was able to get the vehicle off the road, albeit with reduced power. Warning messages and lights (check engine, wrench) remained on the dashboard. We had it towed to a mechanic shop to be inspected since we depend on a car for our job. The mechanic inspected it with a diagnostic code reader as well as looking at the transmission. Just a month and a half later, it happened again and this time it has not come back on for over a month. We took it to the dealership and were charged $200 for them to tell us it was something wrong with the Honda computer system and the whole thing would need replaced and we would be charged $1800. This is on a barely 4-year-old vehicle & we did not have the money to replace a defective system. So we have been driving without a mph display. We put our phones up on the dashboard and try a GPS MPH app, but it is wildly inaccurate, and it is a major safety concern because we have no idea what speed we’re going and we have to guess. This is a car with low mileage and barely 4 years old!! We paid a lot of money for the back up camera, in car calling, and extra features like that specifically for the safety of those features. And now we’re being told that basically they can’t find the problem and we have to pay $1800 for those rather high-priority safety features like knowing how fast you’re going. I also have a newly licensed teenage driver and another who will get her temps in 2 months. I can’t even let them drive our vehicle because they certainly don’t have the experience necessary to drive with no speedometer. We live in a state that doesn’t allow handling a phone in any way. The jeep continued to accelerate and was trying to push the vehicle in front of me. I shoved the gear shift into Park and that stopped the acceleration. I never took my foot off of the brake pedal during the entire incident. The force of the acceleration lifted the front of my vehicle and my bumper went on top of the other vehicle's bumper and dented the rear hatch of the other vehicle. There were no indicator lights before or after the incident. I drove the vehicle to my home approximately a mile from the accident without issues. I later had the vehicle towed to the CDJR dealer for inspection. After 3 weeks in the Service center, they did not find any issues and could not reproduce the problem and the vehicle was released back to me.Read more

I was driving the vehicle on the left lane of the freeway and the acceleration suddenly gave out. The car began to slow even when I pushed on the gas. Heat gage was fine and no lights went on. I quickly got over 4 lanes of traffic to the next exit and was able to pull over to the side of the road. White smoke began to billow out of the hood on the offramp and all the emergency light indicators c
... ame on at once. I turned the car off and the smoke turned black. I popped the hood and flames leapt out from under the hood. I jump out of the car and ran, leaving everything behind. I got safety away from the car and called 911. All of this happened within 2 minutes of losing acceleration. I typically have my two children in car seats in the car for school drop off and, [XXX] , they weren't with me. The fire overtook the front quickly and spread to the main cabin. By the time the fire department arrived (appx. 5-7 min) the car was completely engulfed. Nothing was salvaged. There is a fire report with the fire department. The police were not called. The car had gone through a full inspection and oil change one month prior and had no warning signs or issues. I lost a number of things in the car, including my purse, work items, kid's items, car seats, etc. Just after the incident, I developed a cough and severe headache that lasted two days. I also twisted my knee while running away, exacerbating an old injury. I am also dealing with acute mental health symptoms and am seeing a psychologist. ... open the charger door, start the vehicle, use any of the key fob functions and had to jump the 12V battery, only to die immediately after. There is no pre-warning to this happening, it just shows the alert and the car loses all power. There are also problems with the vehicle after being plugged in to charge and it says "Charging Unsuccessful", or stops charging after a short period of time. It also will not charge to full capacity at home or the charging station. I receive no warning lights or messages about why the charge is not working. It took weeks to get the vehicle into the dealer, making it extremely unsafe to drive and the error has almost caused a major crash. My vehicle has been at the dealer and has not been diagnosed with any issues yet. The dealer has provided me with a rental vehicle...in which now I'm paying for gas. On March 13th, 2024, while pulling into the driveway and lightly accelerating due to the slight incline of the driveway, the accelerator pedal fell from under my foot. When accelerating quickly in drive, the vehicle shifts into neutral, brakes, goes into park and shuts down. Technicians have repeated the issue and attempted to fix it but no solution has been found. The dash displays the message, "Brake System malfunction. Service Required." There are a few dash icons that display indicating a "System Fault," "Brake malfunction," and "ADAS fault."

Latest update changed the cruise control to force inclusion of autopilot. Cruise control function is now unavailable with without this autonomous feature. It's not only distracting, but aggravating. What's worse, is there's no online ability to inform or complain directly to Tesla. This isn't the first safety-related software glitch. Please get them to fix these issues.

This is the most frustrating part. I have a long commute on the interstate at night and really need cruise control, and now I am constantly worried when commuting that the car will slam the brakes. The fact that I can’t revert to an old fashioned cruise control with no sensors and no cameras is absurd and extremely dangerous. What component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request? I don’t believe anything “failed”. I believe Tesla’s software is not ready for the real world and this “traffic aware cruise control” should be a beta feature that drivers can use at their own risk. A couple of weeks after getting some software (or maybe firmware?) recalls done on my Ford Maverick my husband and I were driving down a semi-residential street. Suddenly the car went into limp mode and flashed a bunch of lights on the dash. So the car was limping along, but when my husband took his foot off the brake, the car started accelerating on its own. ... akes but the second he lifted his foot off the brakes the car would start accelerating to about 40 mph. We were only a couple miles from our house, and we were able to get home safely, semi-careening our way there. Luckily there weren't any kids playing in the street (there often are) or any pedestrians crossing somewhere unexpectedly. The next day, my husband took the truck to the Ford dealership and told them about what had happened. He told them about how it went into limp mode and then accelerated by itself. They had the truck for basically the whole work day, and then brought it back. They said they couldn't recreate that failure so they cleared the codes, and told us to bring it in if it happened to them. When we got the documentation from the service it said that all they did was clear the codes. And they did NOT document ANYWHERE that we had reported that it had accelerated on its own. That night we found a Reddit thread that had lots of other people reporting the same failure and no satisfactory explanation was given, and, like us, none of them was certain that the issue had been "fixed." However, instead of coming to a stop, the Tesla started rapidly accelerating, with my foot not even on the pedal. When I slammed the brakes, the car was unresponsive and continued accelerating. I started honking madly to warn people that I had no control over the car I was driving. The vehicle continued accelerating over 100-150 meters in 4-5 seconds and banged a parked car (Lexus SUV) at the end of the parking lot. It continued accelerating while pushing Lexus over the curb, destroying road sign poles and landscaping shrubs; crossing the street, and the middle curb. At the end of the street was a tree and a ditch. Lexus couldn’t move any further and Tesla stopped. All airbags deployed. One of the emergency response detection systems called 911 immediately. The first thing the police asked me was if I pressed the emergency brake. I said the car doesn’t have one. I can’t even turn off the vehicle while it is moving. The parking button takes care of it. I used to love my Tesla but I can’t trust it anymore. What I want from them at this time is: Investigate all the incidents thoroughly instead of blaming these as a user error. a) Think about adding the redundancy system. Something mechanical where the driver reacts within a couple of seconds. Software bugs are hard and sometimes it is impossible to find the root cause. Logs may not contain everything that you need to debug the problem. Consider it as a P0 issue. b) Compensate for the damage and property loss.Read more

Whenever I’m finished driving and turn the car off, it makes it clicking noise in the engine area for about 2 to 5 minutes and it won’t stop and it only happens when you open the front doors or when the car is completely turned the car off. The car behind us aggressively braked and ducked in behind the 18 wheeler just before a rear impact would have occurred. We finally got to safety on the side of the road as the traffic stacked up behind us was able to reduce speed in time. I had my car towed to the KIA dealership in Springfield, MO. One interesting point, the wrecker operator said that unfortunately a big part of his business was hauling KIAs. We almost died. Upon review of social media, I see there are literally thousands of KIAs placing families in danger. Why hasn’t Mr. Budegedge acted on it. After experiencing this, it’s likely there will be deaths. My car had 120,000 miles on the engine. KIA said it was my problem as they met their warranty obligation at 100,000 miles. There are so many incidents, even with 6 cyl engines.
