Car acceleration literally jumping from 30-50mph this is all something that can be felt happening car accelerating when braking is occurring so when slowing the car down it does a speed up then it will begin slowing down then we have the car not wanting to accelerate at all almost like it is stuttering to go this occurs when I get to a red light and it goes green and I press that gas I acts as if
... something isn’t registering fast enough. I’ve took my car to be serviced for these problems nobody seems to find an issue with the problems occurring the problem puts others at risk because we could possibly collide if I where to brake and the car continues to keep going instead of coming to a complete stop. No it hasn’t been inspected by any manufacturer or police or insurance companies no there weren’t any warning lamps or messages going on at this time yes my car is available for inspection because that is what I need a proper inspection to determine the problemRead more

Unsure of the part or system that failed, however the auxiliary battery and power distribution system part was replaced previously and did not correct the problem. My safety was at risk when the speed and steering were affected. An independent service center worked on it and reproduced it. The car electronic system went through every warning light system while driving. "Stop/start not ready", "en

My 2014 Ford F-150 is exhibiting symptoms consistent with the Ford transmission molded lead frame safety recall 24S37. While driving approximately 55 mph late at night on a five-lane roadway, the vehicle suddenly and violently jerked, downshifted and came to a complete stop becoming stalled out as I was approaching a major traffic intersection. The truck was disabled in traffic and would not resta
... rt for approximately 2-3 minutes, leaving me stranded in an active travel lane and at risk of being struck from behind by another vehicle at high speed. The vehicle has displayed transmission-related symptoms including inability to correctly indicate gear position, harsh shifting, unexpected downshifts into 1st gear while driving, transmission fault warnings, and check engine lights. Initially it was mostly dying while idling and we thought it was the common "Fuse 27" issue, being unaware of the recall. Then the condition reproduced multiple times and symptoms worsened dramatically. Ford dealership inspected the vehicle. According to the technician's written report, the truck was found to be "having transmission problems, unable see what gear the truck is in and shifts to 1st gear while driving" and recommended replacement of the molded lead frame. The dealership confirmed transmission-related diagnostic trouble codes were present and documented symptoms consistent with lead frame failure. Despite the recommendation of the lead frame replacement and documenting symptoms consistent with the safety recall, the repair was not approved. The vehicle continues to experience symptoms associated with the recalled defect and is unsafe to drive away. Dealership confirms software update will not correct problem. I am submitting this complaint as the transmission defect poses a significant safety hazard to me, my children, and other drivers due to unexpected downshifts, loss of power, stalling, and the risk of becoming disabled in traffic. The truck remains available to inspectRead more

The ABS control module and Hydraulic Control module are faulty and available for inspection. My safety is at risk because the vehicle will go into a skid upon hard braking (ABS not fuctioning), the vehicle will spin tires upon acceleration (traction control inoperative). The above listed components have been determined faulty by both the dealership and an independent service center. The component
... is on national backorder (according to the dealership) due to how common this issue is. The ABS, traction control, and brake light stay illuminated as well as the dashboard "message center". I'm in disbelief of there not being a recall for something so dangerous. I travel for work and tow my travel trailer and now am unable to do so safely. The fact that the modules are on backorder is a testament to how common this issue is.Read more

We lease a 2026 Palisade with only 4k miles. Several weeks ago I was going through a toll plaza, car would not accelerate after slowing down, as if it was in neutral. All of a sudden it kicked into gear and car lunged forward. 10 min later at a traffic light car failed to accelerate after a complete stop. Press the accelerator sluggish response, then kicked back into gear. Very Scary. I pulled
... over and notified the dealer. Then set an appoint. Dealer did a diagnostic, found no issues, could not replicate problem on test drive . Everything was fine a few weeks. My son took the car. Had the same exact issue with vehicle not accelerating. Then kicked into gear really hard and vibrating. This was scary for him because he was in a parking lot. Luckily there was no accident as a result. However, this time an error code (check engine light) came on and the Hyundai app showed a DTC CODE- P001600 (powertrain / engine). Car was immediately taken to dealer on May 28th 2026. It is now Jun 11th. Still no time frame for fix. The THINK it a software issue and Hyundai is still "working" on a solution.Read more

On 05/30/2026 approximately 12:15. My Jeep radio screen prompted "service needed, no phone connected" and a few other words I did not have an opportunity to memorize. The check engine light came on and he oil light appeared. This all happened within a minute. It was very quick and scared both of us. As my mother was driving, she smelled heat, then the radio quit working, the air conditioning shut
... off and heat turned on without assistance, my mother attempted to open the electronic windows without success, the power steering stopped worked and locked up, then the entire vehicle shut off. She struggled to maintain control of the vehicle in order to guide us to a safe place off the side of the road. We were in imamate danger due to NOT having any control of the vehicle. The hood, driver and passenger doors, front and back were able to be accessed, however we could not open the hatch. And the interior lights would not remain shut off until the battery ceased to have amps. No the vehicle was not inspected by the manufacturer, police or insurance representatives. We were on a major highway. She had NO CONTROL of the vehicle. I bought this vehicle used from Blue Knob and have never received any recall notices however I researched and found 13 recalls I have never been informed of. Engine shuts off without warning while driving. First reported to the dealer on XXX (approximately 12,000 miles) and has continued for 2.5+ years despite repeated repair attempts. Shutoffs typically occur at low speed while decelerating, such as turning into neighborhoods or approaching stops, but have also occurred while coasting at 33 mph on a busy road with cruise control active (August 8, 2025
... ). Frequency has varied from roughly every 1,000 miles to severe clusters: three shutoffs within one hour on [XXX] and again on [XXX], and five in a single day in mid-August 2025. The dealer reproduced the failure with diagnostic equipment connected in August 2024. Most recent events: XXX;XXX (quit while coasting at 20 mph on a busy four-lane road with cruise control engaged);XXX (quit while slowing to turn onto a neighborhood street, 87 degrees F, A/C on high). The vehicle usually restarts immediately, but on [XXX] it would not restart for 5-7 minutes. After restart, cruise control retains its previous set speed, indicating an incomplete power cycle. The dealer (Kia Store East, [XXX]) has attempted repairs since September 2023 under Kia case #XXX, including crank position sensor replacement, MAP sensor replacement (June 2025), and a four-wheel-drive coupler replacement plus software update (October 2025); shutoffs continued after every repair. Historical fault codes include P0068 and B1763. Events have occurred in traffic and at intersections with several near-misses, including one that nearly caused a collision in an intersection on XXX. This is a family vehicle regularly carrying children. Repair orders are available upon request. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)Read more

Highway Incident: While traveling at highway speeds, a sudden evasive braking maneuver caused the truck to drop power. Upon attempting to re-accelerate, the throttle pedal went to the floor with zero response, and the vehicle continued to decelerate on an active highway. Multiple trailing vehicles had to make emergency maneuvers to swerve around the decelerating truck to avoid a high-speed, rear-e
... nd collision. Subsequent Incidents: The vehicle repeatedly forces an uncommanded speed limit of 11 mph while attempting to accelerate from a complete stop or merge from stop signs. This severe lack of predictable acceleration creates an immediate risk of being T-boned or rear-ended by cross-traffic, making the vehicle entirely unsafe to operate in normal traffic conditions. An authorized Ford dealership has confirmed the underlying failure of the hybrid system. They kept the vehicle for approximately one month to replace the entire hybrid drive unit. Following that repair, the vehicle was returned to the dealer a second time, where technicians confirmed a software communication failure between the electric and gas systems, attempting to resolve it by flashing/reprogramming the ECU. The vehicle’s hybrid system and software have been extensively inspected and worked on by manufacturer-certified technicians at an authorized Ford dealership. It has not been inspected by police or insurance, as no physical collision has occurred yet. No warning lamps or messages.Read more

While driving on a California freeway at highway speed, the vehicle unexpectedly decelerated and the seatbelts tightened as though a collision avoidance or emergency safety system had activated. There was no apparent vehicle, obstacle, or roadway hazard present that would explain the event. The incident occurred while family members, including a child passenger, were in the vehicle. The unexpecte
... d deceleration and seatbelt tightening created a significant safety concern because it occurred at freeway speeds without warning. Shortly after the incident, the check engine light illuminated and the vehicle was taken to an authorized Mercedes-Benz dealership for inspection. The dealership documented our complaint that the vehicle slowed on its own and that the seatbelts tightened when no other vehicle was around. The dealership later stated that it was unable to duplicate the concern and reported no fault found. Prior to this event, the vehicle had experienced multiple electronic-related issues, including failure to recognize the key while it was inside the vehicle, repeated "missing key" warnings while driving, and other warning messages requiring dealership diagnosis and software updates. After the freeway incident, the Forward Collision Warning returned, increasing concerns that the vehicle's collision avoidance or driver assistance systems may not be operating correctly. Because of the unexpected freeway deceleration, seatbelt tightening, warning messages, and prior electronic issues, we no longer have confidence in the vehicle's safety and reliability. The cause of the incident remains unknown.Read more

I am submitting this complaint to request an investigation into a serious safety defect involving my Tesla vehicle. On multiple occasions, the vehicle has experienced a significant and unexpected loss of acceleration when I attempted to enter or cross intersections. Despite pressing the accelerator, the vehicle failed to respond as expected, leaving me unable to accelerate normally while entering
... active traffic. This is not a minor hesitation or inconvenience. It is a serious roadway safety hazard. Drivers rely on immediate acceleration when crossing intersections, turning across traffic, or merging. A vehicle that unexpectedly limits acceleration can place occupants directly in the path of oncoming vehicles, creating a substantial risk of a severe collision, serious injury, or death. I reported this issue to Tesla Service and provided multiple timestamps documenting the events. Tesla was unable to identify any fault codes or provide a diagnosis and indicated that because no fault was recorded, the issue could not be confirmed. Through independent research, I found numerous reports from other Tesla owners describing substantially similar acceleration limitation events. Many reports specifically reference Obstacle Aware Acceleration as a possible cause, and some owners report that disabling the feature resolved the issue. If a safety system can falsely detect an obstacle and reduce acceleration while a driver is actively entering an intersection, the system itself may create a greater danger than the one it is designed to prevent. I respectfully request that NHTSA investigate whether Tesla vehicles are experiencing unexpected acceleration limitation or torque reduction during intersection entry and traffic merging situations, evaluate the role of Obstacle Aware Acceleration and related software systems, determine whether a broader pattern exists, and assess whether corrective action or a recall is warranted. This could cause serious injury or fatal crashRead more

SUBJECT: Formal Safety Defect Complaint: 2016 Subaru Outback – Manufacturing Nondisclosure of Latent "Day 1" Design Flaw Causing Ignition Key Entrapment, Uncommanded Steering Column Lockout, and Severe Family Safety Risk I am writing to formally report a severe, unaddressed safety defect and a deceptive corporate practice by Subaru of America, Inc. affecting my 2016 Subaru Outback. This vehicle
... suffers from a "Day 1" latent engineering flaw that causes the physical ignition key to become permanently trapped in the ignition cylinder, triggering an uncommanded, rigid locking of the steering column assembly. Subaru has possessed documented knowledge of this failure for years, cataloging it under Technical Service Bulletin TSB 16-112-18R. Rather than fulfilling its statutory obligation to issue a comprehensive federal safety recall, Subaru deployed a voluntary, time-bound 8-year warranty extension. Subaru conveniently did not notify me of this warranty extension. By doing so, the manufacturer unconscionably ignored this defect, placing its customers at direct peril. They capitalized on asymmetric information to shift both the financial burden and the severe physical safety risks of a known factory flaw onto my family, the moment an arbitrary time threshold expired. My family and I have been at active, continuous risk in this vehicle since the day we purchased it due to an engineering error that was present when the car rolled off the assembly line. The root cause of this failure is a fundamental engineering defect within the Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT) shifter assembly, specifically, the premature degradation of the electrical contacts within the select lever park-range switch.Read more

I own a 2019 Honda Odyssey equipped with Honda Sensing. The vehicle has repeatedly displayed multiple driver-assistance system failure warnings, including “Adaptive Cruise Control Problem,” “Lane Keeping Assist Problem,” “Collision Mitigation Braking System Problem,” “Road Departure Mitigation System Problem,” and “Auto High Beam Problem.” The warnings initially appeared inter
... mittently and then began recurring. In some cases, the warnings appeared at startup and remained active while driving. When the warnings are present, multiple Honda Sensing safety features are disabled simultaneously. To address a possible low-voltage condition, I replaced the vehicle’s battery with a new battery. After replacement and normal driving, the warnings continued to occur. The issue therefore does not appear to be solely related to battery condition. I also observed clouding and dark spotting within the front Honda emblem that covers the forward radar sensor. The discoloration appears to be inside the emblem assembly rather than on the exterior surface. Because the radar sensor is located behind this emblem, I am concerned that deterioration of the emblem or radar assembly may be affecting the operation of critical safety systems. This failure impacts several safety-related functions, including adaptive cruise control, collision mitigation braking, lane keeping assistance, road departure mitigation, and automatic high beams. The loss of multiple advanced driver-assistance systems creates a potential safety risk because the vehicle’s collision avoidance and lane assistance features become unavailable without warning. I am submitting this complaint to document a recurring failure affecting multiple Honda Sensing safety systems on my 2019 Honda Odyssey. There are numerous YouTube and social media posts on the same failure for same vehicle. It seems to be an issue for 2019 yearRead more

What component or system failed or malfunctioned? Seatbelt sensor system and cruise control system. The seatbelt sensor prevents cruise control activation unless the belt is fastened. How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? A driver who cannot wear a seatbelt for a valid medical reason (recognized by state law) is forced to drive without cruise control. Manually maintaining speed
... over long distances increases driver fatigue and distraction, raising the risk of error. The dealer also disabled the factory seatbelt chime without consent, removing an audible safety warning. Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? Yes. Peppers Toyota ([XXX]) confirmed on March 17, 2026 that cruise control will not activate without a fastened seatbelt. They attempted no fix for cruise control. Instead, they disabled the seatbelt chime without my request or consent. I asked them to restore the chime. They refused. Has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others? Yes. Peppers Toyota inspected the vehicle on March 17, 2026. Were there any warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear? Yes. The factory seatbelt chime operated normally until March 17, 2026. On that date, Peppers Toyota intentionally disabled the chime without my consent. The chime no longer functions. The vehicle will not activate cruise control without a fastened seatbelt. If you are uncertain, simply state UNKNOWN and provide your best assessment of the incident and cause in your description. My BMW's Head-Up Display (HUD) and Speed Limit Information system displays incorrect speed limits that do not match posted roadway signs. The HUD frequently shows "LTM" or an incorrect speed such as "25 mph" instead of the actual posted speed limit. This is a serious safety concern. Drivers rely on HUD speed limit information while driving. Inaccurate readings can lead to unsafe driving decisions,
... unintentional speeding, traffic violations, and increased accident risk. The vehicle was taken to an authorized BMW dealership for repair and kept for approximately one week. I was informed on June 4, 2026, and again on June 8, 2026, that the issue had been resolved. After each attempt, the defect remained completely unchanged. The dealership repeatedly misrepresented the repair as complete when it was not. I previously owned a BMW X5 for three years with no HUD or speed limit display issues, confirming this is a defect and not normal system behavior. The vehicle was purchased new in November 2025 and remains under warranty. Despite multiple failed repair attempts, the defect persists and continues to compromise safe vehicle operation. I am reporting a recurring safety hazard involving my 2019 Kia Optima following a repair for diagnostic code P064A (Fuel Pump Control Module). Despite the dealership attempting to repair the fuel system, the vehicle remains in a 'limp mode' state. While driving, the vehicle began shaking violently and lost significant power, refusing to accelerate above 50 mph. This creates an immediate safety ris

The Vehicle Dynamics Control Module (VDM) failed. This caused the vehicle to detect a rollover, which means the vehicle took control of the steering and brakes according to the service manager and would not allow the driver to intervene. This module was replaced. A cause for the module failure could not be found. The module was not allowed to be inspected and was sent to Lincoln corporate. The service tech was not allowed to open the module and identify the reason for failure. The risk for this part failing means that steering and braking are non operational. In my situation this was potentially a lethal accident with myself and family in the car. To slide off the road and hit a parked dump truck surely could have been life ending for myself and others. Vehicle diagnosed for DTC C1112:92 in the VDM The problem was not able to be reproduced. A cause of the problem has not been identified and is not known. The service center sounded concerned that they could not find the reason for failure and could not confirm it wont happen again. The vehicle was only inspected by the service center. There were no prior symptoms or warning lights or messages prior to the module failure.Read more

I am writing to report a severe safety defect regarding my 2018 Jeep Renegade. The vehicle suffers from an extreme internal oil consumption defect, burning 1 quart of oil every 1,000 miles. According to certified automotive diagnostics, this is five times the normal operating rate. This rapid oil depletion causes the vehicle to abruptly lose power, stall, and completely shut down while driving in
... active traffic without warning. Sudden engine failure at highway speeds creates an immediate, critical risk of collisions. The vehicle’s history directly matches documented manufacturer issues. The original purchasing dealership notified me that the vehicle was impacted by Customer Satisfaction Notification W80 for abnormal oil consumption. My research also confirmed related under-hood wiring recalls for this model year that cause fuel pressure drops and engine stalling. However, when I presented the vehicle to an authorized Jeep dealership in Newnan, Georgia, due to repeated stalling, the service department refused recall coverage because my specific VIN was not flagged in their database. They replaced a valve cover gasket instead, but the severe oil depletion and dangerous stalling persisted. A subsequent inspection by an independent licensed automotive shop confirmed the excessive oil burning and determined the engine has suffered fatal internal wear, requiring a complete engine replacement. Because the manufacturer excludes my VIN from the official recall population, they refuse to provide any administrative or financial remedies. However, my vehicle is exhibiting the exact mechanical failures, dangerous stalling, and severe oil consumption targeted by NHTSA’s investigations into the engine. Excluding a vehicle experiencing identical safety failures based solely on an arbitrary VIN window leaves consumers unprotected. This unaddressed defect ultimately rendered the vehicle un-driveable, forcing me to surrender it, causing financial hardship and negative credit impact.Read more

While driving at highway speeds, the vehicle displays a "Drive Train Malfunction" warning message and the traction control warning light illuminates. Shortly after the warning appears, the vehicle loses power and may enter a reduced-power mode or stall, creating a serious safety hazard in traffic. This has occurred while traveling on the highway, forcing sudden deceleration and creating the risk o
... f being struck by other vehicles. The check engine light is illuminated, and diagnostic code P0A1E is present. The problem is intermittent and unpredictable, making it difficult to determine when the next failure will occur. The vehicle has been taken to Ford for diagnosis multiple times, and significant money has been spent attempting to repair the issue. Despite these efforts, the root cause has not been identified and the problem continues to occur. This defect affects the drivetrain system and impacts the safe operation of the vehicle. The sudden loss of power on the highway places the driver, passengers, and surrounding motorists at risk. Based on discussions with other owners, this appears to be a common issue affecting Ford Explorer Police Interceptor Utility vehicles and warrants investigation by NHTSA.Read more

I am submitting this complaint regarding my 2022 Hyundai Tucson equipped with the 2.5L engine. The vehicle has experienced multiple incidents of severe engine misfiring while driving. During these events, the engine begins to shake violently, the entire vehicle vibrates, and engine power is significantly reduced. The vehicle becomes unable to accelerate normally, creating a serious safety hazard,
... especially when driving on highways or in traffic. The malfunction has occurred several times. Diagnostic trouble codes P0302 and P0303 have been recorded, indicating cylinder misfires. In some cases, turning the engine off and restarting it temporarily restores normal operation. On other occasions, adding fuel system cleaner appeared to temporarily improve the condition. However, the problem eventually returns. Because the condition is intermittent, the Hyundai dealership has been unable to reproduce the failure during inspection and therefore has not performed a repair under warranty. Despite multiple visits, the root cause remains unidentified. I am concerned that the sudden loss of power and severe engine vibration could result in an accident if the vehicle is unable to maintain speed or accelerate while traveling at highway speeds. This issue has significantly affected the safe operation of the vehicle. I request that this matter be investigated, as it appears to be a recurring safety-related defect.Read more

While driving on my 2026 Palisade Calligraphy over last 6 months I lost all throttle/ gas response to engine on 12 separate occasions. The 3rd incident nearly resulted in serious crash in 55mph traffic. Went to dealer next day on 11/15 ref# 41788829 service found no codes, reset system and recommended a flight recorder to help diagnose. Filed with NHTSA on 12/3 after next incident ref # 11702738. R
... equested flight recorder multiple times with dealer and Hyundai case manager and after multiple visits, diagnostic drives and component replacement on 1/20 and 2/23 the dead throttle continued. On 4/7 I was finally issued recorder and captured 3 incidents of the problem that could not exist within 2 days. Dealer acknowledged problem and says they can not fix without help from Hyundai engineers. Hyundai will not buy back and tell me to go back to dealer for resolution. Dealer claims to have submitted all relevant info to Hyundai but will not produce requested paperwork to me for most of visits (illegal? ). I have been assigned 3 separate case managers who try to assign new case #42539227 and separate it from initial ref # 41788829 while denying buyback with documentation they refuse to share. I am driving an unsafe and dangerous suv with 3 clearly documented Hyundai flight recorder incidents and acknowledged safety issue.Read more

2 incidents of Sudden Unintended Acceleration. No warning lights etc in either. Car damaged but available for inspection. Now encountering difficulties initating Toyota investigation. 1st incident (4/18/25; mileage 967) occurred after a hard left turn. After turn onto uphill street, I took my foot from accelerator to slow and maintain distance from a car backing down hill ahead. Instead, car se
... lf-accelerated and shot uphill, over speed bump with increasing speed. Did not respond to braking until it was close to hitting a parked car. Stopped with a slam; probably brake assistance engaged. No damage or injury, but I was shaken. Took car immediately to Toyota dealer to inspect. Was told RoB confirmed an event but not its nature or cause; identified nothing wrong. They hypothesized cruise control might have been triggered accidentally (no evidence, not plausible). Claimed they submitted report to Toyota national center. After 2nd incident, Toyota national said they had no record of 1st event. Their standard safety inspection protocols were not followed. Returned car to me without repair or follow up. 2nd incident ensued. 2nd self-acceleration event (2026) also occurred after hard left turn to make U turn at low speed, braking while completing turn. When I took my foot off brake, before I could press it on accelerator, car shot diagonally across street. Jumped curb and traveled at considerable speed 100' up landscaped slope. Destroyed 6 large shrubs and 3 trees 9' tall. Did not stop despite constant driver braking. Forward collision prevention system did not engage to prevent uprooting trees. Car stopped only after I turned steering wheel sharply to left to avoid hitting a full-size tree trunk. Then car responded to braking, acceleration ended, car stopped next to tree without impact. Terrifying life-threatening event but only damaged landscape and car. Police came, assessed incident, determined not a police matter, did not file police report.Read more
