I am having issues with my 2019 RAV 4 rear hatch. The struts/hinges issue is not allowing my rear hatch to open. I feel like one issue caused the other, but warranty will only cover the struts. There is a potential class action lawsuit right now over this issue. Toyota will not do anything about it.

The second-row passenger side seat release button is non-functional. Third-row passengers cannot exit without this button — it is inoperable, and they cannot reach the manual lever due to insufficient space. Third-row passengers are physically trapped and cannot self-evacuate without outside assistance. In an emergency — collision, fire, or submersion — third-row passengers would have no abi
... lity to escape. This defect was first reported December 2, 2024, documented as unable to duplicate, and the vehicle returned without repair. Reported again January 14, 2026. Vehicle has been continuously at an authorized Jeep dealership since January 20, 2026 — 133+ consecutive days unresolved — due to repeated manufacturer parts delays with no confirmed resolution date. Additionally, a recurring key fob and door lock malfunction was reported across four separate visits spanning October 2024 through August 2025. Two open federal safety recalls — 77C (door trim detachment) and 88C (quarter window trim detachment) — show as incomplete in NHTSA's database despite being documented as completed by the dealership on January 20, 2026. Door trim was previously repaired October 29, 2024, suggesting a recurring defect. Defect confirmed by authorized dealership on multiple repair orders. Manufacturer retention team has open escalation case with no resolution. Component available for inspection — vehicle remains at dealership.Read more

The infotainment system on my Outback has become a complete distraction when driving. It calls people from my contacts on its own, it cuts off my navigation in the middle of a drive and it freezes up preventing cancelling of operation. This is the hub of the vehicle and makes using hands free devices next to impossible. I took the vehicle into the Subaru dealership and they confirmed the issue.
... They had me reach out to Subaru of America and they refuse to cover the cost to replace the malfunctioning unit in the vehicle. Upon researching this online, it is caused by delamination of the head unit and has plagued this vehicle. The issue started happening outside of warranty. I feel like this is a well documented problem and Subaru refuses to do a recall on it.Read more

The vehicle is experiencing a persistent and severe manufacturing defect regarding its steering wheel geometry and vehicle alignment. While operating the vehicle under normal driving conditions, the steering wheel alignment is visibly off-center, failing to achieve proper tracking geometry. There is comprehensive photographic and video evidence documenting that the steering wheel and tracking alig
... nment are fundamentally incorrect. To date, this vehicle has been brought to an authorized Volkswagen dealership service department for a total of eleven (11) separate service visits specifically targeting this exact defect. The dealership service department refuses to perform further corrective actions, insisting that the off-center geometry is "normal and within factory specifications" after test-driving two other lot vehicles. The dealership has explicitly stated they will not correct this defect without direct corporate intervention. Safety Risk Assessment: The manufacturer and dealership's failure to remedy the off-center steering wheel geometry and tracking alignment presents an ongoing safety hazard. Operating a vehicle with compromised steering geometry introduces unpredictable handling characteristics, accelerated or uneven tire wear, and an elevated risk of sudden component fatigue. The persistent alignment deviation forces the driver to constantly compensate to maintain a straight line of travel, increasing the risk of driver fatigue and unpredicted lane drifting at highway speeds. A vehicle that cannot maintain proper tracking geometry poses a clear and present danger to its occupants and surrounding traffic. Timeline of Events & Notice to Manufacturer: Both the local franchised dealership management and Volkswagen of America corporate regional management have been formally notified of this recurring defect through 11 documented service attempts. Following initial acknowledgments, the Volkswagen corporate regional representative has ceased all communicationsRead more

The Auto Start/Stop system shuts down the engine and periodically the engine fails to restart. The car needs to be put into Park and then the electronics seem to re-boot before the car will restart the engine. This has now happened many times in city traffic, interstate highways and in areas of questionable safety (high crime zones). The dealer and Acura has refused to repair since they have n
... ot been able to duplicate the issue. They wanted me to lend my new $60,000 car to their service technician to drive back and forth from home/work to see if they can duplicate the issue. The dealer has tested the battery, however it passes. They refuse to do anything with the starter or other components of the system whether it be replace or inspect them. As the car ages (now approx. 1.5 years) it seems to occur increasingly often. I am concerned that the Auto Star/Stop system is doing irreparable damage to the engine & transmission. Additionally, sometimes the engine gets cut off and then tries to re-start and after several churns the engine restarts and the car lurches forward as the car is in gear "drive' when the car re-starts. The catalyst for making the car re-start is to release the brake... and that causes an immediate lurch forward when the engine does re-start. Does not seem to be a good thing for the transmission. The Auto/Start/Stop engine feature can not be permanently disabled.Read more

The forward collision warning system emits a warning sound even when the car is in reverse. I was close enough to the door of my garage so that the forward warning was beeping. Since this always occurs when I back out of my driveway, I ignored the beeping. Unfortunately there was also something behind me and I backed into a low trash can. This could have been much more serious. The fact that the

While operating the vehicle, I began to hear a metallic grinding noise originating from the center of the engine compartment. The sound was clearly audible within the cabin. Approximately one mile before the vehicle ultimately failed, the engine began to malfunction. As I slowed to a stoplight, the vehicle started to shake before shutting off abruptly and entering a coasting state. All electrical
... systems powered down and the vehicle would not restart. Shortly thereafter, heavy smoke began to emit both inside and outside the cabin, visibly coming from the hood and through the air vents. There was also a distinct burning odor. I attempted to restart the vehicle multiple times without success. The dashboard displayed the message: “conditions not suitable to shift.” Due to the vehicle becoming disabled on a curve and posing a safety hazard, I contacted the Sheriff’s Office for assistance to prevent a potential collision. Upon their arrival, it was noted that the engine compartment and hood area were exceptionally hot, particularly where the smoke was originating. The dealership has since confirmed they have also been unable to restart the vehicle. The vehicle has been inspected by the GMC dealer and is currently pending further evaluation by a GM-certified mechanic to determine the root cause. Prior to this incident, there were no warning lights, system messages, or other noticeable symptoms indicating an issue.Read more

2021 Ford F-150 Lariat, 5.0L Coyote V8, purchased new, now 65k miles. Two interrelated safety defects: OIL CONSUMPTION: On 3/21/2026 at 62k miles, I discovered the engine was critically low on oil. Only 3 quarts drained during a full oil change, against a rated 8.8 quart capacity. The engine had been running on one third of required oil. The onboard oil life monitor showed 9% remaining and gave NO
... low-oil warning, no warning lights, no alerts. No external leak. On 5/22/2026, Koons Ford Woodbridge formally confirmed excessive oil consumption after a documented oil consumption test. Ford TSB 19-2365 acknowledges this exact defect on the 5.0L Coyote for 2018-2020 model years, attributing it to high intake manifold vacuum during deceleration fuel shut-off pulling oil into the combustion chamber. The 2021 engine is mechanically identical. TRANSMISSION: Hard and slipping gear shifts reported to Ford within months of purchase in 2021. Ford issued multiple software updates over the years to mitigate the behavior, most recently late 2025. Fix was temporary; hard/slipping shifts returned. CATASTROPHIC FAILURE: While awaiting Ford HQ authorization on repairs, the vehicle suffered complete drivetrain failure on Friday night. Engine lost power and transmission failed entirely. I was near home and coasted safely off the road. Had this occurred at highway speed during my daily commute, the result could have been catastrophic. Vehicle towed to Koons Ford Woodbridge. SAFETY CONCERN: This is my only vehicle, used for daily highway commuting. The oil consumption defect provides no warning before engine damage. The transmission has degraded despite years of Ford software patches. The vehicle has demonstrated total drivetrain failure capability with no driver warning. Ford Corporate case opened: CXH-07446845-G0J0K0. Filing to document this at the federal level and add to the existing pattern of complaints. The panoramic sunroof unexpectedly shattered while the vehicle was parked in my driveway overnight. There was no collision, impact, weather event, vandalism, or any other external cause that could explain the failure. The damaged sunroof remains available for inspection upon request, and security camera footage from my property shows no outside influence that could have caused the glass to break.
... The unexpected failure of the panoramic sunroof created a significant safety risk. Had this occurred while I was driving, shattered glass could have fallen into the vehicle, potentially causing injury to me or my passengers, obstructing visibility, or leading to a loss of control of the vehicle. The fact that the glass failed without warning while the vehicle was stationary raises concerns about the safety and structural integrity of the panoramic sunroof system. The dealership claims that they inspected the vehicle and confirmed that the panoramic sunroof was shattered. However, they did not want to provide me with the inspection report and denied the claim responsibility and have not acknowledged the failure as a manufacturing defect. The vehicle has been inspected by the dealership. No police report was filed because there was no accident, vandalism, or criminal activity involved. At this time, the manufacturer has not independently inspected the vehicle to my knowledge. As I have seen and read online, there has been dozens of similar cases with Mercedes regarding this issue and I believe i have read there is a lawsuit. No warning messages, no recalls, no unusual noises, cracks, chips, leaks, or other symptoms were present prior to the failure.Read more

I am filing a formal safety complaint against Camping World for structural equipment overloading, unauthorized safety component manipulation, and willful public safety endangerment. On May 29, the dealer hitched a 37' long trailer to my half ton truck frame. This combination violates critical highway stability standards. A 37' trailer requires a minimum 178" tow vehicle wheelbase to counteract lat
... eral wind forces and semi-truck displacement. Operating it with a 157" wheelbase leaves a catastrophic 21" layout deficit, causing uncontrollable highway sway. The tailer's loaded tongue weight (1,223 to 1,529 lbs based on a 10,195 lb GVWR) physically overloads the truck's factory stamped 1,22o lb hitch receiver capacity. Immediately upon exiting the lot on Friday night, may 29, the rig experienced violent highway sway. I notified the sales associate that night, but received no safety instructions. For public safety, I returned the hazardous rig to the lot on Saturday morning, May 30. Instead of resolving the safety hazard, dealership personnel refused to let me speak to the general manager and executed two unauthorized alternations to mask the defects: 1. A technician intentionally over inflated my trucks tires to 57 PSI on the asphalt lot between the propane filling area and the store building. On site personnel explicitly admitted this was done to "stiffen the sidewalls because the trailer was rocking". 2. The dealer installed a Curt 10,000 lb weight distribution hitch (1,000 lb max tongue weight), which is completely overloaded by this trailer rating by up to 500 lbs. Staff took the rig behind a closed gate into Service Bay 2 to make undisclosed tension alterations to force the truck to look level, withholding all mechanical disclosure forms or explanations of services rendered. Staff then abandoned my truck in the drop off lot with the keys inside and ignored us for hours. The dealers blind alterations caused even more violent sway causing emergency grounding.Read more

while traveling at highway speed on the interstate in Alabama, the panoramic roof glass on my 2025 Ram 1500 spontaneously shattered and expelled outward from the vehicle. There was no prior impact, road debris strike, or warning of any kind. No injuries occurred, but the sudden loud explosion of glass was an extreme distraction and created a serious safety hazard for myself, child in the back seat
... and other motorists on the interstate. The failure is consistent with a known manufacturing defect in tempered glass — spontaneous shattering caused by internal stress or contaminants such as nickel sulfide inclusions — and is not consistent with road hazard damage. Glass that fails due to external impact typically breaks inward; this glass blew outward under pressure. I took the vehicle to my Ram dealership, who denied my warranty claim by citing a 1-year/12,000-mile limitation for glass. However, the FCA US LLC Basic Limited Warranty documentation lists specific components subject to that limitation — windshield and rear window among them — and does not include panoramic roof glass. The dealer’s denial appears inconsistent with the plain language of the warranty. I am requesting that NHTSA: 1.Open or add this complaint to any existing investigation into panoramic roof glass failures on Ram 1500 or other FCA/Stellantis vehicles; 2.Investigate whether a defect exists that warrants a safety recall; and 3.Record this complaint for use in any future enforcement or recall determination. This incident posed a serious safety risk at highway speeds and I believe other Ram 1500 owners may be at risk of the same failure.Read more

The front subframe and transmission crossmember on my 2015 Ford Transit have experienced severe, premature structural corrosion, resulting in the metal rotting completely through. The subframe is structurally compromised, brittle, and actively cracking.Safety Risk and Imminent Hazard:The subframe is the load-bearing structural skeleton holding the vehicle's engine, steering assembly, transmission,
... and suspension components in place. Because the metal has rusted through, there is an imminent risk of complete structural collapse while driving. If the subframe snaps or detaches under load, it will cause an immediate loss of steering control and engine displacement, likely resulting in a catastrophic high-speed crash.Passenger and Public Danger:This vehicle is not used for commercial purposes; it is a dedicated family vehicle used daily to transport eleven (11) children. A structural failure at highway speeds puts twelve lives inside the vehicle—and dozens more on the road—at immediate risk of fatal injury.Manufacturer Response:Ford Motor Company (Ford Pro Customer Advocacy, Case Manager: Quatavius) was contacted regarding this premature, widespread engineering defect. Ford formally denied any financial or repair assistance, stating no programs exist, completely disregarding the severe safety risk to the 11 children inside this vehicle. This is a systemic manufacturing defect with 2015-2023 Ford Transit subframes that requires an immediate federal safety investigation and mandatory safety recall before a fatal structural failure occurs As of now the symptoms are the rattling noise of the rotting subframe and steering vibration while driving. We even hit another car and paid for repairs already due to fear of steering loss.Read more

Operating a vehicle with unaddressed structural frame damage and substandard prior repairs poses an immediate safe
... ty risk. In the event of a collision, the vehicle’s crumple zones and structural pillars may fail to protect the cabin as originally engineered, severely increasing the risk of catastrophic injury or death to myself and my passengers. Yes. The structural damage and improper prior bodywork were formally identified and documented during an automotive inspection. The vehicle's structural integrity and repair defects have been documented via a professional inspection. Despite these documented findings, the dealership (Carvana) and the warranty administrator (SilverRock) are currently refusing to properly address or resolve the structural safety failures. There were no electronic dashboard warning lamps or messages, as this is a physical, structural safety defect stemming from undisclosed prior damage and inadequate repairs rather than an electronic system failure.Read more

Our '22 Audi Q5 experienced a spontaneous sunroof implosion while driving on the highway. Temperature would not have been a considering factor here, nor did anything hit the sunroof but it exploded and showered the occupants with glass - both pebble-sized pieces and small shards. The curtain was open at the time and glass went everywhere. Thankfully, the driver had the good sense to pull over i
... mmediately without an accident. This incident interrupted their trip, they had to find someone to tape a plastic cover over the gaping hole, then have the sunroof replaced, all at considerable expense and hassle. This was both a very dangerous AND frightening experience. Audi headquarters was contacted and denied any responsibility, saying that we need to handle this through our insurance company which I find outrageous as it has been recorded that quite a few Audis have experienced this same situation. It should be covered under their warranty!!Read more

Vehicle is having erratic downshifting at highway speeds causing it to drop gears and brake harshly then violently accelerate. The transmission was already replaced by the dealer in 2025. Dealer is reporting they cannot get the vehicle to duplicate the issue but this has posed a great safety risk of injury for my family.

Car has over 290,000 miles, sole owner of car. Just learned the odometer will freeze at 299,999 miles based on issue known by Toyota for a few models. Odometer freeze was not disclosed even though Toyota has selectively repaired some cars odometers at no charge to customers or split costs with customers. Odometer freeze makes safe maintenance of car more difficult. Toyota apparently added a 9 year
... warranty extension because of its knowledge of problems but didn't notify owners. My 2004 vehicle would have been covered through 2013, but I was not given an opportunity to have the problem repaired under warranty. Toyota apparently knew this problem affected Corolla (up through 2008), Matrix & Vibe (1st generation) and 1st generation Prius cars. My car manual says that the odometer "shows the total distance the vehicle has been driven." My ability to continue safely using my car will be compromised when my odometer reaches 299,999 and Toyota chose not to warn and repair this defect which affects their customers, and our ability to safely operate our cars on the road. If I had known about the problem sooner I would have addressed it sooner. Toyota knew but chose to only address the issue on a case by case basis even though the cars were apparently designed with this defect which was hidden.Read more
