Incredibly dangerous situation! Driving down I-15 in SLC when my Sunroof EXPLODED! 2024 Toyota Corolla Cross Hybrid, 22k miles, purchased new and sunroof came with the car. Sounded like a gunshot. Luckily, no one was injured by flying glass and kept the car stable. I could see how someone reacting to this sound might slam on their brakes or swerve the car or worse the driver could be cut by fallin
... g glass if the slider were open. My "damage" is having to pay for a new roof. Toyota dealer tried to say that something hit my car and it wasn't a manufacturer defect. Right. Tell me how a rock is going to get past my large Thule cargo box to drop a hole like this one! I filed a claim with State Farm but the part is special and must be ordered. UP until yesterday I have never had any issues with the sunroof. Such a racquet. Toyota gets to keep selling replacement sunroofs and the insurance companies and consumers are the ones paying for their poor workmanship.Read more

I am filing a complaint regarding an unresolved and ongoing issue with my 2021 Hyundai Elantra N Line. The vehicle currently has approximately 80,100 miles. This issue began when the vehicle had under 60,000 miles. At that time, I brought the vehicle to a Hyundai dealership because the check engine light was on and I was informed it was related to the EVAP system, specifically the purge valve. I
... spent approximately five hours at the dealership and was told the issue had been repaired. However, shortly after leaving the dealership, the check engine light returned with the same issue. Since then, I have attempted multiple times to resolve this problem. I even purchased a new purge valve and had it installed by an independent mechanic. Despite replacing the purge valve, the check engine light remains on and continues to report EVAP system issues. I also had a mechanic perform a smoke test on the system, which did not reveal any leaks in the EVAP system. The mechanic stated they could not determine why the system continues to show a purge valve or EVAP-related code and suggested that only Hyundai may have the tools necessary to properly diagnose the issue. I contacted Hyundai corporate customer service for assistance, but they informed me that each dealership is privately owned and they could not intervene or assist further. This issue has now been ongoing for approximately two years. I continue to experience the check engine light and now the vehicle is beginning to have drivability problems including vibration and jerking during acceleration. This unresolved issue also affects my ability to pass vehicle inspections if the check engine light remains on. I am requesting assistance in resolving this ongoing issue and receiving proper diagnosis and repair support from Hyundai so that the vehicle can be repaired correctly.Read more

I am reporting a recurring structural failure of the Sky One-Touch power top assembly on my 2024 Jeep Wrangler. Since August 28, 2024, the vehicle has been out of service for a cumulative total of 62 business days across seven separate repair attempts. Safety Risk: The failure involves the tensioning system and internal springs of the power top. The defect has progressed to the point that visibl
... e daylight is present through the gaps between the roof assembly and the vehicle body while the top is fully closed. At highway speeds (55–70 mph), this gap causes the roof to lift and oscillate significantly. This creates a severe driver distraction and poses an unreasonable risk of the assembly further destabilizing or detaching from the vehicle while in motion, endangering occupants and trailing traffic. Dealer Misconduct & Repair History: During the third repair attempt, a service associate confirmed the loss of tension in the straps and springs. However, the technician subsequently refused to document these findings. The dealership omitted from their report to Stellantis that they performed unauthorized 'readjustments' and 'screwed the assembly back in' to temporarily mask the defect. This deceptive reporting prevents an accurate warranty history and deliberately avoids Lemon Law accountability. Despite these 'fixes,' the structural seal remains compromised. The vehicle is currently unsafe for highway operation."Read more

The instrument cluster (combination meter) failed completely and without warning, going entirely blank. This eliminated all speedometer, warning light, and indicator functionality. The failure began occurring intermittently before becoming persistent. No warning lamps or messages preceded the failure — the cluster simply went dark. The loss of speedometer functionality made the vehicle unsafe to
... operate, as the driver had no means of monitoring vehicle speed. The loss of all warning indicators eliminated visibility into any safety-critical vehicle alerts that may have been active during the failure periods. The problem was confirmed by the dealership and is the subject of Safety Recall 25TA08 (Combination Meter May Go Blank). The vehicle was brought to a Toyota dealership where the recall was documented and the repair was eventually completed. The replacement part required VIN-specific production and programming by Toyota, resulting in an extended out-of-service period of nearly two months at the dealership, and approximately five months from the first occurrence of the failure. During the out-of-service period, the vehicle could not pass state inspection and was legally inoperable. The component has been replaced and is no longer available for inspection.Read more

I am reporting an ongoing defect with the infotainment system in my 2020 Mazda CX-5, involving ghost-touch inputs, system freezing, and random reboots. These issues began around the second year of ownership and have progressively worsened. The system constantly registers inputs that are not being made (ghost-touch), changes settings on its own; and occasionally- reboots while operating the vehicl
... e. This makes it difficult or impossible to reliably use essential vehicle functions such as navigation, communication, and audio controls. The issue is particularly concerning because it creates a driver distraction and potential safety risk, as the system behaves unpredictably and requires attention while driving to manage or disable unintended inputs. I reported these issues multiple times to an authorized Mazda dealership while the vehicle was still under warranty. However, I was told no issue could be found or that software updates would resolve the problem. These updates did not fix the issue. On August 9, 2025, another system update was performed under the Mazda Connect Class Action Settlement, but the problem persists. The dealership is now requiring a paid diagnostic fee before proceeding further, despite the known nature of this defect. Based on my research and widespread owner reports, this issue is commonly associated with infotainment system defects, including screen delamination and/or failure of the Connectivity Master Unit (CMU). I am submitting this complaint to document the defect and request further review, as it affects safe operation and driver attention.Read more

Kia has since issued a federal safety recall confirming this exact defect — citing FMVSS noncompliance and stating the blank screen increases crash risk due to a software error causing overheat protection mode. Vehicle was at dealer for an active safety recall defect that went undiagnosed during a repair visit. DEFECT 2 — SEAT MODULE: Second-row seat module failed. Vehicle returned to dealer March 5 (still there, 27+ days). Wiring harness replacement attempted approximately March 21 — failed, defect persisted. Kia Engineering formally escalated approximately March 24. Seat module ordered but not yet installed. No resolution or completion date provided. Vehicle has been out of service 31+ cumulative days. Safety recall defect went undetected during prior dealer repair visit. Both defects remain unresolved on a vehicle purchased just 97 days ago.Read more

it is unfortunately the camshaft end play issue that we see with these engines from time to time. Honda identified that the surface roughness of the camshaft thrust cover on these engines was manufactured out of specification. This poor surface finish creates excessive friction and wear, allowing the camshaft to develop excess fore-and-aft movement (end play). As the camshaft shifts physically out
... of its correct alignment, it begins to scrape against the thrust cover or cause the reluctor wheel to physically strike and damage the Camshaft Position (CMP) sensor. So you have to replace the camshaft, the camshaft sensor, the thrust plate, and timing cover plate. In this picture you can see where the reluctor wheel has been scraping on the cam sensor. This was sent to me not only by one mechanic but multiple. Honda needs to replace this and a recall needs to be made!!!Read more

This was the third of three consecutive failed appointments — all failed because El Segundo could not provide a promised loaner vehicle (January 21, February 10, March 14, 2026). The only surviving record [XXX] ) was altered by Rivian Service — they inserted the statement that ride height appears to be as expected and does not show variance before any inspection, directly contradicting my written report and a video I submitted through the Rivian app on January 2, 2026 at 9:34am documenting the defect. Rivian also added an all-caps requirement to replicate the issue on a test drive prior to intake despite existing written and video documentation. 4 out of 5 times driving the car the infotainment screen with get random touches guiding you to unknown menus or system setting or maybe just to a different radio station. Where I think this becomes a legitimate safety concern (asside from changing vehicle settings like security) is when trying to use maps function the random touches will direct the map away from where you are or where your next t
... urn might be. So you basically need to keep hitting re-center just to get you back on course. However most of the time there is an uncomanded touch that is stuck on the screen or possibly a number of touches that prevent a real finger print touch to be sensed ultimately preventing you from re-centering. This causes extended moments where attention is taken away from the road or late/last minute route correction causing unsafe road/driving conditions. The manufacturer only recommends doing a system restart of your infotainment screen which does nothing or complete replacement of the screen which in many cases including my own is not covered by warranty.... the alternative is to disconnect your phone from android auto or apple car play and use it in your hand which again causes distracted driving. If this was something as simple as a volume knob or temperature control not responding I wouldn't even be here but since it always touching different placed and navigating you places you dont want to be i see it as a clear safety issue that should be corrected. My battery kept dying every 6-12 months for the past 8 years! Every time I took it to the dealer or to other mechanics, they ran diagnostics tests and told me nothing was wrong, even though I knew something was definitely wrong. We found out that MANY other Nissan Armada owners AND Infiniti QX80 owners have been dealing with the exact same thing. They showed us how to cut a wire, that would bypass
... the IPDM smart charging system. Ever since cutting that wire, my car has been working perfectly, and no more battery dying! Please look into this so others don't deal with what I did. Here's the video that we received that explains everything: [XXX] INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)Read more

I placed my work items in the back seat, closed the door. I heard something falling and found the back windshiled windshield had exploded.

Shards of glass flew into the vehicle and rained down on me, creating a very hazardous driving situation. I did not observe any foreign object that could have caused the sunroof to break.

The vehicle caught fire within a short period of time, and 911 was called. There was no known external cause for the fire. The incident appeared to originate from the engine compartment. This created a serious safety hazard and posed a risk of in
... jury and property damage. The fire required immediate response from the fire department, and the vehicle was declared a total loss. The vehicle is currently in the possession of the insurance company. This incident raises concerns about a potential mechanical or electrical defect. A vehicle should not catch fire under normal operating or parked conditions. I am requesting that this incident be reviewed as a potential safety defect.Read more

On the interstate from [XXX] to [XXX] the Nissan Versa's License Plate reflected light so bright that it blinded my ride and we had to slow down and wait for them to get farther away from us. This is not random, they have a spray fixative on their license plate designed to block cameras from clocking their license plate or their numbers being recorded.
