What component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request? The specific component has not yet been identified. The issue involves unexplained water intrusion into the vehicle’s floor pan under normal operating conditions. The vehicle is available for inspection upon request. How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? Water intrusion into the
... cabin creates potential safety risks, including exposure of electrical systems to moisture, possible corrosion of critical components, and degradation of interior air quality (e.g., mold). These conditions could affect vehicle reliability and occupant safety. The last time that I drove it the brakes were engaging randomly and forcefully. Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? The vehicle has been inspected by a dealership; however, the source of the water intrusion has not been identified or confirmed, and responsibility has not been accepted. Neither did the dealership provide requested documentation of the leak test. Has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others? The dealership has inspected the vehicle, and a claim has been submitted to my insurance carrier. Volvo corporate has opened a case but has not conducted a technical inspection or provided findings to date. Were there any warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear? Yes, there were both warning lamps and messages, and the dealership serviced and claimed that it was 90% fixed and were just waiting for a small component. They said that I could resume driving it, then the problem got worse.Read more

The rearview camera system fails intermittently when the vehicle is placed in reverse. The display will either show a distorted image or go completely blank without warning. This issue has occurred multiple times. This malfunction significantly reduces rear visibility and creates a dangerous condition while backing, especially in environments with pedestrians or other vehicles. The failure increa

There were no warning lights, alerts, or messages prior to or during the failure. The issue appears to occur randomly and without any clear triggering condition. The vehicle has not yet been repaired because the manufacturer has issued a recall, but the remedy is not yet available. The condition has not yet been inspected by a dealer, but it matches the known recall involving rearview camera failure. The vehicle and camera system are available for inspection upon request.Read more

In September 2025, an authorized Kia dealership performed recall SC284XM (HECU electrical short fire risk) on this 2012 Kia Sorento. During the repair, the dealership disconnected the battery, resetting the PCM/ECU and clearing all OBD-II readiness monitors including the oxygen sensor monitor. Despite driving hundreds of miles afterward, the O2 sensor monitor has not reached a Ready state. A malfu
... nctioning or unmonitored oxygen sensor creates a direct safety risk — the PCM cannot properly regulate the fuel-air mixture, increasing the risk of catalytic converter overheating, engine damage, and potential fire. The vehicle cannot pass California's mandatory smog inspection and the registration has lapsed, forcing the owner to operate an unregistered vehicle or go without transportation entirely. The dealership has verbally confirmed this is a known model-year defect — the root cause is a software condition requiring a PCM reflash, not achievable through normal drive cycles. This is the second occurrence; the identical failure happened in 2022 after a prior battery disconnect on this vehicle. The vehicle is now held at the dealership 11+ days with no update, no loaner, and an ~$460 estimate for repairs caused entirely by Kia's own recall service. A vehicle actively subject to a fire-risk recall (SC284) was returned to an owner in a condition where the engine management system cannot be properly monitored — compounding the original safety risk rather than resolving it. All this an yet a no no-cost remedy has been issued. This vehicle has been subject to five NHTSA recalls: SC200 (engine fire), SC147 (engine bearing), SC284 (HECU fire), SC172 (fuel pipe fire), and brake-shift interlock defect. I had just finished charging the vehicle overnight on a Level 2 charger at a family members home. I immediately turned the car around parked it in the driveway again and called roadside assis
... tance to have it towed to the Kia service center. The Kia service center confirmed that it was an ICCU (integrated charging control unit) failure, which they replaced 4-5 days later after ordering the part. These error messages were the first and only indicator of the problem, there were no smaller issues leading up to the issue. Because the failure happened within a block of a family member's home, I was able to get to safety. But it could have been a completely different situation had the failure occurred even a few minutes later when I was on the freeway.Read more

I am experiencing persistent and unresolved issues with the infotainment and display system in my Toyota Corolla, primarily involving Apple CarPlay overriding the driver display. Even when I manually disable the setting that allows CarPlay/navigation to take over the display behind the steering wheel, the system does not retain this setting. After turning the car off and restarting it, the navigat
... ion/map interface reappears and overrides the driver display again. This behavior is extremely distracting while driving and interferes with my ability to safely view normal vehicle information. It has created multiple situations where I felt at risk of a collision due to unexpected display changes and distraction. In addition, there are ongoing system malfunctions including: •Volume controls becoming unresponsive (the slider does not adjust sound), requiring the system to be restarted to function again. •Intermittent failure of the phone connection/charging port, where the device does not connect properly to the system. A prior software update temporarily addressed one issue, but the core problems persist. I have been attempting to resolve this through Ardmore Toyota dealership in PA for approximately one year without a meaningful fix or access to a qualified technician. This appears to be a recurring software or system defect that affects driver attention and vehicle operation. I am concerned this creates a significant safety risk for myself and others on the road. No one has taken me seriously even after I’ve gone to several Toyota dealerships over and over and I explained my concerns and they promise that I’ll be on a list of waitlist to be seen by a field tech technician however that has never happened and they are refusing to provide assistance.Read more

While my vehicle was at an authorized Hyundai dealership for engine warranty repair, I reported a suspension grinding noise and requested that it be inspected. No inspection findings, documentation, or technici

The repair documentation I later received does not include any reference to the suspension issue or any inspection findings related to that concern. The dealership has also confirmed that no additional documentation exists beyond the repair order. After the vehicle was returned, warning lights appeared that were not present prior to the repair. A suspension grinding noise may indicate issues affecting steering, suspension, or vehicle stability. I am concerned that the vehicle was released without inspection or documentation of a reported safety related condition.Read more

High voltage battery management system generated fault codes BMS_u008 and BMS_f071 during a Supercharger charging session, prohibiting drive mode. Vehicle had been driven normally to the Supercharger with no drive-prohibiting alerts during transit. After connecting to the Supercharger, fault codes manifested. Despite fault condition, vehicle continued charging to 93% state of charge before requiri
... ng towing. This is the second such event — original HV battery also generated BMS fault alerts prohibiting drive mode during a charging session in January 2024 and was replaced with a remanufactured assembly. Third-party firmware alert data shows recurring hardware charging fault alerts (CHG_f018, CHG_f076, customer message: Unable to charge) occurring in January and February 2026, weeks prior to the March 2026 failure. Alert DI_u014 also fired repeatedly on March 18, 2026 indicating insufficient 12V supply contributing to undriveable condition — a separate system from the HV battery. Tesla Service Center has not investigated whether Supercharger charging events contributed to either failure, has not produced Supercharger session logs, and has not attempted software-level fault resolution before recommending full hardware replacement. Tesla's own firmware documentation describes BMS_u008 as potentially self-clearing and BMS_f071 as having a documented clear condition. Remanufactured battery subsequently drained from 88% to 0% over 11 days while unplugged at service center — 6-9% per day versus normal 1-3% per day vampire drain, consistent with active BMS fault causing abnormal parasitic draw.Read more

The car was under warranty and experienced a transaxle failure while on a highway between Yuma, AZ and Tucson, AZ. The dealer who inspected and repaired the car determined the cause to be a flawed cooler replacement by a body shop in which transmission fluid was not properly replaced subsequent to a left front fender bender accident, which voided the warranty. (Fluids were dry on inspection; no le
... aks/issues identified at our residence or during "Toyota Care" X2 following the body shop repair.) The car worked flawlessly for one year after the body shop repair until the transaxle failed. Issue: There were no warning messages to indicate a problem with the fluid level until immediately before the catastrophic failure; we were able to get the car to the side of the road right before the wheels locked but had we not, a serious crash could have occurred. Toyota tells us there is no alert for fluids since they have designed the transaxle as a "closed system". However, conditions exist that could compromise this closed system so consumers (and service dealerships) should have a way to proactively identify a fluid level problem so it can be remedied to avoid potential safety hazards related to an abrupt failure.Read more

The vehicle is a 2020 Toyota Highlander experiencing a transmission system malfunction, specifically involving the automatic transmission and/or torque converter. Component/System Failure: The transmission produces a noticeable whining noise during acceleration and exhibits abnormal shifting behavior, including hesitation and delayed response when pressing the gas pedal. The issue appears to orig
... inate from the internal transmission components. The vehicle is available for inspection upon request. Safety Risk: This condition creates a serious safety concern, as the hesitation and delayed acceleration can impair the driver’s ability to safely merge into traffic, cross intersections, or respond to changing road conditions. The unpredictable response increases the risk of a collision, especially in high-speed or congested traffic environments. Reproducibility / Confirmation: The issue is consistently reproducible and occurs whenever the vehicle is accelerated. The problem has not yet been fully resolved and is in the process of being addressed with a dealership/service center. Inspections: The vehicle is scheduled to be inspected by a Toyota dealership. At this time, it has not yet been inspected by the manufacturer, police, or insurance representatives. Warning Signs / Symptoms: There were no warning lights or dashboard messages prior to or during the issue. The first symptom noticed was the whining noise during acceleration, followed by abnormal shifting behavior and hesitation. These symptoms have progressively become more noticeable over time. This issue appears consistent with reported transmission problems in similar model vehicles, raising concern that this may be a broader defect affecting vehicle safety. I took my vehicle to 3 different mechanics and they told me that my vehicle is not safe to drive long term without a total transmission replacement. Thank you!Read more

Water intrusion occurred inside the vehicle, resulting in extensive mold contamination throughout the interior, including the seats, front and rear carpets, and a child’s car seat. The source of the water intrusion has not been identified. The vehicle was taken to an authorized Subaru retailer, which confirmed in writing that water was present inside the vehicle and that mold was covering inter
... ior surfaces, including the child’s car seat. The only diagnostic test performed was a car wash to check for a sunroof leak, which did not replicate the issue. The retailer indicated that further diagnostic work would require significant interior disassembly and cleaning at the owner’s expense before the source of the leak can be determined. The manufacturer was contacted regarding this issue and declined assistance, citing “lack of required maintenance.” The specific maintenance and its relationship to the water intrusion have not been identified, and the source of the leak has not yet been diagnosed. The retailer also stated that technicians would not enter the vehicle due to the extent of the mold contamination. As a result, standard recall repairs have not been performed while the vehicle remains in this condition. A dealership technician also documented in a recorded inspection that water was present beneath the carpet, that the source of the leak could not be identified without further disassembly, and that the extent of mold contamination created an unsafe working environment. This condition creates a potential health and safety concern due to mold exposure inside the passenger cabin, particularly for a child occupant. In addition, excessive interior moisture has caused window fogging, which may impair visibility while driving. No warning lights or prior indicators were observed before the issue was discovered. The problem has been confirmed by a Subaru retailer. The vehicle remains available for inspection.Read more
