Driving on the highway with no obstacles or vehicles in proximity, the sunroof spontaneously shattered. If we had the sunroof visor (slide cover) open to let in light, we would have been rained down on by thousands of glass shards while driving at highway speeds. Luckily for us, the cover acted as a barrier from the glass. This part of the sunroof is over both driver and passenger seats. The vehi
... cle was driven to the dealership which was very close to the occurrence location and the dealership would not inspect vehicle but did do a work order stating that they would not cover exploding glass. Dealer stated that we needed to contact our insurance company but I have held off due to feeling like it would be a fraudulent claim of damage since it was not caused by an object striking our vehicle. We have documented 24 calls to case manager with Kia and no action or returned calls to date. (04/07/2026). On a call with the Kia 800 number, the customer representative acknowledged he had heard of numerous problems with the sunroofs exploding for no apparent reason. The vehicle had been parked inside our garage and not moved or driven since the incident waiting for someone to investigate or inspect our vehicle.Read more

What component or system failed: The entire Air Conditioning system, specifically the AC Compressor, Condenser, and Evaporator, failed catastrophically. The authorized Honda dealer diagnosed it as "Black Death," meaning the AC compressor internally shattered, sending metal shrapnel and contaminated oil throughout all AC lines and components. How was your safety put at risk: This failure is a SEVE
... RE SAFETY HAZARD. Because the AC compressor is dead, the windshield defroster/defogger system no longer functions. During rain or changes in temperature/humidity, the inside of the windshield fogs up instantly and cannot be cleared. This causes a sudden and complete loss of driver visibility, creating a high risk of a fatal crash on the highway. Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed: Yes. The vehicle was inspected by an authorized Honda dealership. The technician confirmed the catastrophic failure ("Black Death") and stated the entire system needs to be replaced. Previous history & Manufacturer response: Honda has known defects with the 2016 Civic AC system (Warranty Extensions 19-091 & 23-039). The condenser was previously replaced under warranty in 2023. Now, the defective compressor shaft seal has led to the complete destruction of the system. Despite this being a known defect that causes secondary damage to the entire system, Honda Corporate has refused to cover the repair costs for the collateral damage (evaporator and lines). The parts are currently on the vehicle and available for inspection. Were there warning lamps: There were no warning lights on the dashboard prior to the failure. The only symptom was the AC suddenly blowing hot air and the immediate loss of the defogging capability.Read more

About 1 time in 5, after getting ready to ride the entire display will freeze up 30-60 seconds after beginning the trip. Most often this occurs if CarPlay is also enabled. When this happens, all functionality on the dashboard display is frozen. No speedometer, tachometer, gear indicator, CarPlay freezes, etc. Only fix is to pull over, stop the bike and wait for it to power down - then restart and
... hope it works the next time. I have had instances where it has failed 3 times in a row before finally working. Once it works for over 2 minutes I have not had it freeze up. The other option is to keep riding with a frozen display for about 5 minutes, then it crashes and reboots and sometimes fixes itself mid-ride. This is annoying and dangerous to lose all vehicle information like this. Have checked for firmware updates OTA and it says I'm up to date. I am not the only one this happens to, the Can-Am forums have other users with the same problem.Read more

Issue 1: Complete transmission failure was diagnosed by Subaru dealer March 24, 2026 at 5 years and 6 months after purchase with an odometer reading of 45,000 miles (drive train warranty 5 yrs/60,000 miles). Had to purchase and have installed a rebuilt Subaru transmission. First noticed transmission was slipping with a large load in vehicle May 2025 at 4 years and 8 months after purchase at a
... bout 40,000 miles on odometer. The issue was subsequently not noticed under typical load until slipping transmission signs reappeared December 2025. Made appointment in March 2026 due to a planned trip to [XXX] mid-February to mid-March. Failed transmission poses critical safety risks including loss of acceleration, stalling in traffic and unexpected deceleration. Subaru of New England was able to install the transmission at about 50% of the initial estimate over $12,000 (final paid $5400). Subaru of America file was claimed (Case # XXX-XXX) for the balance, but any further reimbursement was rejected. Issue 2: Driver window alternating between getting stuck fully opened as well as reversing to the open position when trying to roll up. The failure of window regulator and channel run was diagnosed by Subaru dealer March 24, 2026 at 5 years and 6 months after purchase with an odometer reading of 45,000 miles. Had to purchase and replace the Subaru window regulator and channel run. Incident Date: 04/05/2026 Vehicle Speed: 65–70 MPH Location: [XXX] Component: Engine / Power Train / Fuel System Summary of Safety Defect: While traveling at highway speeds (65–70 MPH) with four passengers (including two children), the vehicle suffered a sudden, catastrophic engine failure without any prior warning or symptomatic noise. The Malfunction Indicator Light (MIL) began flashing r
... apidly, immediately followed by a total loss of motive power. Despite throttle input, the vehicle failed to maintain speed or accelerate, creating an immediate hazard in high-speed traffic. Hazardous Conditions encountered: Upon the loss of power, I observed white smoke trailing from the exhaust and a strong burning odor entering the cabin from the engine compartment. To avoid a high-speed rear-end collision, I was forced to perform an emergency maneuver across active lanes of traffic to reach the shoulder. Due to the immediate fear of a vehicle fire (indicated by the smoke and burning smell), my family was forced to evacuate the vehicle and wait outside in a remote location for six hours. Correlation to Known Defects: This incident appears to be a direct manifestation of the defect described in Nissan Recall ID R25E3/R25E4 / NHTSA ID 26V0801 regarding Engine Main Bearing Seizure. The failure resulted in a complete loss of propulsion and a potential fire risk due to fluid ignition or a breached engine block. Post-Incident Status: The vehicle was towed to Nissan of Cumming and is currently awaiting a formal inspection for internal metal debris. The failure of this critical component under highway conditions posed a life-threatening risk to my family and other motorists. Subject: Vehicle Fire Following ABS Recall Repair – Safety Complaint I am filing a safety complaint regarding a vehicle fire that occurred shortly after a recall repair was performed. Vehicle: Jeep (Grand Cherokee/2019) Mileage at time of incident: Approximate: 58,350 Approximately four weeks ago, my vehicle underwent a recall repair related to the ABS system at Westgate Jeep located in Rale
... igh, NC 27617. Following that repair, I experienced brake issues due to air in the brake lines, which required a return visit to the same service provider for correction. On April 5, 2026, the vehicle caught fire while parked in my driveway. The fire originated in the front driver-side engine compartment area, where the ABS and brake components are located. The fire caused extensive damage to the engine bay, wiring, and surrounding components, rendering the vehicle inoperable. Given the timing and location of the fire, I am concerned that the recall repair or subsequent brake system work was performed improperly leading to either a brake fluid leak or an electrical malfunction or defective parts that caused the fire. This incident presents a serious safety risk, as it could have resulted in injury or loss of life. I am requesting a full investigation into: - The quality and safety of the recall repair performed - Whether improper installation, damaged components, or fluid leaks contributed to the fire - Whether other vehicles repaired under this recall may be at similar risk The vehicle has not been altered or repaired since the fire and is available for inspection. Supporting documentation (repair invoices, photos, etc.) can be provided upon request. I respectfully request that this matter be reviewed urgently to prevent potential harm to other drivers.Read more

I am reporting a failure in the integrity of Federal Safety Recall completion and documentation at Kia of Daphne. On 2/6/26, I was issued official paperwork stating a recall part was 'Special Ordered.' On 4/3, I attempted to call for FU in part progress. Informed “recall was done and replaced 2/6, and no part was ordered.” Advisor requested I speak to manager, I declined, request they speak t

On 4/6/26 late afternoon, unprofessional call from another advisor who stated “we don’t see part ordered,” Advisor manager intercepted call, extremely unprofessional, stated he reviewed 4/4 and found nothing to support my statement, yet no FU call was placed to I, nor was any contact ever attempted by Kia. The dealership management proceeded to claim the recall was 'Complete' despite no record of the part arriving or being installed, and other advise “misspoke”. When I presented in person and requested clarification on this discrepancy in documentation/information/last signed document by I based on statement of part is order and will call when arrived to schedule; a male staff member became physically aggressive and volatile. I am concerned that the dealership is inaccurately reporting recall completions to NHTSA/Kia America without actually performing the required repairs or using the specified parts.I am also concerned for the integrity and safe environment of this dealership for customers and staff. Complaint Summary: I am filing a complaint regarding a potentially defective A/C compressor that is producing abnormal noise and may indicate premature failure. Description of Issue: My vehicle’s A/C compressor produces a loud, rhythmic “chugging” or knocking noise at idle when the A/C system is off. The noise is excessive and not consistent with normal operation. When the A/C is turned on,
... the noise changes but remains abnormally loud. Based on my experience and comparison to other similar vehicles, this is not normal behavior. A comparable 2024 Subaru WRX does not exhibit this issue, and many other 2022 WRX owners have reported similar symptoms. Safety Concern: This is not just a noise concern—it may indicate internal compressor failure or premature wear. The A/C compressor in this vehicle is part of a continuously driven system (no traditional clutch), meaning it is always engaged via the serpentine belt. If the compressor were to fail internally, it could: •Seize or bind, potentially damaging or breaking the serpentine belt •Lead to sudden loss of power steering assist (if belt-driven) •Cause loss of alternator function (battery charging failure) •Result in engine overheating if the water pump is belt-driven •Leave the vehicle stranded unexpectedly This presents a potential safety risk, especially if failure occurs while driving. Additional Context: Subaru has issued a Technical Service Bulletin (TSB) for a similar A/C compressor issue in another model using a comparable design, which includes replacement procedures for certain serial number ranges. Despite this, Subaru has not acknowledged the issue for the WRX, even though there are numerous owner reports of the same symptoms. Conclusion: The abnormal noise suggests a potential defect that could lead to premature failure and safety-related consequences. I am requesting that this issue be investigated for possible defects in design or manufacturing affecting the A/C compressor in the 2022 SubarRead more
