Dear American Honda Motor Co., Inc. ,I am writing to formally document my experience with a premature failure of the Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT) in my Honda HR-V. The vehicle was covered under the extended warranty program Honda implemented specifically for the known CVT issues affecting 2016–2020 model years. In On 3/10/26 the CVT failed at approximately 96,000 miles. The vehicle w
... as towed to an authorized Honda dealership, where technicians confirmed premature belt deterioration and breakage. Prior to the failure, I had the vehicle serviced at the dealership for the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) software update outlined in Honda Service Bulletin 21-047. During that visit, I reported a noticeable burning smell, which I now believe originated from the failing transmission belt. The dealership assured me there were no issues and stated that the software update had adjusted the gear ratio to reduce strain on the transmission. The vehicle was returned to me with no further action recommended. Subsequent communication with American Honda revealed that the company had been aware of widespread CVT belt issues in these model years. Rather than issue a full recall, Honda extended the powertrain warranty to 7 years or 150,000 miles (whichever occurs first). My repeated attempts to escalate the matter with Honda Customer Service, including multiple requests for contact information for a regional manager, were unsuccessful. After several weeks of delays—during which my vehicle remained at the dealership for over 20 +days—Honda Corporate initially offered to cover a remanufactured CVT replacement at a cost of $4,500 to me. The dealership ultimately assisted by reducing my out-of-pocket expense to $2,900.I find it unacceptable that a vehicle with only 96,000 miles required a major transmission replacement costing nearly $3,000, especially after Honda had already acknowledged the defect through a technical service bulletin and an extended warranty. The component that failed is the cowl panel weather stripping/seal located at the base of the windshield on my 2022 Subaru Outback. The material is visibly peeling and deteriorating despite the vehicle having only approximately 23,000 miles. The defective component is still installed on the vehicle and is available for inspection upon request. While this issue has not yet caused a direct accident
... , it creates a potential safety concern due to possible water intrusion and degradation of sealing integrity in an area critical to protecting components beneath the windshield. Over time, this could lead to visibility issues, corrosion, or damage to surrounding systems. The issue has been confirmed by an authorized Subaru dealership, which inspected the vehicle. Subaru of America also reviewed the case in coordination with the dealership. Subaru of America has acknowledged that design changes were made to the cowl panel in later model years, but denied assistance for my vehicle. The manufacturer concluded—without providing specific evidence—that the failure was due to “outside influence and environmental factors.” The vehicle has not been inspected by police or insurance representatives, as no accident has occurred. There were no warning lamps, messages, or prior indicators before the failure. The deterioration appears to have developed prematurely under normal usage conditions. Given the low mileage, the visible material failure, and the existence of design revisions, I believe this issue is consistent with a premature failure and potential design or material defect, rather than environmental wear.Read more

A persistent and dangerous safety defect regarding my 2026 Hyundai Tucson. Since February 19, 2026, I have experienced a chemical/burning odor when the heater is in operation. To date, I have presented the vehicle for repair on fi

I went to open the trunk on my 2022 Tesla Model 3 using the normal electric trunk button above the license plate. When I clicked the button, the trunk opened a few inches, made an abnormal noise, and then came crashing shut. At this point, I opened trunk manually to see what occurred and immediately saw the electrically-operated trunk strut separated from the trunk and also a crack in my rear glas
... s as a result of the strut breaking off and getting sandwiched between the glass and the trunk lid when it came crashing shut. This is not only a major design flaw, but a huge safety concern. Other Model 3 owners on Reddit have experienced this exact same event happen, clearly indicating the flaw in the part and design of it. In the newer generation Model 3 from 2024 until present, Tesla has changed the design of the trunk strut because they knew it was flawed on the last one. My 2022 Model 3 has the older, more dangerous design. Had my hand and fingers been under the trunk when this occurred, I could’ve sustained a serious injury from the weight of the trunk collapsing on me, but it thankfully didn’t. There is no failsafe in place like a backup gas strut in the event that something like this happens and Tesla put the entire weight of the trunk lid on one electrically-actuated strut on the left side that is prone to misalignment and failure. Tesla needs to be held accountable for this design flaw in the older Model 3s as this trunk part is beginning to wear out or become misaligned in many people’s vehicles by this point. My car has only 62,500 miles on it and this managed to occur. It’s only a matter of time before this part fails on many other Tesla owners, causing massive financial losses and potential injury.Read more

Complaint Summary: Post recall catalytic converter failure on 2016 Kia Soul with 1.6L GDI engine (SC176 recall previously performed). Complaint Details: I own a 2016 Kia Soul equipped with the 1.6 liter Gamma GDI engine (engine code G4FD, emissions family GKMXV01.6DBE). This engine is part of Kia’s SC176 recall for catalytic converter overheating and thermal damage. My dealer performed the SC17
... 6 ECU software update in May 2019, but did not replace the catalytic converter at that time because the P0420 code had not yet appeared. In early 2026, my catalytic converter failed with a P0420 “Catalyst Efficiency Below Threshold” code. My mechanic confirmed the converter was internally damaged. This failure is consistent with the known SC176 defect, where converters can be partially damaged before the ECU update and fail later. Kia and the dealer refused to replace the converter under the recall, stating that because the P0420 code did not appear in 2019, the converter is no longer covered. I was forced to pay $2,781.91 out of pocket for a new catalytic converter, exhaust manifold, and oxygen sensors. The diagnostic test was another $120 plus tax. This appears to be a case where the converter was already compromised by the SC176 defect prior to the software update, but the failure occurred later. I am requesting that NHTSA document this issue, as it suggests the recall remedy may not fully address pre existing catalyst damage and may leave owners with significant repair costs. I am reporting a recurring defect involving the sunroof drain system in my 2023 Nissan Pathfinder Platinum that has caused multiple interior flooding incidents. The vehicle has flooded three separate times due to failure of the sunroof drainage system. Water enters the cabin during rain events and accumulates inside the vehicle, causing damage to the interior and raising concerns about potential
... electrical system exposure and safety hazards. This issue has been addressed by a Nissan dealership on multiple occasions; however, the defect has not been permanently resolved and continues to reoccur. The repeated failure of the drainage system indicates a potential design or manufacturing defect rather than normal wear or maintenance-related issues. Water intrusion into the cabin creates safety concerns including: Potential damage to electrical components Risk of mold and air quality issues inside the vehicle Driver distraction and reduced vehicle reliability Despite multiple repair attempts, the issue persists. Nissan has declined further assistance due to the vehicle being outside of the warranty period, even though the defect is ongoing and unresolved. I am submitting this complaint to document a potential systemic issue with the sunroof drainage system that may affect other vehicles of the same model.Read more

To whom it may concern, I am writing to formally express my profound dissatisfaction and escalating concern regarding a persistent mechanical issue with my Honda vehicle, which remains unresolved despite numerous attempts to secure a repair since its purchase in June 2024. Upon acquiring my brand-new vehicle in June 2024, I soon detected a distinctive clicking or thumping sound emanating from t
... he steering mechanism whenever the wheel was turned. I promptly brought the vehicle to Lakeland Regal Honda's service department for diagnosis. A service technician conducted an assessment, confirming the audible anomaly, but I was subsequently informed of a parts unavailability and assured that I would be contacted once the necessary components arrived. Regrettably, no such communication was ever received. The issue persisted unabated throughout 2024, prompting a second visit to Lakeland Regal Honda. During this subsequent appointment, the service department acknowledged the ongoing problem, noting it as a prevalent concern among several customers. I was informed that the component in question, reportedly related to the axle assembly, was currently on backorder and that the dealership was awaiting a factory shipment from Honda. Once again, I was promised a follow-up, a commitment that, unfortunately, was not fulfilled. The situation has now extended to April 8, 2026, nearly two years since the initial report. Upon contacting Lakeland Regal Honda once more, I was advised that the dealership was no longer authorized to procure the necessary parts for this specific issue and that I should direct my inquiries to Honda corporate services. This directive was particularly frustrating, as I had already undertaken this action previously, only to be informed that the part remained on backorder and that I would be contacted. On April 8, 2026, I again contacted Honda corporate. A representative recorded my details and assured me the matter would be escalated to a case management .Read more

In the 5 months I have owned this vehicle, the windshield has been chipped at least six time by debris while driving. As I am retired, I do not do a lot of freeway travel and 700 of the 3400 miles were from a trip to visit my mom. I had fewer windshield chips on my previous Honda CRV in 8 years and 90000 miles than I have had with this 2026 CRV. My dealer ignored my request to even look at the iss

A motorcycle fire occurred involving a Royal Enfield Himalayan 450 while the vehicle was parked and not in operation. The specific component that failed is UNKNOWN. However, based on the observed damage pattern, the fire appears to have originated in the rear-mid section of the motorcycle, in the area near the battery, wiring harness, or fuel-related components. The incident presents a significa
... nt safety concern because the fire occurred without active operation of the vehicle. This raises the possibility of an electrical short, battery-related issue, or fuel system malfunction that could lead to spontaneous ignition. If such a condition were to occur in a confined space (such as a garage) or near structures, it could pose a serious risk of property damage, injury, or loss of life. There were no known warning lights, error messages, or prior symptoms observed before the incident. The failure occurred suddenly. The vehicle has not been inspected by the manufacturer. No technical inspection has been conducted to determine the root cause of the fire. A local fire department investigated the incident and determined that the cause of the fire is “undetermined.” No external ignition source or confirmed arson was identified. The damaged motorcycle remains available for inspection upon request. The vehicle has not yet been brought in for this specific issue. The problem is consistently reproducible — any slight movement of the USB cable causes disconnection. This is a known and widely reported issue No. The vehicle has not yet been inspected by any of these parties regarding this specific defect. No warning lamps illuminate. The only symptom is the CarPlay interface disconnecting on the screen when the vehicle hits a bump or the cable is slightly moved, indicating the USB port itself is physically loose and failing to maintain a stable connection. The issue began and has persisted since I first noticed it. No prior warning was given before the port became loose. The USB port used for wired Apple CarPlay is physically loose and wobbly, causing the connection to drop with the slightest vibration or road bump. This created concern about loss of control and drivability. The vehicle had recently undergone recall service, after which these issues began occurring intermittently. The vehicle was brought to an authorized Nissan dealership multiple for diagnosis of the CVT warning, AWD errors, and loss of power. The dealership kept the vehicle for several hours on multiple occasions but stated they were unable to replicate the issue. No repair was performed any of the times. The safety concern remains unresolved. This continually happens and they yell at me saying there's nothing they could do. To be direct: I am aware that “unable to replicate” is often used to avoid opening warranty claims or authorizing costly repairs. However, this does not resolve the issue, nor does it eliminate the safety risk. The vehicle is demonstrably unsafe when the failure occurs, and the burden should not be shifted onto the customer simply because the issue is intermittent.Read more
