Safety Recall remedy not fixed in a timely manner
Incident date: Mar 18, 2026
While traveling to Abilene Tx to see my doctor my check engine light came on. I pulled into the Hyundai dealership and ask the service advisor to plug into my vehicle and let me know what was going on. After he talked to his service manager he advised me that they "where to busy" and the earliest they could get me in would be the next Monday. This was Wednesday. My home is 100 miles from Abilene.
... I asked if he thought it would be alright and he said sure. I barely made it back to Big Spring before it started clinking and cluttering. It sound horrible. My son said it sounded like it through a rod. He checked the oil and said that I had low oil however my low oil light did not come on. I notified the dealership and was advised that I had to have it towed back to the shop in Abilene which I did. After a week passed I was in Abilene and stopped to check on my vehicle. Needless to say my repairs are in excess of 20K. New engine etc. and rear suspension is out also. After researching I have found I'm not the only owner with these problems. There are numerous complaints about these problems with the Palisade. This is a danger to all who own this vehicle. Fires, accidents and no telling what can affect us. All these vehicles need to be recalled because of the engine that was placed in these vehicles. The engine is eating oil fast. My oil changes were on time. Hyundai and the dealership are unwilling to offer any help in repairing my vehicle. The parts on the suspension are sub standard. I can't believe they are called the #1 SUV in America! Buyers need to be aware of the substandard parts and engine. They also need to be aware the Hyundai doesn't stand behind their product or the dealership either for that matter. I shutter to think of who I could've been on the side of the road with a blown on fire engine. I'm thankful I made it home before the vehicle cratered.Read more

I am reporting a serious and ongoing transmission problem with my Ford F-150 that creates a safety hazard while driving. The transmission shifts very harshly and makes a loud thumping noise, especially when accelerating after braking in traffic. There are multiple occasions where I press the gas pedal and the vehicle does not move at all. After a delay, it suddenly engages with a very hard impact
... that feels like the vehicle has been hit from behind. This issue is extremely dangerous, especially in heavy traffic and on highways, because the vehicle hesitates or fails to move when attempting to accelerate. This puts me at risk of being rear-ended or causing an accident. I have taken the vehicle to the dealership multiple times. The transmission has been replaced three times, but the same issue continues to occur. Despite this, the dealer has returned the vehicle to me stating that no problem was found. I do not feel safe driving this vehicle, especially on highways, and it is my primary transportation to work. The problem remains unresolved despite repeated repair attempts. I believe this is a serious defect that needs investigation.Read more

They said the battery was slightly low, but had sufficient charge. They changed the fob battery, and topped off the car battery. That was all. The next day was the episode where it died in the turn lane. I had it towed to the dealership. This time they changed the battery to a more high capacity battery, and admitted that these vehicles have a battery put in them at the manufacturer that is not strong enough for the systems it runs. I even found a service bulletin about it online, #TSB 07-218-23R. This should be a recall item, and they should have changed this battery at my first visit! 2018 Volvo XC90, VIN [XXX] , 54,618 miles. Original owner. All service performed exclusively at Volvo Cars West Houston (same dealer, all three failures). Volvo Technical Journal TJ 34648.1.2, titled "Prior Approval - Lack of airflow causing poor cabin cooling," is classified as a Product Fix and explicitly lists the 2018 XC90 as an affected vehicle. This TJ required the dealer to submit a Prior
... Approval report to Volvo Corporate when installing the resistor fix. At 12,017 miles (August 2020), the dealer installed the evaporator resistor per TJ 34648.1.2, Part No. 32241228, under VST Operation 98734-2 — meaning Volvo Corporate has documentation of this vehicle's evaporator vulnerability on file since 2020. At 15,930 miles (March 2021), the AC compressor failed and was replaced under warranty, consistent with refrigerant starvation from the same underlying evaporator leak. The evaporator has now failed completely at 54,618 miles despite Volvo's own corrective measure being applied at 12,017 miles. The current failure (April 2026) includes a confirmed front evaporator refrigerant leak and AC discharge hose leak, documented by dealer borescope inspection showing corrosion on the evaporator fins and visual evidence of refrigerant oil residue at the discharge hose fitting. Dealer repair estimate is $4,406. This is a documented pattern failure across 2016-2018 Volvo XC90 models. This is a supplemental report to my previous filing regarding a 2023 VW ID.4 battery fire. On May 28, 2025, while being operated, the vehicle suffered a catastrophic thermal event. White smoke emanated from the front compartment followed by active flames. The vehicle was a total loss. Critical Safety Finding: A subsequent forensic examination conducted on October 29, 2025 (File 27739-01) by a cer
... tified fire investigator confirmed that after the initial fire was suppressed, the vehicle reportedly caught fire an additional time while being held at a tow/storage facility. Component Failure: The fire originated in the front compartment area. The failure is consistent with the "thermal runaway" risks identified in Recall 26V030, involving defective battery cell electrodes. Safety Risk: The multiple ignition nature of this failure poses a lethal risk to occupants, emergency responders, and tow/salvage facility operators. The fact that the vehicle reignited twice in storage, long after the initial suppression, suggests that current safety protocols or the scope of the existing recall may not fully address the volatility of this specific battery defect. Inspection Status: The vehicle was inspected by the manufacturer’s engineers and an independent forensic investigator. However, the manufacturer and the insurer are currently withholding the Photographic Report and Technical Field Report from the consumer. These records are vital to understanding the severity of the "multiple -ignition" event and should be subpoenaed or requested by NHTSA investigators to ensure the recall remedy is sufficient to prevent secondary fires in storage environments.Read more

Dear Toyota Japan Customer Experience Team, I am the owner of a 2016 Toyota Tacoma currently registered in Guam, U.S.A. I am writing to request your assistance regarding a water leak issue from the rear brake light area, which has caused the carpets and seats to become wet and develop mold. I originally purchased this vehicle in Saipan and recently relocated to Guam. When I visited the Guam Toyo
... ta Service Center, they kindly inspected my vehicle and informed me that this issue is related to the 3rd brake light gasket recall; however, the recall period has already expired. Unfortunately, I was never notified of this recall while the vehicle was in Saipan. Continuous exposure to mold has seriously affected both my health and my daughter’s health. Because of this, I had the vehicle professionally cleaned and sanitized by a specialist company. The Tacoma has always been our family’s favorite car, but now I drive it only because I have no choice. Every time I get in, I feel anxious and uneasy. The water leak itself is concerning, but the mold issue worries me even more. I truly hope this water leak and the mold problem can both be resolved so that I can once again enjoy driving my Tacoma with peace of mind. The blue circles in the attached photos indicate areas suspected of mold. These photos were taken right before I sent the car for cleaning. According to the cleaning company, when they removed the seats, they found water underneath the seats and carpets. Whenever I drive the vehicle, I experience persistent coughing and headaches due to mold exposure. This has become a serious health and safety concern. Since this issue is directly related to a previously recalled safety defect, I kindly request Toyota Japan to consider a Goodwill Repair or Safety Exception to address the water leak and the resulting interior damage.Read more

Vehicle: 2020 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4WD Purchase Date: [XXX] Mileage at Purchase: ~54,900 miles Dealer: Cherry Hill Jeep Chrysler Dodge, Cherry Hill, NJ I am filing this complaint because I am currently being required to drive a vehicle with a severe wheel misalignment that is visually observable, while the selling dealership has deemed it 'drivable' and has not completed the necessary repairs. On
... [XXX], I was involved in an accident in which I struck a curb after sliding on black ice. The damage included a bent lower control arm and a cracked subframe. I brought the vehicle to Cherry Hill Jeep Chrysler Dodge for repairs, which took approximately three weeks. I took delivery of the repaired vehicle on March 13, 2026. Upon taking delivery, I immediately noticed a severe misalignment. The wheel misalignment is so pronounced it is visually apparent while driving. I returned the vehicle to the dealership and they acknowledged the alignment issue. They have since told me there are additional parts needed to complete the repair, and that those parts have not yet arrived. As of today, April 10, 2026, the dealership has confirmed they still do not know when the parts will arrive. Despite the unresolved alignment issue, the dealership has deemed the vehicle 'drivable' and I have been left with no choice but to continue driving it. My daily commute is approximately 60 miles per day, 6 days per week. I have driven hundreds of miles in this condition. Driving a vehicle with severe wheel misalignment poses serious safety risks, including unpredictable handling, accelerated and uneven tire wear leading to potential tire failure, and reduced ability to maintain control in emergency situations — particularly concerning given that this vehicle's incident originated on icy roads. I am requesting that the NHTSA investigate the dealership's decision to return this vehicle to me in an unsafe condition and require me to continue operating it without a timeline INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA)Read more

What component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request? The Powertrain/Engine Control System. The vehicle suffers from a total loss of motive power while driving in traffic. It is available for inspection. How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? The vehicle unexpectedly enters "Limp Mode" while driving at various speeds in active traffic.
... When this happens, the accelerator pedal becomes completely unresponsive, forcing the vehicle to a crawl or a dead stop regardless of the flow of traffic around it. This creates a life-threatening risk of rear-end collisions and high-speed accidents, as the car cannot maintain speed or move to safety. I am forced to operate a vehicle that effectively "shuts down" while I am in the middle of the road. Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? Yes. Multiple independent mechanics have confirmed the stalling and electrical instability. Despite replacing the crankshaft sensor and both batteries, the sudden loss of power in traffic persists. Shops have stated the issue is a manufacturer-level failure they cannot fix. Has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others? It has been inspected by independent service centers. The manufacturer has not inspected it yet, as it is extremely hard to duplicate unless it is driven for a certain time at certain temperatures. Were there any warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear? The failure is temperature-dependent, occurring almost exclusively when ambient temperatures reach 71°F or higher. When the failure happens, the dashboard displays flashes the drive sign(limp mode). There are no other lights or anything triggered to display what the issue is related to. These symptoms began roughly one year ago, and has returned daily now that it is getting hot again.Read more

I was at the exit of a highway and could not even put the car in neutral, so my safety was significantly at risk.

My car was stuck in drive. It would not shift into park. My father had to use the emergency switch under the hood to put it in park. A local dealership was contacted and parts have been ordered to fix the problem. The car has not been inspected. There were no warnings. I did not receive a recall notice in the mail.

While driving, the vehicle experiences intermittent electrical malfunctions affecting multiple systems. The door locks cycle repeatedly, windows roll down on their own, and when attempting to roll the windows back up, they immediately roll back down. The dashboard lights flicker, become extremely bright, and at times go out completely. The central display (including Apple CarPlay) also shuts off e
... ntirely. Multiple warning alerts appear, including emergency brake warnings. These failures occur while the vehicle is in motion and create a safety risk due to loss of system visibility, inability to control vehicle functions, and unexpected vehicle behavior. The vehicle was initially taken to an independent repair shop due to these issues, where I was informed of Recall 97GF (wiring harness issue), which is associated with the same electrical failures. The vehicle was then taken to a dealership for recall service. The dealership retained the vehicle for approximately one week and advised that the repair resolved the issue. The vehicle operated normally for approximately three weeks following the repair. However, on or about [XXX], the same electrical issues reoccurred. The vehicle was returned to the dealership on February 20th, where it remained in service for over 45 days. Despite multiple repair attempts and extended time in service, the issue was not resolved and continues to occur. The dealership has indicated that the recall procedure was completed, but the original condition persists. The issue was also escalated directly to Volkswagen of America through a customer care case. The manufacturer reviewed the situation and stated that the recall procedure had been completed and the condition was no longer considered related to the recall. The case was subsequently closed without resolution, and the vehicle continues to experience the same electrical failures. I took my car in because the electric parking brake warning appeared while driving. I also looked it up and saw many others were having this issue. So basically Honda charged me for something that’s an ongoing Honda issue and passed it off as a glitch and cleared the codes. Clearly Honda needs to recall the 2023 accord because this isn’t safe and clearing the code isn’t taking care of the pr
... oblem. Furthermore charging me for diagnosing this is completely wrong knowing this is not a problem only I am having. Honda needs a recall before there are serious accidents.Read more

I bought a CPO lexus 2025 RX 350 in Jan 9, 2026. This car was lightly used in less than 3 months and right now it's around 7685 mileage. However, just with 3 months I purchased this car, the A/C stops cooling and the dealership said this is due to the condenser was damaged by small road stones where the small road stones can easily pass through the grille. - We have noticed that there are multiple
... reports of Lexus/Toyota SUVs with condensers easily punctured by normal road debris. - Dealers acknowledge it as a common pattern. - Loss of A/C can affect defogging/visibility and is risky in extremely hot weather, e.g. causing hard breathing, etc for driver and passengers in the car. This issue needs to be fixed by Lexus/Toyota.Read more
