I wanted to report the failure of my rear camera and/or the electrical circuit that is tied to it. It's my understanding that Hyundai has issued multiple recalls across different years/vehicles for issues in this area. My 2019 Sonata is NOT included in those current recalls. I was without my vehicle for a week and was charged over $1600 to repair. The issue was diagnosed and repaired by an ind
... ependent mechanic. When they system failed numerous error lights/warning went off and continued to cycle thru (plus beeping). I wanted to report this in hopes of continued pressure on Hyundai to add this model/year to their recalls.Read more

I started seeing smoke coming out of the front and opened my hood to find a flame burning to the lower right-hand si

I just did a software update for my 2025 M3 and all settings were lost. Most of this is a customer inconvenience, but brake auto hold was turned off so imagine my surprise when I took my foot off the brake and my car rolled forward. Thankfully I was paying attention or there could have been an accident. I rely on auto hold to keep my car stopped even when my foot is off the brake.

It changes what is showing on the screen, what is playing from the speakers, etc. The system acts like a ghost is touching it. It gets worse with each passing day, making the system almost completely unusable. Sometimes the audio input will cycle between am/fm/bluetooth several times in a minute. While driving my KIA Optima on the interstate the rear subframe suffered catastrophic structural failure, resulting in the steering wheel going out of alignment, the rear passenger side wheel tilting with the bottom of the tire being far out compared to the top. This resulted in the rear of the vehicle swaying side to side and being difficult to maintain in a straight path. This vehicle was prev
... iously serviced under KIA Campaign SC141 (internal subframe corrosion) at Griffin KIA on April 27, 2017. Despite this safety remedy being performed the subframe rotted through and snapped. This is a remedy failure. The anti-corrosion was applied by the manufacturer failed to prevent the exact structural failure it was designed to mitigate. I have physical evidence (Repair Order #92144) proving the remedy was performed and photographic/video evidence of the subsequent structural break. The manufacturer (KIA) has denied assistance, claiming the failure is "unrelated" to the corrosion campaign despite the part being the exact component covered by the campaign." SC141 involved the inject of wax into the metal components of the subframe of the vehicle and was KIA's response to the NHSTA's concerns about the metal components of their vehicles being unable to withstand salt in the Rust Belt states. The campaign only was for the vehicles in the rust belt states. KIA was very aware this was a safety issue and attempted to avoid a recall by issuing this campaign. The campaign failed and as a result my life was put at risk. I asked KIA for a good will repair of the rusted subframe but they refuse indicating the believe the part that clearly broke due to rust is unrelated to the safety campaign. Several of their employees stated it was very clear the part broke due to rust with one indicating he had a list of rusted parts needing replaced. I'd like the NHTSA to review this failed campaign and ensure the safety of all vehicles relying on this failed safety measure.Read more

This is a follow up to the above referenced case #XXX This has been reported to the Attorney General’s Office and they have requested that I send along the following information to your office. I purchased a 2022 Kia Telluride approximately 2 years ago. At the time, I also purchased a 100,000 mile extended warranty from KIA. The cost was $3,200. Since owning the vehicle, I have had a problem
... with the heating system. I contacted the Balise KIA dealership, West Springfield, MA where the car was purchased to have the heating system checked out. It is still not working correctly! The most recent attempt by KIA to fix the heat was 2/2/26 and was not successful. KIA stated “there is no fix”. Please refer to invoice #XXX. Driving a car with little or no heat is unacceptable. I was told that if there ever was a fix, the warranty would cover it. I was also charged a diagnostic fee of $159.95 which I paid, but did not agree with. This fee is charged if a customer decides against having the work done, which I agree with, but in this case, I wanted the work done, but they couldn’t do the work because there is no fix. If there was a fix, the warranty would have covered it. I feel this problem greatly reduces the value of this vehicle and some kind of resolution should be reached. I am [XXX] old and driving a vehicle that has little or no heat is not only uncomfortable, but unhealthy. I’ve been paying close attention to the heat when I’m in the car. It seems to work ok above 30 degrees, but below 30 degrees it doesn’t work properly. Clonninger Auto Body Shop 511 Jake Alexander Blvd S Salisbury NC 28147 The 2024 Bronco Sport owned by Megan Michaels was presented to our service department with a customer concern of a rattling noise coming from the rear of the vehicle, along with abnormal tire wear on the rear tires. Our Master Technician performed a road test and verified a clunking/rattling noise originating from the left re
... ar of the vehicle. The vehicle was then lifted, and a comprehensive inspection of the rear suspension system was completed. During inspection, it was determined that the left rear lower control arm mounting point at the body has structurally failed. The mounting location where the control arm attaches to the body has separated from the vehicle’s floor structure, allowing the control arm to shift from its proper position into the body cavity where it should normally be securely supported. This condition has caused: Excessive movement within the rear suspension system The confirmed clunking/rattling noise Abnormal rear tire wear due to improper alignment and instability Cause of Failure: The failure is the result of a structural separation of the lower control arm mounting point from the vehicle’s body. This is a failure of the vehicle’s structural floor assembly and is not related to a replaceable suspension component. Required Repair: Due to the extent of the structural damage, the vehicle will require replacement of the complete floor pan assembly in order to restore proper mounting integrity of the suspension system and ensure safe vehicle operation. If you have any questions or require additional documentation, please contact our service department directly.Read more

I am reporting a recurring and dangerous failure of the infotainment system and electrical control in my vehicle. The following issues occur intermittently but frequently: Safety Camera Failure: The center display screen often goes black, causing the backup camera and side-view cameras to fail completely. This occurs while the vehicle is in reverse, creating a significant blind-spot hazard and ri
... sk of collision. I specifically visited the dealership in early June 2025 to inquire about this issue—and I have video evidence to prove it—yet the electronic fault "magically disappeared" (an intermittent issue) when the vehicle was inspected on-site. Despite this, the dealership still charged me a $300 diagnostic fee. Total System Freeze: The GPS navigation, audio system, and all center console controls frequently stop responding or shut down entirely while driving, causing significant driver distraction. Power Management Defect: Most critically, the infotainment system and audio often fail to shut off even after the engine is turned off and the vehicle is locked. This parasitic draw continues until the 12V battery is completely drained, leaving the vehicle stranded and potentially creating an electrical fire hazard. On 03/20/2026, the infotainment system failed to shut down after the engine was turned off, which completely drained the battery. I had to call AAA for roadside assistance to tow/jump-start the vehicle to the dealership. I have a video recording of the system staying powered on while the vehicle was off. Furthermore, I just replaced the 12V battery with a brand new one in February 2026, confirming that this is a parasitic draw caused by a vehicle defect and not a faulty battery. I am unable to upload videos here, but I reserve the right to present them.Read more

I am reporting a serious and ongoing safety issue involving my 2023 Hyundai Palisade that is currently unresolved and directly impacts the safety of my children and passengers. My vehicle is subject to an open safety recall (Recall 292 – ejection mitigation) for which there is currently no available remedy. In addition to this unresolved recall, I am experiencing an active failure of the seatbe
... lt system. The seatbelts do not consistently latch and/or will not remain securely latched, creating an immediate risk to occupants. Replacement seatbelt components were ordered in January, and I have been informed they are on backorder with no estimated timeline for repair. As of today, the issue remains unresolved. This situation presents a severe safety concern. The vehicle has compromised occupant protection systems, including both restraint failure (seatbelts) and an open recall involving ejection mitigation. I regularly transport children in this vehicle and cannot rely on the safety systems to function properly. I have contacted Hyundai Motor America and opened a case to resolve this issue. However, Hyundai has not provided a repair, has not provided a safe alternative vehicle, and has not offered a viable solution. I was offered rental reimbursement, but I am unable to pay out of pocket for a rental vehicle upfront, and the reimbursement limit does not cover a comparable vehicle suitable for transporting my family. As a result, I am being left with no reasonable or safe option: either continue operating a vehicle with known safety defects or assume financial burden that I cannot afford in order to obtain temporary transportation. I am requesting that this issue be investigated, including: * The delay in remedy for Recall 292 * The failure and parts shortage related to seatbelt systems * The lack of manufacturer support for consumers facing active safety risks This vehicle is not safe for normal use under current conditions.Read more

My sunroof glass randomly exploded! Yes, my safety and others safety was threatened! Glass shards would have hit my face had my sunshade not been closed! Glass shards flew off the back of my vehicles and there was another vehicle driving in the same lane behind me. The road was smooth and there were no potholes present. My car was driving smoothly, no warnings of any sort alerted me to any issue
... s. As I was driving, I suddenly heard a VERY LOUD “pow!” kind of noise from the top of my car. It was incredibly loud, and sounded like a gunshot or a firework on the roof of my vehicle. I was able to pull over to inspect my car, and I immediately saw the damage to my sunroof. The rest of my car stayed perfectly intact, and there was no rock present, no foreign debris, and no mark on my interior sliding sunshade (indicating nothing hit my sunroof glass to shatter it). My interior sliding sunshade was closed at the time this incident occurred, as I am positive I would have experienced an injury to my face had it been open! The explosion from my glass was violent, as it did not simply crack my glass, but instead it blew up leaving shards of glass on top of the interior sliding sunshade – those shards would have hit my face and body when the explosion happened. I have photos of the damage and I also have two dash cams in my car – one of the cams records video footage of the front view of my vehicle, and the other camera records video footage of the back view from my vehicle. The video footage I have recorded also supports my claim fully, and demonstrates that no objects were “kicked up” and hit my car, and the back view shows the shards of glass flying off of my car during the explosion. You can also hear the loud “POP!” in the video footage I have, and it is very clear when this happened. A certified Honda dealership has my car at their shop right now. Description: Subject: Formal Warranty Claim – Spontaneous Glass Breakage and Request for Immediate Assistance Serious and unexpected failure involving my vehicle, a 2025 Honda Odyssey Elite (VIN: [XXX] ), currently with approximately 26,000 miles. On April 19, 2026, I submitted an initial complaint to Honda concerning what appears to be a spontaneous breakage of the rear side (fixed quarter) gl
... ass. The vehicle was parked overnight in driveway when the glass shattered without any known impact, external force, or evidence of vandalism. The fracture pattern is consistent with spontaneous tempered glass failure originating from the edge, which raises concerns of a potential manufacturing defect or internal stress within the material. On April 20, 2026, I presented the vehicle in person at my local Honda dealership for inspection and assistance. To date, no action has been taken, nor has any resolution been provided. This lack of response is unacceptable given the safety implications. Due to safety concerns, the vehicle is currently not in use and remains parked. I am unwilling to operate the vehicle in its present condition out of concern for further damage or risk. As a result, I am experiencing a significant disruption to my daily activities and mobility. Accordingly, I respectfully request the following: 1. Immediate review and approval of this issue under Honda’s warranty as a case of spontaneous glass breakage. 2. Prompt authorization for repair or replacement of the damaged glass at no cost to me. I have photographic documentation available. Supplemental to my complaint filed April 18, 2026 regarding Dick's Hillsboro Hyundai (dealer code OR035). The dealership's Service Manager (Robin Farr) provided me with an HMA training report from Hyundai's internal system. Every staff member is listed at "Certified": the baseline tier. No one is above this level. No EV/HEV-specific certification is indicated for any individual. Despite this, th
... e dealership confirmed by phone they could service a 2019 Ioniq PHEV, then performed ICCU/DC-DC converter diagnostics (a hybrid electrical system procedure) and a 12V battery installation in the boot area adjacent to high-voltage components. The vehicle was returned with the hold-down bracket unsecured and retaining bolts missing which was only discovered when my car was assessed by a second Hyundai dealership after I had driven a significant distance. Hyundai's own shop manuals state: "Never allow technician to work on high voltage systems who are not wearing personal protective equipment." Hyundai TSBs for hybrid repairs require insulating gloves rated at 1000V AC/1500V DC. HMA's CPO form (HMACPO0601) requires an "EV/HEV Inspection certified technician" for hybrid-specific work. The ASE xEV Safety Standards state employers "SHALL verify" technician ability to work on HV systems. The dealership's website also claims its service department includes "Master technicians." The HMA training report shows no staff at that level. The Ioniq PHEV boot area contains HV wiring (DC 240V-360V). A loose metal bracket contacting terminals or HV wiring could cause a short circuit, arc, or fire — the type of hazard EV/HEV training exists to prevent.Read more

My 2019 GMC Acadia suffered a "major trans fluid leak" specifically from the transmission accumulator feed pipe. Because of this leak, the transmission lost its necessary hydraulic pressure, leading to "internal damage". This is why I experienced harsh shifts and a complete "missing 3rd gear". This exact part and failure mode are the center of NHTSA Recall 20V668. The recall warns that missing bol

have a 2017 Kia Sportage and there is something unusual in the airbag compartment on the console in front of the front passenger seat. Although there are no apparent signs of damage or impact, it seems that the airbag has been partially deployed. After seeking input from multiple individuals, they all agreed that this is probably a manufacturing defect. Unfortunately, when I contacted Kia, they l

When braking, the vehicle experiences a system failure. There is a loud impact, the dashboard shuts down, warning lights activate all gauges go to the left, and the vehicle loses power and enters a reduced speed mode before recovering. This has been ongoing and creates a dangerous driving condition. The dealership has had the vehicle over four months and has not diagnosed or repaired the issue.
... Please Note: I have attached the invoice sent to me on April 17, 2026, via email. The information in section 3 had been changed while I was sitting there. It originally state, engine repair needed. It said absolutely nothing about the reason I was there, which was what I am now describing. The description in section 3, has been worded incorrectly. It states I said, when coming to a stop, but it is not only when coming to a stop, but even if I am in flowing traffic and have to touch my brakes to slow down at any given time, there is a loud thump sound and a jolt, all of the dash lights come on, all the gauges go to the left, the warning lights are on and it has to sit there, not for a few seconds, but until those lights go back off and then it will move very slowly, until it decides to gain power. You have no warnings as to when it will happen or when the car will regain speed when it does happen. I gave pictures of the dash on April 17, 2026, as well and these pictures have the date December 31, 2025, on them. As I was having the issue while driving it to the dealership for repair. The invoice mentions [XXX] . I do not know her and have never met her. I only spoke with a man. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)Read more
