We have a 2020 Ford Explorer Limited and the sunshade for the sunroof has come off the tracks or something has broken that keeps the sunshade from operating correctly. When the sunshade is open, it hangs down blocking my view of the back window. This seems to be a problem for many people with this model car. The dealership has looked at this and quoted me $1500 for repair.

I am filing a formal safety complaint regarding my Mercedes-Benz Metris serviced at Mercedes-Benz Coconut Creek (Florida) under Recall VS2LAS561 – 9789VMCRC (Customer Service Case #20781216). On February 12th, I delivered the vehicle for recall service. It was returned on February 23rd without the recall properly completed. Invoice no. 328897 – tag T9514 lists replacement of four Continental
... 235/55 R17 tires and installation of four PRS sensor repair kits. These items were not installed. The tires were placed in the trunk, and only three used sensors are present; one wheel has no sensor. Additionally, the dealership provided 235/55 R17 tires, while the vehicle is homologated for 225/55 R17. Supplying non-approved tire sizes represents a safety concern. Since purchase (from the same dealership), I have reported tire pressure irregularities and abnormal lateral tire wear. During the most recent service, no tire rotation was performed despite documented uneven wear. Two weeks prior to the recall visit, I experienced a highway tire blowout while traveling with my family. When attempting to install the spare tire, I discovered the wheel lock removal key had been removed during a prior Mercedes service and not returned. I was unable to change the tire and required roadside assistance. The lug bolts had to be forcibly removed by an external shop, potentially damaging wheel components. The dealership has not properly resolved these safety-related issues. I do not feel safe operating this vehicle under current conditions. I request investigation into: • Recall execution compliance • Tire size compliance with vehicle specifications • Improper documentation of uninstalled parts • Removal of required emergency equipment (wheel lock key) These issues present potential safety risks to vehicle occupants and other road users. Thanks.Read more

During an extreme cold event in Interior Alaska (–44°F), the vehicle experienced a sudden emissions‑system failure that triggered an EPA‑mandated Limp Mode, limiting the vehicle to 5 MPH on high‑speed highways. This created an immediate life‑safety hazard because it was impossible to maintain a safe speed or exit the roadway due to snow berms. Prior to the failure, the vehicle displayed
... “Service Emission System” warnings and multiple DTCs related to the reductant heaters and sensors. A dealership technician later confirmed a “burnt pin” at the reductant pump connector, consistent with thermal‑electrical overload. This failure mode matches GM’s TSB 21‑NA‑006, describing connector overheating in cold climates. After the repair, the vehicle continued to exhibit safety‑critical symptoms, including harsh downshifts, delayed engagement, and jerking during deceleration, consistent with Recall 26V083000 (rear‑wheel lock‑up risk). The vehicle also continues to emit an electrical burning odor in cold temperatures, consistent with Recall N192206310 (block‑heater fire risk). The only GM dealership in the region issued a “Termination of Business Relationship,” preventing access to all recall and warranty repairs. This has created a 321‑mile “Service Desert,” making it impossible to obtain federally mandated recall remedies. The vehicle remains unsafe to operate due to unresolved transmission, electrical, and propulsion issues.Read more

The smell is present while the vehicle is parked (I had to move it out of the garag
... e) and after driving. No visible fuel leaks or puddles have been observed under the vehicle. Safety Risk: Gasoline fumes create a potential fire hazard and pose a risk of accident. The odor is now also noticeable inside the vehicle, which increases concern for occupant safety. Confirmation by Service Centers: The problem has been reproduced and confirmed by independent service centers. Two separate auto mechanic shops inspected the vehicle and both confirmed smelling gasoline, but neither could identify the source of the odor or any mechanical defect. Inspections by Others: The vehicle has been inspected by two independent mechanics only. It has not yet been inspected by the manufacturer, police, or insurance representatives. Warning Lamps or Symptoms: No warning lights or dashboard messages have appeared. The only symptom is a persistent gasoline odor. I purchased this vehicle on September 8, 2025, from Antwerpen Hyundai of Clarksville. Since purchase, the vehicle has had persistent problems that substantially impair its use and market value. ... air into the cabin. This issue has been ongoing and unresolved despite service visits. Issue 2: Intermittent Screeching/Scratching Noise from Dash/Steering Column Area On October 4, 2025, we began hearing an intermittent screeching or scratching sound from the front dashboard/steering column area. The vehicle has been serviced 3 times at 2 dealerships: November 10–14, 2025 – Antwerpen Hyundai Clarksville: Technician documented that the sound was replicated on two separate occasions and attempted two repair solutions. We were told the issue was resolved. The sound returned the same day during the drive home. December 9-16, 2025 – Hyundai of Dundalk: Service record indicated “fittings greased.” No detailed explanation provided. Personnel who handled the vehicle were no longer employed at pickup. The noise continued. January 20 – February 5, 2026 –Antwerpen Hyundai Clarksville: Service manager drove vehicle approximately 55 miles each way (100+ miles total) attempting to replicate the sound but reported being unable to do so. When picking up the vehicle, the noise was present again. Audio recordings of the sound were provided to the dealership multiple times. The service manager later indicated he might use electronic diagnostic equipment but did not follow up further. Current Condition: The screeching/scratching noise continues intermittently. While not constant, it is recurring and has persisted since October 2025. Mazda representatives have verbally acknowledged that premature tire wear is a known issue with this model, reportedly related to the vehicle’s weight and design, yet no corrective action, repair, or warranty assistance has been offered. This defect creates an unexpected financial burden and raises safety concerns for a family vehicle used daily to transport children. Based on current wear, this issue will require tire replacement on a yearly basis, which is unreasonable for a high-purchase-price vehicle of this class. I am submitting a formal safety complaint regarding a severe design defect in the 3.5L V6 engine of my 2013 Ford Explorer. The vehicle is equipped with an internal, chain-driven water pump that is currently failing at 100000 miles, as evidenced by coolant actively draining from the factory weep hole. Because this pump is located inside the engine block and driven by the timing chain, a complete s
... eal failure dumps engine coolant directly into the oil pan. This is a critical safety hazard. When the coolant and oil mix, it destroys the engine bearings and causes the engine to completely seize without warning. If this sudden engine seizure occurs while driving at highway speeds, it results in an immediate and total loss of motive power, power steering, and power brakes. This defect creates an extreme crash hazard for the occupants of the vehicle and other drivers on the road. The internal weep hole provides virtually no dashboard warning or indicator to the driver before this catastrophic failure occurs. I am requesting that the NHTSA investigate this known, dangerous design flaw to force a mandatory safety recall before this sudden loss of vehicle control causes severe injuries or fatalities.Read more

The component that failed was the Integrated Charging Control Unit (ICCU). This component has failed twice within the past ten months. The failed components are not available for inspection, as they were replaced during prior service repairs. The failure created a significant safety risk because it resulted in a sudden loss of normal vehicle function without advance warning during operation. This
... placed both myself and others on the road at risk, as the vehicle could become disabled unexpectedly while being driven. The issue has been inspected and confirmed by dealer-authorized mechanics following each occurrence. There were no earlier symptoms prior to the moment of failure. Warning messages related to the vehicle’s electrical system appeared only at the time the malfunction occurred. At the time of each incident, the failure occurred without advance warning during operation. Failures of the ICCU are believed to occur due to electrical overcurrent and thermal stress damaging internal power components during high-voltage to low-voltage conversion. When these internal components fail, the system may no longer maintain the 12V electrical supply, which can lead to loss of vehicle function or sudden loss of motive power during operation. Software updates have been issued to address the issue, but failures have continued to occur.Read more

Incident date: Feb 16, 2026
Incident Date: October 26, 2025 Summary: On October 26, 2025, while merging onto a highway at high speed, the vehicle experienced a sudden and total electronic safety system failure. Without driver input, the Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist (FCA) system engaged the brakes (phantom braking), causing a dangerous, unprompted deceleration in active traffic. Simultaneously, the Electric Power Steer
... ing (EPS) assist failed, making the steering wheel extremely heavy and difficult to maneuver while trying to merge. Dashboard Alerts: The instrument cluster displayed a "Check Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist system" message, and the following warning lights illuminated: Master Warning, ABS, Traction Control (ESC), and Forward Safety. Attempted Remediation: I pulled the vehicle over and let it cool down for over an hour, but the warning lights and system failures persisted upon restarting. Per manufacturer-recommended troubleshooting found online, I thoroughly cleaned all exterior sensors and was forced to manually disable the collision-avoidance and alert systems via the vehicle's computer settings just to be able to drive the car home safely. Current Safety Concern: Since this event, the vehicle has exhibited increased skidding and inconsistent traction during normal driving conditions. This instability occurs on any road at any time, specifically when performing routine turning maneuvers, and is not limited to winter conditions. This suggests a deeper mechanical or software failure within the ABS/ESC/AWD control modules that cannot be resolved by the driver. This VIN currently shows no active recalls, but the symptoms match the known defects in the SC275 and SC336 campaigns exactly.Read more

Safety Risk: The loose and eroded lower control arms create a significant risk of: •Loss of steering control •Suspension instability •Increased likelihood of component failure •Potential crash risk at highway speeds There were no warning lights related to suspension failure prior to discovery. The defect was identified during independent inspection rather than through vehicle alerts. Confirmation: The condition was observed and documented by an independent service center. The manufacturer has not yet conducted a formal inspection beyond routine service appointments. No crash has occurred to date, but the condition poses a clear safety risk.
