Component or System: The brake system, specifically what appears to be a false ABS activation or IEB (Integrated Electronic Brake) system malfunction. The component is available for inspection upon request. Safety Risk: While braking at speeds between 25-40 mph, typically on dry pavement and more frequently on downhill grades, the brake pedal exhibits a chugging sensation, erratic stopping behavio
... r, and pedal softening consistent with unintended ABS activation or IEB malfunction. This occurs on dry roads where ABS activation is neither warranted nor expected, creating unpredictable braking response and extended stopping distances. The defect has occurred 24 documented times since [XXX], and existed prior to that date. Dealer Confirmation: Yes. During a ride-along at Edmond Hyundai on [XXX], a technician directly witnessed and confirmed the occurrence. Despite this confirmation, it was not documented on the repair order. Two prior repair attempts returned cannot-reproduce results: March 2, 2026 at Bob Howard Hyundai and March 10, 2026 at Edmond Hyundai. Additional Repair/Inspection Attempts: On April 7, 2026, Norman Hyundai opened and closed a repair order without the consumer's knowledge and refused to provide a copy despite an explicit request. On May 23, 2026, a scheduled appointment at Bob Howard Hyundai was missed; a reschedule request was subsequently ignored by the dealership. HMA Case No. [XXX] is active. Warning Lamps or Prior Symptoms: No warning lamps have illuminated. The defect presents exclusively as a physical sensation—pedal/brake chugging, softening, and erratic stopping during normal dry-pavement braking. The issue has been present since delivery on [XXX]. As I was driving, I heard a sliding sound and something bumping every time I braked. It was hard to tell where it was coming from, but It sounded like it was above the sunroof shade. When I stopped, I pushed the open button to open the shade and a large metal piece that goes between the sunroof glass pieces came crashing down. At the same time, the shade unhooked and snapped back into the headl
... iner, making a hole in the liner and an incredibly loud noise. If my pets or a passenger were in the back seat, they definitely would have been hit by the metal piece and possibly the shade. The noise itself could have caused a crash had I been driving. There was no warning about this, and when I called the dealer, they said they hadn't heard of it. However, online, there are significant reports of this metal piece coming off in the Ford Escape, especially in the heat. It is only held on by double sided tape.Read more

1. Component/System: HVAC evaporator core. Total loss of climate control. Vehicle is a 2018 model. Prior to this, it had the known AC condenser defect covered under TSB 19-091. The condenser was repaired under warranty, but the AC loop continued to have underlying issues. Failed evaporator available for inspection. For the 2018 Honda Civic specifically, there are over 600+ total consumer complaint
... s filed with the NHTSA, and the overwhelming majority are dedicated exclusively to the failing air conditioning system. 2. Safety Risk: Immediate safety hazard from extreme environmental exposure. In regional desert temperatures exceeding 115°F-118°F, the complete loss of cabin cooling creates a severe risk of heat exhaustion, dehydration, and heat-induced physical impairment for the driver while operating the vehicle on public roads. Additionally, during high humidity, the system emits a chemical-smelling mist/vapor from the vents causing an acute burning sensation in the driver’s eyes. 3. Reproduced/Confirmed: Yes. Right Honda (Scottsdale, AZ) inspected the vehicle and confirmed the evaporator leak on 07/11/2025. I have also observed the chemical mist/vapor emission, which was corroborated by a witness while driving in California. 4. Inspected by Others: Reviewed by Right Honda service department. Escalated to American Honda Motor Co., Inc. (Case #16391364). Despite 5 years of ownership and previous failures in the same AC loop, the manufacturer refuses to cover the repair of this systemic defect. 5. Warning Lamps/Symptoms: No dashboard warning lamps. Initial symptoms began at ~59,857 miles with a gradual decline in AC performance, degrading to total loss of cooling at idle. Most recently, during high humidity, the system began emitting a chemical-smelling mist from the air vents, which causes a burning sensation in the eyes upon contact.Read more

The rear air conditioning refrigerant lines on a 2019 Toyota Highlander SE failed due to excessive rust/corrosion, causing the A/C system to leak refrigerant and stop holding a charge. The failure affected the rear A/C lines that run to the rear of the vehicle. The problem was first diagnosed by an independent repair shop and then confirmed by a Toyota dealer. The Toyota dealer documented that th
... e rear A/C lines were leaking due to excessive rust/corrosion. The dealer recommended replacing the rear A/C lines/cooling lines as a set, evacuating and recharging the A/C system, adding dye, and checking system operation. The repair was completed by the Toyota dealer but not covered or reimbursed. The vehicle/component was inspected by an independent service center and by a Toyota dealer. Toyota corporate customer support was also informed of the dealer diagnosis. The failed component may no longer be available for inspection because the repair has been completed, but repair records, dealer diagnosis, invoice, and related documentation are available. Safety concern: The A/C system failure can affect occupant safety and visibility because air conditioning is used for windshield defogging/defrosting and cabin humidity control. Loss of A/C can reduce the ability to clear the windshield in humid or rainy conditions. It can also create a risk to rear passengers, including children, during hot weather because the rear A/C system is no longer functioning as designed. The failure also involved leaking refrigerant from corroded lines. Toyota will not accept that this is a premature and dangerous parts failure. There were no warning lamps or dashboard messages before the failure. The symptom was that the A/C stopped cooling and would not hold refrigerant. The cause was later confirmed, by Toyota, as leaking rear A/C lines due to excessive rust/corrosion. Toyota has refused goodwill repair even after NUMEROUS persons have reported the same issue online.Read more

I own a 2017 Subaru Forester with approximately 55,324 miles. The vehicle has experienced repeated rear wheel bearing failures at relatively low mileage. On October 1, 2024, at 48,877 miles, the passenger-side rear wheel hub assembly, including the wheel bearing, was replaced by a Subaru dealership. Subaru provided goodwill assistance for that repair. At approximately 55,324 miles, both rear whe
... el bearings were diagnosed as failed and required replacement. The failure was confirmed by a Subaru dealer and an independent repair facility. Manufacturer was contacted regarding assistance but declined coverage support. Consequently this most recent repair was performed by independent repair shop. Prior to replacement, the vehicle exhibited increasing humming, roaring, and grinding noises from the rear, which worsened with vehicle speed. No warning lights were illuminated. I am concerned about repeated premature rear wheel bearing failures and the potential safety risk associated with wheel bearing deterioration, including loss of wheel stability and vehicle control if the condition progresses while driving.Read more

CATASTROPHIC SAFETY COMPONENT FAILURE AND INCIDENT.The Antilock Brake System (ABS) Hydraulic / Electronic Control Module suffered an immediate, internal electronic failure, triggering active diagnostic trouble code C2200. ... aused a severe, life threatening incident on a high speed highway in TEXAS. While driving with my children inside the vehicle, the brakes failed to respond normally during an essential braking event, resulting in a near-miss collision and nearly causing our JEEP to roll over due to the sudden loss of electronic stability and traction controls August 2024. The lack of basic safety infrastructure makes this vehicle completely unsafe to operate, posing an extreme risk to my family and other drivers on the road. The component failure and active code C2200 were officially inspected, reproduced, and confirmed by a factory authorized Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram dealership workshop. However, the manufacturer (Chrysler/Mopar) has placed this critical safety component on an indefinite, long term engineering backlog. The dealership parts department formally verified a national backlog of over 436 unfilled consumer orders for this exact part, stating that many safety compromised owners have been left stranded without a repair for 1 to 2 years! Mind you I immediately called JEEP customer care August 2024 and I am still dealing with them till today! The manufacturer is failing to provide safety critical parts within a reasonable timeframe, forcing consumers like my partner and I to choose between operating a vehicle with a severely compromised braking system or losing our primary livelihood transportation. This massive supply chain breakdown constitutes an ongoing, severe public safety hazard that requires immediate federal investigation and a mandatory safety recall!! What are our rights?Read more

I am filing a complaint regarding a safety recall on my 2016 Ford Explorer that remains unrepaired despite repeated attempts to have it fixed. I purchased this vehicle from a dealership in 2024. At the time of purchase, the dealership did not disclose any outstanding safety recalls. Within a few weeks of purchasing the vehicle, I noticed the exterior trim panels were loose and beginning to separa
... te from the vehicle. I returned to the dealership, where I was told that replacement parts were not yet available but should be available soon. Ford’s recall notice stated that parts were anticipated to be available toward the latter half of 2024. However, that representation has proven inaccurate. I have now been waiting more than two years for this safety recall to be repaired. During that time, I have contacted the dealership regularly, often weekly, seeking updates and a resolution. No repair has been offered, and no meaningful timeline has been provided. The unrepaired condition has created significant safety hazards. Because of the loose trim panels, my windshield frequently fogs on the inside, making it extremely difficult or impossible to properly defrost during cold weather. This severely limits visibility while driving. I have experienced multiple near-collisions while transporting my children because I could not adequately clear the windshield. More recently, the situation escalated when a trim panel from the driver’s side door detached while I was driving. The panel flew off the vehicle and struck my daughter in the face while she was seated in the rear seat with the window down. Fortunately, her injuries were not more severe, but the incident demonstrates the serious danger posed by this unresolved recall. As a single mother of four children, I rely on this vehicle for daily transportation and cannot simply replace it. I have made every reasonable effort to obtain the recall repair, yet I continue to drive a vehicle with a known safety defect that has alreaRead more

Incident date: May 22, 2026
The vehicle has experienced multiple sudden and complete losses of power without warning, creating a serious safety hazard. On May 22, 2026, while driving toward a parking lot exit, the engine abruptly shut off and all electrical systems powered down. After approximately five minutes, the vehicle restarted and I was able to leave. The failed component is UNKNOWN, and the vehicle is available for i
... nspection. This condition puts me and others at risk because the vehicle can lose all power unexpectedly while in motion, increasing the risk of a crash due to loss of propulsion and reduced control. The issue has occurred three times and taken to the dealership 3 times: May 22, 2026 – complete shutdown while driving May 27, 2026 – shutdown while reversing; vehicle would not restart and required towing June 10, 2026 – shutdown again immediately when leaving dealership There were no warning lights, messages, or prior symptoms before any failure. The vehicle has been inspected multiple times by a dealership. Each time, they reported no diagnostic trouble codes and no identified cause. The failures have not been reproduced under dealership testing conditions, despite repeated real-world occurrences, including immediately after release from service. No inspections by the manufacturer, police, or insurance representatives have occurred. Cause remains UNKNOWN. Due to the repeated, unpredictable loss of power and inability to diagnose or repair the issue, I believe the vehicle is unsafe to operate.Read more

My husband popped the hood and we saw large blue flames coming out from the transmission or the engine and we notice that transmission fluid started to leak under the vehicle. My husband put the fire out with the fire extinguisher. A police report was made. I contacted the dealership immediately. I contacted my auto insurance agent the next morning. The fire dept. used heat guns to test the heat level in the engine area. Prior to this, I did not have any issues with the vehicle. This complaint is in regards to Safety Recall 272 Component Failure and Vehicle Disabling / SOS System Failure On [XXX], at approximately [XXX] PM, I was driving my Genesis vehicle during rush hour when I heard a loud popping sound. Immediately following the sound, the dashboard displayed a critical warning light stating: "Electrical Charging System Fault — Check Electrical System." Because I wa
... s actively driving in heavy rush-hour traffic, this sudden loss of charging system functionality posed an immediate safety hazard. I pressed the in-vehicle "SOS" button to contact Genesis emergency services. The operator, who identified himself as "Eddie," refused to dispatch a tow truck to assist me. Instead, he offered to read a phone number aloud for me to write down. I explained that I was actively operating a malfunctioning vehicle in heavy traffic and could not safely write down information, but he still refused to call for emergency towing. I managed to safely limp the vehicle back to my residence and subsequently arranged for the local dealership, Genesis of Las Vegas, to tow the vehicle. On Friday, June 5, 2026, the dealership confirmed that the vehicle had suffered a failure of the Integrated Charging Control Unit (ICCU), which also destroyed the 12V battery. They informed me that this failure was directly tied to NHTSA Safety Recall 272 (Integrated Charging Control Unit). While the dealership performed the ICCU remedy, they are currently refusing to release my vehicle unless I pay $500.00 for the replacement of the 12V battery. Because the 12V battery was directly damaged as a consequential result of the recalled ICCU defect, it should be covered under the safety recall remedy and vehicle warranty. As of this reporting, the dealer is holding my vehicle hostage over this fee, and Genesis Motor America has failed to resolve the issue despite a formal complaint being filed with them. When I got out of the car, I saw the entire piece has come off. This has caused my sunroof to malfunction, and it won't close now. I garage my car and barely drive it. I bought it used in Dec. 2021. There was about 4
... 6,000 on it in Dec 2021 and now (June 2026) the mileage is 51,000. Yes, the car is available for inspection. 2) I was on the freeway, didn't see it come off. No cars immediately in front or behind me. 3) There have been many complaints that this has happened, but Mercedes won't fix it and just say our VIN's are not part of the recall. Mercedes has not taken responsibility that this has affected more cars than they are admitting to. Mercedes says my VIN is not on their list too. 2018 Mercedes C 300 4Matic Sedan- 4) I will take to a Mercedes Dealership to get an estimate soon. 5) No warning lights or sounds.Read more

I am reporting an auto dealership and its finance company for contract fraud, electronic profile manipulation, and using illegal repossession threats to cover it up. During my vehicle purchase, the dealership used deceptive bait-and-switch tactics. They altered my final contract numbers without my consent, hid account ledgers, and changed how my down payment was applied. Crucially, they entered f
... alsified financial metrics and manipulated personal tracking data within the electronic underwriting systems and lending networks to force a loan approval that never should have happened. The business records prove the companies have known about this active fraud dispute since March 31st, when I placed a formal cease-and-desist call to management. Instead of stopping collection activities to investigate the fraud, they ignored my notices, hid my payment histories, and completely refused to cooperate. Now, even though these companies are actively being sued in state court for these exact consumer protection violations, they are weaponizing aggressive repossession threats to try and bypass judicial oversight. The dealership sent a physical letter threatening immediate repossession while openly admitting my dispute flags had been active since March 31st. Shortly after, on the exact same day their legal counsel received the court lawsuit papers, the finance company mailed an aggressive notice threatening a live repossession of my vehicle by a strict deadline of July 2nd. They are deliberately using extrajudicial intimidation to seize the physical vehicle and cover their tracks before a state court judge can audit their electronic fraud. I request that NHTSA investigate this dealership and finance company for predatory marketplace practices and falsifying transaction information in electronic auto systems.Read more

What component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request? The vehicle's cellular connectivity becomes 100% non-functioning until head unit reset. This occurs some days after the car is parked in an area without cell coverage and is then driving into cell coverage area, even directly under cell towers. It appears to give up trying to connect when parked out
... of range and never attempts to reconnect. until manually reset. How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? Without in-vehicle connectivity, automated crash alerts / location information is unavailable. There's NO indication there's a problem unless certain information screens are visible, and only then, the indication is the lack of any connectivity signal level bars (a missing very small and dim icon) Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? Yes via live phone assistance with Hyundai bluelink support. They suggested the manual reset and observed the re-establishment of connectivity. Has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others? Not yet. I had the car in for a recall, but the service department said there was nothing they could do until Bluelink provided a fix. There's no fix announced. Were there any warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear? No, just the missing icon if you know where to look on certain screens.Read more

Safety defect involves an extreme structural hazard caused by the improper execution and assembly of components under open Federal Safety Recall Campaign 23V905 (Ford Recall 23S64) on a 2018 Ford EcoSport. The vehicle previously underwent the authorized interim engine replacement mandated by Safety Recall 23S64. Following a recent diagnosis by certified technicians to investigate severe vehicle noi
... se, it was discovered that all but one of the main front engine subframe (cradle) bolts are completely missing from the vehicle. The front subframe must be completely dropped and reinstalled to execute this specific recall's interim repair. The missing hardware is a direct result of critical structural fasteners being left loose or entirely uninstalled during the official recall service. As a direct consequence of the detached subframe shifting dynamically while driving, the vehicle has suffered severe structural and tire damage and tracking misalignment. The vehicle has been officially deemed entirely unroadworthy and unsafe to drive due to an imminent risk of structural collapse or catastrophic steering and control failure. The consumer is currently facing a refusal of accountability regarding this safety failure. The manufacturer's customer service division is classifying this severe hazard as a localized dealership workmanship dispute rather than a critical failure of federal safety recall integrity, leaving an unsafe, recalled vehicle unaddressed and grounding the consumer.Read more
