I own a 2025 Subaru Ascent Limited. At approximately 20,000 miles, one of the original tires (factory-installed) developed a straight split along the tread/shoulder area. The cut was very straight, almost like along a seam, and I could see metal/steel cords exposed through the opening. There was no major impact, curb strike, or pothole event that I’m aware of, and there was no obvious sidewall o

I have photos of the damage and a repair order from the dealer showing the tire replacement. I have also reported this incident to Subaru’s customer advocate department because I am concerned this may be a safety-related tire or manufacturing issue on a relatively new vehicle with low mileage.Read more

I had taken our GMC Sierra 2500 with LT275/R20 Goodyear Wrangler tires into Henderson Chevrolet for maintenance and to have the tires checked. The technician stated that the front tires were showing tread separation. I was shocked because the tires only had around 20,000 miles. The truck is not used for towing and is kept in the garage away from the sun. I asked the technician to double check the
... rear tires for separation and he stated they were fine. A couple of weeks later, I was driving to California and there was a loud bang on the rear driver side. The truck indicated the the tire was losing pressure. I pulled over to the side of the busy road as soon as possible. The entire tread was missing form the tire and when it came off it damaged the wheel well and the rear bumper and taillight. There was a lot of traffic on the highway and not much shoulder it was a pretty scary and unsafe situation I but got the tire changed with the spare. About an hour later the passenger side tire blew up, there was way more damage on this side including bent exhaust and damage to the fender. I had to get roadside assistance to change the tire so I changed both rear tires so i could have a spare. When I took the car back to Henderson Chevrolet they told me this is a common problem they have had 10 in the last 6 months. Boulder Autobody said they had seen 7 in the last 6 months. Henderson Chevrolet sent both tires to Goodyear to be examined and they conveniently lost one of them and stated that the tires were not defective. My brand-new 2025 Honda CR-V Hybrid Sport Touring AWD came equipped from the factory with Bridgestone Ecopia H/L 422 Plus all-season (M+S) tires. These tires exhibit dangerously low traction at very low speeds on normal packed snow and light ice typical on California’s Hwy 80/Tahoe corridor. On Fri Jan 3rd, the vehicle repeatedly lost traction, slid sideways, and struggled to accelerate from a
... stop on mild winter conditions where M+S tires are expected to provide adequate traction—particularly on an AWD SUV. This occurred at speeds under 10 mph on roads where other vehicles with M+S tires had no difficulty. The issue appears to be abnormally poor winter performance that is inconsistent with what is typical for M+S all-season tires. This raises concern about a possible tread compound defect, hard rubber compound, or manufacturing inconsistency with this specific Ecopia batch or production run. California law (Caltrans chain controls) considers AWD vehicles with M+S tires acceptable for winter operation without chains under R1 and often R2 conditions. These tires fail to meet this expected level of basic winter safety, even though they are legally marked M+S. Honda informed me that these tires are “not intended to be driven on snow and require chains,” which contradicts how M+S-rated OEM tires are used statewide and raises concern that the tire may not be performing to federal Mud & Snow design standards. This appears to be a safety defect affecting traction, stopping, and control of the vehicle during normal winter operation. A tire inspection or compound evaluation may be needed.Read more

Yes, tesla Tech in Libertyville IL informed me this is a problem and to read my user manual and double check the load index rating. All of which check out correct and don't sound any alarms. 4. no, only firestone and Tesla inspected the tires. 5. No, no warnings besides the cracks forming and getting bigger in the cold weather. See attached document for complaint. I wanted to express my displeasure with the manner in which the above reference recall was conducted. The timeline left many owners with expensive replacement bills for new tires to replace inadequate tires that were installed as OEM on our vans. The message boards tell a story of frustration for a large group of consumers. As you know the recall was originall
... y made in July of 2022. The notice to dealers went out in September of 2022. Mercedes Benz appeared to really drag their feet on a solution to the issue with the first small number of remedies (219 out of 24,359) in the second quarter of 2024. Remedies did not begin in earnest until the beginning of 2025 almost two and half years after the recall was originally published. As the original ti res were inadequate, I was notified in June of 2023 by your Mercedes-Benz of Pleasanton service center that my tires needed to be replaced at a cost of $1,348. Strange that a dealer would be trying to sell me replacement tires on an item under a recall. I decided in October of 2023 at an odometer reading of only 26,708 to go ahead and replace my tires having given up on your slow roll of the recall remedy. I spent $940 on new tires to replace the inadequate tires. Finally in January of 2025 you notified me that you were prepared to replace my tires if necessary. In April of 2025 at an odometer reading of 34,984 your Mercedes-Benz of Palm Springs service center replaced my "newish" tires with the right size tires. Based on message board activity I think there are many disappointed owners who had a similar experience as evidenced by their comments. I just can't believe a safety recall was left open with no remedy for so long at a great expense and waste. I would ask that you reimburse me for the wasted expenditure of $940 I made in October of 2023 while awaiting your delayed recall solution to make this situation right.Read more

On [XXX], I rented a Class C motorhome from Cruise America at their Duluth, Georgia branch (Reservation #[XXX]). When I picked up the vehicle, the Cruise America employee pointed to a handwritten note taped over the tire pressure warning light on the dashboard that said: “ignore tire sensor.” The note was already in place before I arrived, suggesting that other renters may have used the vehicl
... e in that same unsafe condition. Three days later, while traveling northbound on [XXX] near Memphis, Tennessee, the RV suffered a sudden tire blowout at highway speed. We narrowly avoided a collision while maneuvering to the shoulder. Thankfully, no one was injured, but the incident was extremely dangerous and could easily have resulted in fatalities. Cruise America knowingly rented out a vehicle with an active tire pressure warning covered and concealed, depriving the driver of critical safety information. The company did not repair or document the issue, instead instructing renters to “ignore” the tire warning. This conduct may violate Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard No. 138 (49 C.F.R. § 571.138) and 49 U.S.C. § 30122, which prohibit making safety equipment inoperative or misleading drivers about safety system status. While TPMS sensors can fail naturally, covering the warning light constitutes deliberate concealment and undermines the system’s purpose. I am concerned that Cruise America may be circulating other rental vehicles in similar unsafe condition. Please investigate whether Cruise America, Inc. is in compliance with federal vehicle-safety laws governing TPMS functionality and rental-vehicle maintenance standards. Specifically, whether any branch locations are renting vehicles with disabled, covered, or ignored tire-pressure monitoring systems or other concealed safety warnings. Reported to Cruise America Customer Relations (Case #[XXX]). INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)Read more
