The tire tread on the Cooper 275/50R20 tires was worn down almost completely after 16,000 miles. The tires are the original tires that the vehicle was purchased with and are rated to 50,000 miles. When the dealer serviced the vehicle, they noted that the tires were not safe to drive on due to there being almost no tread left at just 16,000 miles. They also stated that they had seen multiple car
... s with the same Cooper tires that lasted only 10,000-16,000 miles despite being rated to 50,000 miles. They also indicated that Cooper has taken 6+ months to respond to requests for replacement tires under the warranty and vehicle owners have had to go out of pocket to buy replacement tires themselves since the worn out tires are unsafe to drive on and they can't wait 6+ months for a response from the manufacturer with replacement tires. Additionally, they flagged that the tires are dangerous since most vehicle owners don't check their tires after only 10,000-16,000 miles and have no idea that they are driving on tires with little to no tread that could fail at any time. The tires have been saved by the dealership and are available for inspection. Additionally, there is a video documenting the tires while still on the vehicle. These tires should be recalled for defective wear and Cooper held accountable for failing to acknowledge and fix this huge safety issue.Read more

I purchased my car in May 2021. Shortly after purchase, I noticed a "clicking" sound under the car when the car was operating between 15 and 20 MPH. I took the car to the dealer, who couldn't identify what was causing the sound. The dealer subsequently replaced the front axle, but the clicking sound continued, only audible when the car was moving at between 15 and 20 MPH. On June 9, I was driving
... at about 40 MPH on an interstate that had only a few cars on it. I didn't notice any debris or objects in the road, nor did I feel the car hit any debris or objects. Suddenly, I heard a loud "crunching" sound that I mistook for interference from the radio. I turned the radio off and realized the sound was coming from the rear passenger side of the car. I looked at the dashboard and saw the tire pressure light had illuminated. A few seconds later, the triangular danger sign also illuminated. I got off the highway at the next exit and stopped the car as soon as it was safe. The car made a lot of noise as I drove down the exit ramp, and it was difficult to steer, so I knew that the rear tire was flat. I got out of the car and found, to my surprise, that both tires on the passenger side were flat. The rear tire was cracked and ripped apart. The front tire was intact, but completely flat. The car has not been inspected yet, so I don't know what caused both tires to flatten at the same time. If I'd hit something hard enough to flatten both tires, I'd think I would have seen or felt it. My concern is that a defect in the tires related to the mysterious clicking sound that the mechanics could not diagnose caused the tires to blow out without warning at the same time.Read more

On Thursday, April 15, 2021, at approximately 1415, I was traveling east on I-10 in Florida at approximately Mile Marker 130, when I felt my travel trailer start to sway, looked in my passengers side rear-view mirror and noticed tire pieces flying everywhere. I immediately slowed to a stop as I pulled to the shoulder of the road. By the time I pulled to the side of the road the tire had disinteg
... rated, there was nothing left of the tire but the beads, and the wheel was damaged. When the tire blew out, I was on an overpass when the trailer began to sway back and forth. Since it is a single axle trailer it sways more than a tandem axle would. Fortunately, I installed a weight distribution hitch with anti sway. If this had not been the set up, no telling what would have happened, but even with this setup, there was definitely notable sway felt in the drivers seat of a loaded GMC 2500HD crew cab 4X4. The problem has not been evaluated or attempted to be reproduced by any one. Pictures were sent to the insurance company/roadside assistance. There were no previous symptoms prior to the tire blowing out. Having driven big trucks, 18 wheels, most of my life, 40 years at the time of this incident, I understand the importance of tire maintenance and proper inflation. Prior to starting the trip from Longview, TX, tire pressure was checked and it was 80psi, an overnight stop in Vicksburg, MS prior to starting out the morning of the incident, pressures were confirmed cold at 80psi. I always carry an air source with me just in case. And during inspection prior to starting out, there was no visual indication of tire failure, or anywhere along the trip when stops were made, the tires were visually inspected. It's just habit to do a visual inspection of truck and trailer, especially tires at every stop. At the time of this incident, the tires were factory installed new. And had less than 2,000 miles. If needed I can give exact mileage via google maps.Read more

Dear NHTSA, I am filing this complaint to make you aware of gross problems at Tesla. My family and I were stranded for more than 4 days and Tesla did not help us or abide by warranty claims. We had a flat tire. We called Tesla: 1. Tesla is out of stock of loaner wheels 2. They scheduled tire tech to come in 24 hours 3. Tire tech cancelled at the last minute 4. They rescheduled for Saturday 5
... . Another message said can't do Saturday, so it was changed to next week. Chat with the Tesla rep is attached. There is an urgent to create an accountability system at Tesla. The entire company is very poorly managed. I traded in my brand new car and the Tesla rep forgot to take keys from us. The loss of keys probably cost Tesla several thousand dollars. All employees are misbehaving far and wide.Read more
