I am an owner of a 2022 Mercedes Benz. The car is equipped with optional 21" AMG wheels paired with Pirelli P Zero MO-S (Mercedes original equipment) tires. P255/35R21 front and P285/30R21 rear. With only 490 miles on the odometer I experienced a catastrophic failure of the front passenger-side tire after going over what seemed to be an insignificant pothole. While at the servicing dealer I no
... ticed same car as mine with 21" wheels with a blown front driver-side tire and destroyed rim, I even took a picture of it. My service advisor confirmed that this is a very common issue that they see at least once or twice a month. That's in a city with maybe a 100 of these cars in total. "This should be a class action lawsuit" were his exact words. I had to wait over a week to get the car back as there is a nationwide shortage of this particular tire. My service advisor agreed that this also points to a higher than normal rate of failures that creates this shortage. I am an active member of the MBWorld.org forums where Mercedes owners come to discuss their vehicles. There are multiple threads about this very tire and a number of owners that experienced multiple failures, some as many as three times. It is common to have both the front and the rear tire fail after going over the same pothole, or in some instances the front tire failed while the rear developed a bubble and needed to be replaced as well. The only solution that people found was to replace Pirelli tires with Michelin Pilot 4S tires in the same size. I escalated this case to Mercedes-Benz Customer Advocacy and after several days was informed that Mercedes is not accepting responsibility for this faulty equipment and advised to seek resolution with Pirelli. This is clearly unacceptable and is not a matter of expenses or inconvenience. This is a huge safety risk as these tires seem to be either defective or unsuitable for such a heavy vehicle. At high speeds this could lead to fatal accidents.Read more

The tire blew out. We noticed it as we were merging onto I65. It could have happened before then. As we have a tandem axel trailer, it was not catastrophic. We have owned the trailer/tires for 13-14 months and have put around 5000 miles on them via monthly trips. I still have the tire and rim. It could have caused a wreck. “No” to all other questions.

On or about May 2022, and after on 8,000 miles driven, noticed severe "chunking", or tread peeling, on both front tires of my 2020 Genesis G70 purchased October 2020 from Genesis Puerto Rico, located at Plaza Las Americas, San Juan, Puerto Rico. ... icing the defect could have resulted in a blown tire and a potentially serious accident. By the time I noticed the issue, it was already at a relatively severe state, thus the onset of the symptoms is unknown, however likely sometime 2021. I took the car to the dealership. They referred me to a third party tire distributor (Atlantic Tires, Bayamon, Puerto Rico). This third party distributor indicated that approximately 30 different Genesis G70's had recently made warranty claims with the same severe chunking on both front tires. They believe all the tires in that lot purchased for the Genesis G70's have the same manufacturer's defect. The third party tire distributor confirmed this to be a defect of the tire advised me not to drive the vehicle anymore until replacing the tires. This is in San Juan, Puerto Rico, there is only one Genesis dealership on the whole island, thus all the G70's with the defect were sold from that one location. The dealership has also been aware of the defect and has neglected to inform the potentially affected customers and/or report this safety defect to the NHTSA. My girlfriend primarily drives the vehicle and she would never have noticed the tire damage. The tires in question are Michelin tires, however, Michelin does not have formal representation in Puerto Rico and Atlantic Tire serves as their distributor in Puerto Rico.Read more

On Monday July 18th 2022 I took the Ram to Tires Choice 1101 West Main Street Troy Ohio [XXX]. The tech and I took the Ram out and reproduced exactly what we experienced on July 16th, without the trailer hooked. After inspection while on the lift it was found that the belt was broken on the front passenger tire , and was told we were lucky this did blow hauling a 15k trailer. I replaced all 6 tires in fear that the other tires may also be faulty, and if fear of having or causing an accident to would result in serious injury or even death. After researching this particular Nexen tire I found SEVERAL negative and shocking reviews. THIS TIRE NEEDS TO BE REMOVED AND RECALLED FROM THE PUBLIC. Mine and my wifes safety was put at risk when these tires that are on a single axel blew and could have flipped the trailer or truck. I reported the incident to the dealer and brought them the tires upon return from the trip we were on. They agreed something didn't seem right. I am going to start an insurance claim this week after I file the report with you and the company. There wasn't a warning with the tires and we actually had two different people check them before the trip and both said the tires looked good.Read more

Purchased brand new Honda 2018 and it came with Hankook 235/60R18 KINERGY GT H436 BW At 30,000 miles all 4 tires need to be replaced. Honda manufacturer and dealer confirmed that this is a known issue. I contacted Hankook manufacturer and was told that although the 235/60R18 KINERGY GT H436 have a 70,000 mile warranty, the 235/60R18 KINERGY GT H436 tires that come with the new car are designed to
... only last 30,000 miles out of the usual 70,000. Hankook deliberately engineered their tires to fail at 30,000 putting my life and the life of my family in danger in order to generate a profit. When purchasing my new car I was under the impression (based on the Hankook manufacturer's website) that my new tires would be covered by the 70,000 mile warranty and would thus last more than just 30,000. All my other new cars, the tires lasted well over the warranty that they initially came with. This is the first time that I have ever experienced this. This clearly has nothing do to with my driving pattern, considering that the manufacturer CONFIRMED that they engineer new car tires to FAIL at 30,000 miles.Read more

Kumho 225/60 R17 99H Original equipment tires on my Hyundai Tucson 2017. A little over a month ago we noticed a wobble in the front and I have a car at highway speeds and even lower speeds as well. When I removed the front passenger tire to inspect it I noticed there was bulging in the tread and the tire would not roll across the floor smoothly. I checked the rear passenger side tire at the same
... time and it also had bulging in the tread and would not roll smoothly across the floor without tipping over when it hit the bulge. I believe these tires should be recalled along with the other batch of Kumo tires from the same time. That have already been recalled. I took the car into the local Hyundai dealer in Anchorage and had a new set of tires put on a couple days ago and the service personnel at the dealership can verify that these tires are defective. I have the tires in my possession and would be happy to turn them in to be inspected.Read more

This report is rather unusual as I actually represent over a 1000 people currently with this problem/concern.
